Information about Princess Isabella's 18th birthday celebrations and new photos have been released.

The following official events will take place in connection with the Princess's 18th birthday: Friday, 11 April 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Aarhus City Hall Aarhus City Hall is organizing an anniversary event at Aarhus City Hall, which is a tribute to the city's many young talents in creative fields such as music, sports, gastronomy and design.

Young designers from Aarhus present a fashion show focusing on sustainability and future materials, promising musicians take the stage, elite dancers in training perform and students from vocational education programs serve birthday cake.

Among the guests will be about 100 young people from local youth organizations and educational institutions. In addition, another 50 young people from Aarhus with a companion will have the opportunity to participate through a lottery.

Tuesday 15 April 2025 at 7.30pm: Royal Theatre Old Stage The Princess and the Royal Family attend an anniversary performance on the Royal Theatre Old Stage.

The Royal House, in collaboration with the Royal Theatre, invites the younger generation to enjoy fun, exciting and varied performing arts, both classical and modern.

The theatre will be packed with a young audience as more than 1,000 young people aged 17 to 24 from across the Kingdom will have the chance to win tickets to the anniversary performance through a lottery. Details about the draw can be found on the Royal Danish Theatre website: www.kglteater.dk.

DR is broadcasting the anniversary presentation.

On the occasion of the Princess's 18th birthday, new portraits of the Princess, taken by photographer Steen Evald at Frederick VIII's Palace in Amalienborg, are being published today. The portraits can be downloaded from the Royal Household's media bank at kongehuset.dk. Guidelines for the use of portraits can be found on the Royal Household website.

That's great! We need something to celebrate and Isabella is a popular member of the DRF.
She is a teenager who is so relatable to other teenage girl - and their parents...
A girl who can sometimes give her parents (mother) a little lip. But also loving to her siblings and a dad's girl. With her own style and yet refreshingly ordinary.
It's very good to see her celebrate in both Copenhagen and Aarhus. Maintain the DRF affiliation with the whole country. - Because we Jutlanders, who are walking around on the fields among cows with straw sticking out from under our hats, would also like to celebrate the DRF.

Looks like a nice program to look forward to :) Lovely to see them include many young people and that the celebrations does not only take place in Copenhagen…

I also notice that it looks like Queen Margrethe has then either declined to have her 85:th birthday celebrated or moved it to later… Personally i hope it is just moved until later… At 85 you can never be sure how many more chances you get to be celebrated…

The Danish RF always throw such wonderful parties and events and always have such wonderful photos too.
I'm looking forward to the 18th and I for one cannot believe the Princess is that age already!

Ah! Though I wish Bella got a gala dinner like Christian (or imagine a joint birthday gala with QMII for her 85th birthday), I was actually worried they wouldn't do any public celebrations for her 18th birthday so I'm just stoked Denmark gets to celebrate her!

Though her popularity has obviously never been surveyed due to her age, I'm fairly confident Isabella is one of the most popular members of the DRF. Not only was she the first princess born into the DRF for more than 60 years – which makes her special in and of itself – her personality also just resonates with people. From the charming toddler who "cleaned" the windows at Gråsten Palace to the kid sneaking the balcony door open at her grandmother's birthday to the teenager with an all too familiar snappy comeback to her mum during a family gathering 😅

Where I think Christian – obviously also laden with the responsibility of being the heir – will begin to have to tread carefully with how he conducts himself in "private", I'd venture to say Isabella will have to do her absolute worst to do wrong in the eyes of the Danes.

I reckon she has been allowed to have a say in at least the conception of the gala performance as a celebration. I wonder if that alludes to a special interest that will one day lead to her taking over some of QMII's more artistic patronages. In any case, it will be so exciting to follow Isabella's endeavours within the DRF in the future (as I have no doubt she will hold a role within the DRF in the future and that they will end up going back on their claims only Christian will receive an allowance).

Will it be a tiara event? Queen Margrethe's 70th birthday was also celebrated at the Royal Theatre, and the royal ladies wore tiaras.

Will we see Princess Isabella wearing a tiara for the first time?

As far as i recall all celebrations for birthday, and Jubilees at the Royal Theatre have been tiara Events.

A white tie dress code is quite a lot to ask of 1000 youths who are the guest unlike for Daisys birthday when it is the rich, royal and noble.

I would imagine black tie dress code at most…

Royal women may wear tiaras if black tie but like Annine said, it is to ask a lot of more than 1000 young persons to buy or rent a ball gown or an evening tail coat just for this occasion…

Probably a mix and match style palaver similar to Christian’s party…

The old Queen’s 85th will probably be a quiet private dinner at Fredensborg.

Looking forward to the celebrations, especially in Aarhus. Love how they spread out in Denmark and that they include the youth. It'll be some special days.
The pictures are lovely!

