In connection with the partnership with minLen Madeleine and Chris have attended the Spa Awards 2025 (April 11-13) in Königswinter, Germany, yesterday, April 11:

Princess Madeleine has been interviewed about her new collaboration with Weleda for German TV channel RTL:

I'm seeing a power shift in the couple's dynamics and relationship. Madeleine stayed in New York, London, and Florida for the benefit and advancement of Chris' career. Now they're back in Sweden for the advancement of Madeleine's career. Sweden certainly isn't ideal for Chris' career. It's great that he's being the supportive spouse and accompanying the Princess in promoting her new business venture. She made the sacrifice for years.

It would be interesting to know why you think Sweden isn't ideal for Chris' career.

That's what Chris O'Neill himself said in 2015 to explain why the couple were moving from Sweden to Britain:

Why don't you live in Sweden?
- We would definitely stay in Sweden if it had gone with my job, but I have a job that requires I'm in London. Until now, I have had three to four flight per week in Europe, mostly to London. It doesn't work in the long run. At the end of New York time I commuted between London and New York. It wouldn't also worked in the long run. I had a while twelve days a month from New York to London. I and Madeleine have now taken the decision that we are going to stay in London so that I can do my work. I don't want to come home to a hotel room alone. I want to come home to my family and eat dinner together. Everything else is not important. It is I who am the breadwinner of the family. I must first and foremost think of our little family.

Based on this and other interviews, I agree with the comment that Princess Madeleine has made sacrifices to prioritize her husband's career and cultural preferences throughout most of their marriage.

I agree that M has made lots of sacrifices and I think that now that the kids no longer need her 24/7 attention she wants something to do by herself. I do wonder what has changed for Chris though. Is he no longer the "bread winner"?

Maybe things changed for Madeleine, more than for Chris, and after being mostly out of royal life the last few years, she has figured out what she might want to do and the time is right to do them?

I wonder if, for Chris, the Covid pandemic had a big impact on how he can work and it is now easier for him to work from anywhere with a computer and Sweden makes sense for Madeleine and the children so Sweden it is.

True, it's become easier for lots of people
Also, the cost of living must be a lot less in Sweden, with free healthcare and education, they also don't pay a lot for the Mews appartment.

Do they pay anything at all for the Mews apartment?

Florida wasn't "ideal" for Chris' business either. I never understood why he didn't choose to live in New York or London if the plan was to live outside Sweden.

I don't know anything about the rent, of course, I was just assuming that they pay about the same as the other tennants, a kind of "peppercorn" rent.

Hard to know what would be the "ideal" location for Chris since nobody knows exactly what his business is. Or rather was, he's terminated it as I've understood it.

I've always thought he was managing other peoples money - he worked for N M Rothschild & Sons which is known for managing assets for others.

Interestingly - wikipedia states
His marriage to a Swedish princess necessitated that, if he continued with Noster Capital, the fund would have to divest entirely from companies that traded on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and, moreover, divest from any company which had more than a third of its sales in Sweden.[8] O'Neill resigned from Noster Capital in consequence of these demands

Which seems a little odd now his wife is starting her own skincare line with a large multinational company.

Princess Madeleine gave an interview and addressed some of the criticism regarding her latest venture
Princess Madeleine responds to 'criticisms' following major move
That's the interview with German channel RTL mentioned on April 15 above, Hello magazine is quoting from.

According to Hello!'s translation of Princess Madeleine's interview on RTL:

In an interview with German outlet, RTL News, Madeleine was asked about the new venture, with host Fauke Ludowig mentioning critics who said the royal's plans didn't "fit" with the life expected of a royal.

"I can understand their concerns and the criticisms that they have," Madeleine responded. "But a couple of years ago there was a big decision, that they're slimming down and focusing more on my sister, the Crown Princess [Victoria].

"And I think many monarchies in Europe are doing that, and with that they slimmed it down and said "okay, we're focusing more on the Crown Princess's family."

