The flags are flying in Aarhus today, including on the buses.
The weather is fine, windy and a bit cool, but dry.
The hotdog stand on the town-hall square will have a great day today!
(..)

It's quite a packed schedule the poor Isabella has today! And in only two hours. She'll hardly have time to meet the other invited young from Aarhus municipality.
But okay, Aarhus is an add-on event.
I think it's safe to say that the twins will be there, and if they drive to Aarhus, they'll likely pick up Christian on the way from the barracks, and if so we may seen him in uniform. No, not the hussar-gala, alas.

TV2 has a live blog:
DR1 will send live, I hope you can watch it outside DK. They should also have a live blog.
BB will no doubt be there as well.
And BT will also have a live blog.
So will the local papers and network:
TV2 Østjylland (They have already started.)

So plenty to do for our newsdiggers! The papers in particular are likely to release massive galleries over the next couple of days.

It's almost before arrival.

Can you watch this:

BB has got the best coverage.

Arrival on foot, no Christian.
Bella takes center stage. Greeting I think an autistic girl, certainly very shy, who is holding a heart.
King Frederik as always being great with children.

Silver hair-thinghies in Bella's hair. Josephine likes the attention. Mother Mary tenderly correcting Isabella's hair, it's windy!

Birthday song.
The local mayor almost looking younger than Isabella.

Josephine is not presented, but handed, flowers by a flower-boy. Yeah, well, big deal, here.

Going inside with TV2 local news: Liveblog: Kæmpe banner hevet frem fra rådhusets tag

Presented with a 14 carat bracelet by Aarhus municipality.

She is addressed with formal You.

A couple of pics from BT:

No live coverage from DR1. Perhaps Aarhus is too far away from Copenhagen...

The square in front of the town-hall is packed!
Isabella's B-day will be a flag-day.

What a lovely event today! And many lovely photos and videos of the family:

Sweet Bella! Incredible to think she's almost 18 – seems like yesterday she was dancing around at the twins' christening.

Another video of her little speech at the end of the celebration. Her first official speech, that is! She's so well-spoken and it's very funny to see both Frederik and Mary's mannerisms in her during the speech. I also love that she made a clever little reference to her viral hot mic moment at Christian's confirmation 😅

I love that she highlighted that in her speech.
""Almost four years ago I found out that your words can be overheard when you least expect it. Today I have no doubt that the microphone is on," Princess Isabella began her speech, and it made the entire city hall laugh."

Reflecting, learning, and bringing some humor. Well done Isabella!!

"It makes me really happy to be celebrated in a city that has great meaning to me and my family. Here I have celebrated Christmas and Easter, taken walks in the garden and by the water, and enjoyed myself in the Old Town since I was little."

What a joyful day! Love love that they included some many youth and talent from Aarhus, it was a celebration!
The cake makers were interviewed

Isabella's birthday is now a flagday

And yes, Isabella is still a clone of Frederik

Isabella, Josephine and Vincent chatting with the dance group, while Frederik and Mary look on. I think they can be quite proud

What a great celebration! Love that so many young people were included. Nice surprise that Isabella gave a speech! Frederik and Mary can be very proud of all their kids. They have grown into very lovely, loving and well-adjusted kids.

I remember when she was born and was just "lille pige". Look at her now!

Isabella is a darling and certainly knows how to work a crowd.
Frederik and Mary and really all of Denmark should be proud!

I think we can expect Isabella to rock when the big show is on next week. This was a successful dress rehearsal.
I also believe Vincent and Josephine will be there. They won't pass the chance for a party and they are used to being in the limelight, so no shyness there.
Christian is more an open question. He's now nearing the end of bootcamp and that means more responsibility, so he might pull guard duty during Easter. Otherwise I think he'll be home on leave.

We are hoping for a banquet on April 21st!!

Looking forward to this event. I will assume that this will be the event that QMII attends along with Princess Benedikte.

I think this is such a great idea to include young people (just like Christian did). What a wonderful way to celebrate Isabella, but also stay engaged with the generation that they need to keep courting basically. It helps that the four kids are all so relatable and approachable.

Getting back to the celebrations for Princess Isabella's birthday, here is an article from BB

Article about Count Ingolf and Countess Suzie at the Aarhus event

The DRF YouTube channel has posted a video of Princess Isabella's speech...just lovely

Appears to have been a lovely event - the speech by Isabella hit the right notes. Looking forward to the theatre event next week

Ohhh, I still remember little Isabella! How time flies! And nice speech! Btw, can someone remind me of what happened at Christian's confirmation? I don't remember that hot mic thing.

A number of off-topic posts and comments have been removed - this is a thread for Princess Isabella's birthday celebrations only!

A nice little anecdote from the comments section of the DRF's Instagram post of Isabella's speech:
Beautiful Princess Isabella, a big and hearty congratulations on your 18th birthday, a young speaker with an exciting future ahead of her. I spoke to her at Royal Run 3 years ago when I was front of the line in my wheelchair, she smiled and politely inquired about my illness, I [told her I] have sclerosis, she replied "oh, my grandmother is patron of the Sclerosis Foundation (The Danish MS Society) and the Sclerosis Hospitals!"

I think being aware of this at the age of 15 is evident of an interested and engaged young woman who will no doubt be a great asset to the DRF in the future.