From the city of Aarhus
""It is a great pleasure that the Princess and the royal family have chosen to visit Aarhus in connection with the Princess's 18th birthday. It is one of Aarhus' privileges with the city's close ties to the Royal House, so it is wonderful that the younger generation also feels a connection to this. I hope that many Aarhusians and guests of the city will take advantage of the opportunity to celebrate the Princess when she arrives at our beautiful town hall. I am pleased that we have been given the opportunity to give 50 young people and their companions an unforgettable experience. I believe that the whole city will look forward to the day, and everyone is welcome at the Town Hall Square."

"Everyone in Aarhus Municipality who is 17, 18 or 19 years old on April 11, 2025, will receive an invitation by digital mail from March 10, where they can register for a lottery if they would like to participate. 50 young people will then be selected by lottery and subsequently notified directly.
In addition to the young people from the municipality and their friends, another 100 young people from a number of associations, educational institutions and organizations will be invited, as well as a number of specially invited guests from the city participating in the event at Aarhus City Hall, hosted by Aarhus Municipality."

And from the Royal Theatre
"Dress code: Festive"

A white tie dress code is quite a lot to ask of 1000 youths who are the guest unlike for Daisys birthday when it is the rich, royal and noble.
The are registering for the chance of getting a ticket so I guess they are aware that it’s not a backyard birthday party and that there will be a dress code for the event, as I said before the birthday of the crown prince, with the modern speed fashion industry a girl can buy a gala dress now for as low as 20-30 USD from Amazon or SHEIN that she can wear again in her future for proms, weddings etc

Will we see Princess Isabella wearing a tiara for the first time?
Hopefully. It's a tradition Nordic royal ladies receive a tiara on occasion of their 18th birthdays

The press release final lines say this:

Hope more information will come
News media information concerning Princess Isabella’s birthday will be announced at a later date.

The Palace also posted the lovely invitation today:

All young people from all over the Kingdom who are in the age group 17 to 24 years on 15 April 2025 can register for the draw for tickets to Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella's birthday performance at the Royal Theatre.Registration for the draw takes place via the Royal Theatre's website.

It is. After all they are the Regent Couple for the younger generations and not least the youngest. And that means they have stay in touch, be relevant, relatable and connected.

People of my generations know the DRF. We may not know them personally or be close to them, but we know of them, we meet them from time to time and sometimes we may even have a chat.
We know when they have children, divorce, and other events in their lives and we know them as persons. That makes them relatable, also for those who are against the monarchy. That's an important connection to have. And you can't start too soon.
I don't say that the Regent Couple sat down and devised a PR strategy for the teens. I genuinely think they would like to share this big day in the life of their oldest daughter. In contrast to some other countries, turning 18 is a big day in Denmark!
And I also suspect that Isabella would like to be celebrated with a party with someone her own age, like Christian was.
I don't know if it's a national character thing or a tribal thing, but we like to celebrate something as a people/tribe. Also in times where things are serious or perhaps especially in times when things are serious.
There are a few who will complain about money spend on a big party or think it shouldn't be lavish but they are in the minority. The most will say lets party!
It's a nice distraction, and we really need a nice distraction. (Alternatively something to complain about, which is also a delight for some.)

And as said before Isabella is very liked, because she is relatable.

And when the time comes I hope Vincent and Josephine will be celebrated in a similar manner. Josephine, the little ham, will surely love it!
The press will love it too. I know, almost, for a fact that the editors and journalists on Billed Bladet danced the Sirtaki (Zorba) for four hours straight out of joy when the news about this celebrations broke.
Considering how much coverage Christian's party got, this won't be any less! The first teenage Princess coming out for decades. What's not to love?

Wonder if we aren't going to see some of the younger siblings in the royal families at at least one of the celebrations?
The Dutch but also Magnus of Norway and the Belgians and Sofia of Spain. And how about the non-reigning families? This is after all not a state-event but could be more like a royal youth-gathering.
The press would go wild!

Why do you think the Royal Opera event won’t be a tiara event? Even when the men wear black tie we have seen the women in tiaras.

I certainly wouldn’t expect the 1,000 young people to wear tiaras— just like Christian’s Gala where the Royal woman wore tiaras but not the younger guests

I would imagine for a young lady that wearing a Tiara would be a bit of a treat in itself - I doubt the expectation is that all guests wear one but really who would frown at a princess in her own right wearing one?

Are there any confirmed friendships between the King's children and other young royals?

Yes. They know Ingrid Alexandra and Sverre Magnus from Norway, Estelle and Oscar from Sweden, Elisabeth from Belgium and Catharina-Amalia from the Netherlands (I assume they must also know Aléxia and Ariane).

Christian, Isabella and the twins should also meet Marie-Chantal and Pavlos' children. But I don't know if they are close.

Christian certainly know Alexia, because he made a Tik-Tok video with her. IIRC Isabella was briefly seen in the background.

Correct. And Ariane (born: 10 April 2007) is a week and a half older than Isabella (born: 21 April 2007), so it would make a lot of sense for the two of them to have spent time together as well. Infanta Sofía is also very close in age (born: 29 April 2007).

During the Belgian state visit to Denmark, Queen Mathilde revealed that Isabella (her goddaughter) had visited her in Belgium – so there's a possibility she's at least acquaintances with Eléonore who's only a year younger than her.
