Princess Isabella's 18th birthday & celebrations: April 21, 2025

Everyone looks great even the Queen's sisters.

At first I was a bit disappointed that Isabella's gown was a dark color but then I saw video of the gown and the way it moves and all the shimmer. Spectacular! The silver appliquet at the back in addition to the gorgeous earrings gives the right amount of bling!!!

Once again the colors of the family's outfit are all harmonious.

Here are some additional photos of this evening:

Isabella looked beautiful! The DRF always looks great together, I love seeing them.

I was kinda hoping that members of the Greek Crown Princely family would made an appearance lol

always thought her and Jane were similar. nice to see them attending
They sure are similar! Always been so, even I can tell. In some angles the resemblance is uncanny.

This is a great photo. Josephine wore these trails or whatever they are, unfortunately she also has an older brother who has been issued big feet... Fortunately though she took it in good spirits, no doubt relishing the opportunity to tease her brother about it - for the rest of his life...

I didn't see the whole thing live. There has been some mixed reviews. Not about the concept or involving young people, that's actually considered a stroke of genius. But the show was considered a little too "adult" so to speak and the poor young people, in party mode, were required to sit down most of the time, it was actually only towards the end, they began to rock. So the show itself should perhaps have been more lively. That in contrast to the celebration of Christian, that ended with a floor-party.
The main thing of course that Isabelle enjoyed it.

Nikolai is, unsurprisingly, turning out to be the most sharp-dressed man in the DRF these days.
Perhaps they should have played this song, to get the mood up in high hear:

I was quite impressed by how the young female Danish guest dressed for the occasion almost all of the young ladies who were invited were dressed appropriately, but the men there was some raised eyebrows 😅 they got the easy part just put a suit and tie but some were wearing what they would wear for a high school prom!

It’s a sad age we are living in, when young people can’t be expected to sit down for two hours to enjoy a concert!

It was actually the old Queen and her sisters I felt sorry for. Especially the second part of the concert can’t have been to their taste.

Although I loved the idea of celebrating with people her age, I would have preferred a joint celebration for Princess Isabella and Queen Margarethe for their milestone birthdays with the usual royalty and nobility from around Europe in the theatre and a later concert for the young Danes similar to crown princess Victoria’s birthday celebration every year!

But I guess that’s me wanting a celebration with orders and tiaras especially as the venue was so grand 😅

Queen Mary’s older sister’s look just like they are Mary’s older version in different times in the future 😅

You are not alone
I always though they look like taller Mary and shorter Mary : )

another video from the DRF

I think they hit the right note inviting the youth. Surely a night to remember. Something different. It's fun to read of their experience. Isabella also invited her classmates.

Video of Isabella, Mary and Frederik dancing along

Some more great photos. Just posted today Thursday.

Love the profile shots!

Well, some of them sure were tall! Totally dwarfing their ladies.
I noticed a daughter of the omnipresent Scheel family among Isabella's classmates.

The expression that Isabella exclaimed when mother Mary during Christian's confirmation issued contradictory orders (mothers/wives have a tendency to do that...) which was: "Er du helt væk, mor" = Have you totally lost it, mum?" Has been reused during her celebrations. I'd say it has become a catchphrase that defines Isabella, and one of the reasons why she is so well liked. It's such a typical teenage thing to say.
Isabella referred to it again during her first official speech in Aarhus. A note to oneself: remember the microphones.
And again. I'm told, when the hosts of the evening at the Royal Theater "bumped" into each other at the very beginning uttering: "Er du helt væk."

One thing is certain: Isabella was presented, celebrated and charmed the public at her birthday. Confidently, naturally and flawlessly accepting the well-wishes, which isn't that easy a thing to do. It can so easily become overwhelming and awkward.
So if Isabella want to there will be very few objections against her being a working royal in the future. Which the polls already indicated but the celebrations have confirmed.

I think QMII is more than pleased these days!
And so is the Regent Couple, but they are parents, so they ought to be proud no matter what.

Did Denmark celebrate Princess Benedicte 18th Birthday ?
Yes - Princess Benedikte and Prince Joachim were both celebrated for their 18th birthdays. As is Isabella, they were both, at the time they turned 18 children of the Monarch (and both were the second born of said Monarch) - so they were both in the same position as Isabella is today - 2nd in line to the throne.

What great photos! Chris Christopherson has taken some amazing photos of the DRF!

This even for Princess Isabella was wonderful! Everyone looked amazing and she looked very happy.

DR has all the videos up of Princess Isabella's gal at the Royal Theater including the Princess Party Bus with the young people traveling to the event, the after party, the arrival of the royals, the show itself, etc.

Note: when I watch I my computer, I am able to turn on the captions and they are translated into English (not perfect, but enough to enjoy what everyone is saying). I have the translate feature on to automatically translate Danish into English.

A very sweet look back shared today 🥰

A great set of wonderful family memories!!

Little glimpses from child to 18 years 📸On the occasion of Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella's 18th birthday on Monday, Their Majesties the King and Queen share here a selection of memories from the family's digital photo album.

Wonderful photos! Most never seen before. I like that it's gives us little glimpse into their lives.
If Google translate is correct, New years in Trend looks fun with the cowgirl hat.
Mary and Isabella in Louisiana, USA?
And i like the family photo, missing Christian, but it looks like Frederik has riding boots. Outdoorsy family.

I love the photos! Such wonderful family moments. It also shows that they cultivated a lot of family time with the kids and raise their family and be hands on, all while handling their official duties and responsibilities. Isabella and her siblings appear to have grown into lovely, loving kids.

On Sunday April 20th, Princess Isabella celebrated her birthday with a large private party at Frederik 8th at Amalienborg.

Official portraits for Isabella's 18

Great photos! Unusual colour, but wonderful! Such a beautiful young woman!

18 years ago today, Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella was born🇩🇰

The birthday itself is marked with the publication of the Princess's first official gala portraits.

The Princess was photographed in the Knight's Hall in Frederik VIII's Palace at Amalienborg, and in the portraits, Her Royal Highness wears the Order of the Elephant with breast star, a diadem with turquoises and diamonds, and a miniature portrait of the Order of the Elephant of her father, His Majesty the King.

She does look great.
Info on the tiara that is a gift from her grandmother Queen Margrtehe .

"The tiara was made in the late 19th century and belonged to Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden. After her untimely death in 1920, her daughter, Princess Ingrid, received the tiara as a confirmation gift and brought it to Denmark upon her marriage to the later Frederik IX."

She wears the family order of the King which belonged to Mary.
"
Princess Isabella carries a frame with a painted portrait of her father, the King. The frame is in gold surrounded by 12 white pearls and 12 small diamond crosses with reference to the Order of the Dannebrog. The frame belonged to HM the Queen, who received it after her wedding in 2004. The portrait, painted by the English miniature painter Tom Mulliner, is done in watercolour on a thin slice of tusk."

More info on the private party Sunday night

"After dinner inside the elegant setting, the party moved out into the backyard, where a few tents had been set up.
...
A hot dog cart or food truck had rolled into the garden behind the mansion, and from here Isabella, the royal couple and all the guests could be served, among other things, a grilled sausage or a classic steak sandwich."

Just beautiful. Love that the frame she received for her father's order belonged to her mother. I love how the DRF always do subtle things like this which connects the past with the present and future. And she finally gets to wear her Order of the Elephant.

Tiara is beautiful for a young person as well. Looks like her mother in these portraits, when to me at least, she has always been her fathers side. Happy 18th. Life is just beginning.
