According to her mother in The year with royal family, there are no plans for her to attend more events because she is going to start and longer study, not saying what kind or when (etterhvert) But considering all her peers start to attend more events I think they will have to sooner than later…. Though in the next months there is both the Ski world cup in Trondheim and the anniversary of the liberation in May so maybe there will be more than it was last year.

King Harald always seems mindfull to speak well of her whenever he has the chance, and give information her parents dont always give:

She is a tough lady. There is a lot of heavy lifting she has embarked on in her choice of service. I think that was one of the things she was a little worried about at first, but it has gone really well. I think she enjoys herself very much.

It is clear from having watched the annual NRK-documentary ”The year with The Royal Family” that they are planning for no changes at all for several years, for Ingrid (or her brother for that sake) when it comes to beginning to undertake some public engagements…

Wich i don’t understand at all… Ingrid and her brother are now young adults… Most of their european counterparts around the same age has started undertaking engagements part-time for their royal family, side by side with their studies…

That’s how the reality is even for most non-royal young adults in every country… Having a part-time job side by side with your studies…

But Ingrid who turns 21 in a couple of weeks and her brother who is now 19 is clearly still not expected to step up in any way…

Sooner or later they will be forced to change plan - unless the plan really is to leave Haakon completely alone at the palace the day Harald, Sonja and Astrid can’t do it anymore

I am not sure that “accompanying their parent(s) to whatever location is decided” counts as a royal engagement.

Ingrid has done plenty of that, both when she was their age and since.

Elisabeth seems to fully focus on Harvard at the moment, Leonor does military (and like Elisabeth in the past is more present therefore), Christian did his gap year, Amalia accompanied her parents last year on official trips but otherwise seems to focus on her studies too.

Lately it feels (to me) that there are double standards here in the forum for the royals depending on people's opinion on them/their family. (Like I barely read any complaints that Elisabeth went to Oxford, while in other countries it suddenly a huge problem that the heir not studies at a local university).

Leonor has held several solo events, has made her first official trip abroad alone and is honorary president of two foundations at whose events, although she is accompanied by her family, she makes the main speeches. Her institutional presence and her official activity alone are a couple of steps ahead.

Ingrid Alexandra is still the heir to the heir, so given her position and age I think she is having enough public presence. Christian was in the same position until a year ago, and we probably still have to wait to see how his role evolves.

Amalia attends official events, but always accompanied by her parents and in most cases they have been gala events. Considering her age and the time she has been heir, she is one step behind... not so much because of the number of appearances, but because she does not participate in activities alone and because in her activities she has little prominence and little contact with people. I think it is a mistake that her image is so focused on galas, and that they do not look for some more social or cultural activity that is of interest to her and where she is comfortable and relates more closely with people.

I already expressed my opinion in the corresponding thread that, although Elisabeth is studying at prestigious universities, the fact that all her baccalaureate and university education is in foreign centers distances her from her country. On the one hand, this prevents her from having more official activity, and on the other, it distances her from knowing the reality of her country and from relating to people of her generation who will be the ones for whom she will reign.

For me, the education of the heirs is not only academic, but they must have a very deep knowledge of their country and their society, and for that, it is important that there is a balance between education in their country and abroad, between academic education and practical training. These young heirs have undoubtedly grown up in elite circles and have mainly interacted with one part of society, but as the world evolves, they need to have a more global vision that helps them understand their countries and the world from other perspectives.

It seems Ingrids 21 birthday is not the most memorable one as there is a Noro-virus outbreak in the camp, which is now making the rounds in the national press, probably mostly because of her, otherwise I doubt it would make headlines in the national press.

This was confirmed by the head of communications in the army, Lars Strøm, to Dagbladet.

A soldier Dagbladet spoke to on tuesday is very dissatisfied with how the situation is being handled. The soldier describes a quarantine life with "bad conditions".

The soldier claims they have been locked in their rooms, and are given moldy bread for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He calls it hellish. He further claims the quarantine period has lasted eleven days. The Army spokesperson Trygve Andre Hongset says they do not know that anyone has been isolated for 11 days. The soldier also claims that they only get two short walks each day, and that both those with and without symptoms are mixed in the cohorts.

Hongset states that the princess is following the infection control measures in her cohort.

- Like the other soldiers at Skjold, she is affected by the infection control measures in her garrison, he adds.

The unnamed soldier specially complains about the food during isolation

NRK has gotten it confimred that he outbreak of the Noro virus is currently active in the barracks of the 2nd battalion at Skjold camp, but infection control measures have been implemented throughout the camp. Princess Ingrid Alexandra's military unit, the Engineering Battalion, is therefore also included in the infection control measures.

The new pictures are pictures the Palace released on her birthday, but they weren't new pictures, just new to us... One in the outfit she wore to Märtha Louise's wedding, two from military training, one skiing and one on a boat in warm weather, so probably during the summer...

The Mayor of Målselv municipality has asked the palace if they can gift the princess a Bardu and Målselv bunad that representative the area where she is serving in the military. The palace has accepted the gift.

It seems in other countries they make the royals adopted daughter or honorary mayor, in Norway they gift a bunad… just what she needs, a bunad number 7… her collection is close to beeing bigger than Sonjas at only 21years old.

It seems like if you are going to be the future Queen everyone obviously wants you to have one of their bunads, and much like former Queens always traveled with a tiara in case, Ingrid will never be short an appropriate regional outfit should the need arise.

I mean if anybody is going to have the biggest collection, it ought to be her, right?

Why don't the make a Royal bunad in Norway for the Royal family? So if the Royals go in "traditional" clothes, they have their own, with their own colors.

Each country has their own traditions. No reason to change it to a different's country's tradition. Especially, not since there is no problem to be solved. There are occasions in which Norwegian women wear bunads and occasions in which they don't. If Ingrid-Alexandra (or other members of the royal family) attend events where bunads are worn, they will pick an appropriate bunad to wear and everyone is happy - as has been the case for a long time. So, clearly the Norwegian royal family gets it right!