She continued: "So me and my brother [Carl Philip], it kind of gave us the opportunity to do other things. Nowadays, I don't have many official duties anymore, or I should not do that many. So then I said, 'Ok, I'll do it!'"

Interesting that the princess refers to other European royal families. Her father the king has in the past also mentioned taking the customs in other European royal families, not only of Sweden, into account in his decisions.

The reduction of the size of the Royal House took place 5.5 years ago, so I wonder what she means by the “big decision” “a couple of years ago".

And she left Sweden several years prior to that decision.

Madeleine had a press lunch for MinLen today in Stockholm:

What Madeleine said and did, the invited journalists are not allowed to write about – nor that the event took place – until three months later, a so-called embargo.
Invited journalists have been given a list of strict instructions for the event held on the Ulriksdal Palace grounds.
“To ensure that it is a successful and well-coordinated event, please follow the communication rules carefully,” Weleda writes to the invited reporters.
It is absolutely forbidden to publish articles about the launch taking place, according to the document that Expressen has seen, but Weleda welcomes journalists posting pictures and videos on social media.
Journalists are allowed to share "general impressions (location, atmosphere, people, vibe)", and are asked to film "short, personal clips" - for example where they try out Minlen's products.

Strict rules for journalists at Princess Madeleine's Minlen event
(...) The journalists were also given sentences that they were asked to say or write. Among them: "so excited to try this", "Love the texture" and "it feels so smooth".
Journalist and freedom of expression expert Nils Funcke thinks the list is inappropriate.
- They are trying to control what journalists can and cannot write. It does not pose a threat to freedom of the press, but it is absolutely inappropriate and surprising. The princess is a representative of the Royal House and this reflects badly on the King, the Crown Princess and the Royal House. What will be the next step? That you are not allowed to write about things that she does as a representative of Sweden?
Nils Funcke urges journalists to turn down events with strict lists of requirements, Swedish media should boycott companies that try to tie down journalists in what they are allowed to write.

It is bad coming back in Sweden and starting a Business . She never did it ?

I'm not fully familiar with how PR briefs are typically managed for product launch events in Sweden, and it would be helpful if someone with local experience could share insights. That said, PR agencies handling these kinds of events often follow standard practices, particularly in the lifestyle sector. It's not uncommon for lifestyle writers and influencers to accept certain arrangements or x deals as part of their participation, though these vary depending on the context and the PR firm’s approach.
In this case, Princess Madeleine's name undoubtedly elevates the brand’s visibility. However, she is not a private citizen but a member of the Swedish royal family, which brings with it a heightened level of public scrutiny and accountability. I would not be surprised if she was not fully aware of how the PR agency managed the event, but that's no excuse and this experience may serve as an important reminder of the need for transparency and oversight in all engagements associated with her name, as the daughter of the King of Sweden.

It is unfortunate, but Aftonbladet is also a pro-republic newspaper so don’t expect many positive articles about the monarchy to come from them…

It’s minor news here in Sweden so i don’t think it will affect the popularity for The King and The Crown Princess..

Madeleine seems to be a bit lost about what she should do with the time when she is not working at childhood… But it is a trend we have seen in many countries, that royals who are not expected to inherit the throne struggles to carve out a road for themselves… As most of them have never held a ”normal” job like you and i have, i am not surprised that some of them are struggling and embarks on controversial ”projects”…

Madeleine has started a company, Minlen Holding AB, with Chris. She is the CEO and Chris is chairman of the board. Her skincare Minlen will be launched in September. It is a holding company, registered in an office building in Östermalm, where Chris' company Belgravia Advisors AB is also registered.
Madeleine's close friend Ellen Dinkelspiel is also on the board of the company. She says she has no active role in the company and otherwise doesn't comment.
It is Madeleine’s private company, where the business is conducted under the name Madeleine Bernadotte.
Margareta Thorgren says that the court doesn't handle the company's matters because it belongs to the private sector. But the decision to start the company has been made in dialogue with the Royal Household.
