Princess Ingrid Alexandra News and Current Events Part 1: January 2022 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
But people will always be curious to see these photos.
Perhaps Ingrid Alexandra is more protected in Norway, where public figures aren't often photographed on the street.
But in a huge country like Australia, it's normal for her to be recognized and photographed wherever she goes.
She probably won't mind too much. The most important thing is that she's okay with it.

I think this must be a huge adjustment for her, since it has never happened to her in Norway. I did expect paparazzi pictures of her to be taken in Sydney, but it's been more frequent than I would have thought - every couple of days basically...
I initially thought she wasn’t very well known in Australia and that nobody would dare take her picture, but it turns out her private photos keep appearing in the media.

There seems to have been meeting with the Norwegian press

Ingrid Alexandra has been interviewd by Vg about her studies

Dagbladet has some different photos taken by Scanpix Lise Åserud

She has also talked to nrk

How is it for the princess, the situation your brother Marius is in now?
– It is of course difficult. Both for those of us who are around, for me as a sister and for mom and dad. And of course for everyone affected by the matter. –

How is it to be far away in that situation?

– Yes, it is... I don't know if I want to go into it much more than that, she interrupts herself.

She is also the main news on NRK News today
She says she hopes to do some official events when she comes home for vacation

She says she presens herself as Ingrid and if she needs a last name she uses Alexandra

She takes 4 course this semester snd starts her exams on the 17th of november.

It can't be easy for Ingrid both regarding how it affects her family and how it very obviously have affected the position of the monarchy.
She did the right choice in replying to the question with a short and honest reply, by expressing sympathy for the victims and then cutting off.

Actually I was suprised they allowed it at all. She did not answer VG if she had contact with Marius.

Some quotes, the comunnications director was with her

- For a long time, social geography was my favorite subject, but now political economy has emerged as a new favorite.

– It’s really fun to be here – and to have chosen what I’m going to do myself.

– Do you think the studies are relevant to one day becoming the Queen of Norway?

– Yes. I think I’ll have a lot of use for it in the role I’m going to take on in the future, and that it gives me a good background for understanding different contexts. It’s also something I’m personally very interested in. I would probably have chosen to study this anyway.

In the interview she did with NRK when she turned 18, the princess joked that her mother wanted her to become a doctor.
– Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Becoming a doctor wasn’t exactly my dream either, she laughs.

…..
About papparazzi

I have been incredibly lucky that I have been allowed to be as free in Norway as I have been. And that I have had that space at least until I turned 18. Actually after that too. Down here there have been some slightly unpleasant experiences. But it has calmed down over time, it was mostly at the very beginning.

– Did you read the news?

– Yes, I see them from time to time.

– Did you see the photographers, or were they hidden in the bushes?

– Sometimes I have seen them.

– Was it unpleasant?

– It can be a bit unpleasant.

…..
She also says to NRK that the Queen, on behalf of herself and the King, sends her long text messages with photos about what she and the King is doing. She says the King does not text himself and that he is not very digital. Which makes Dureks comments that the King sent him textmassges about racism sound even more unlikely

How does she think it will be to step into a more public role?

– I have had many good experiences from official assignments that I have had so far. I learn a lot from my grandmother and grandfather. Grandma, she is so organized. Grandpa is so incredibly good with people, he is so empathetic and funny. And I think that my study time will be something that I will benefit from going forward.

….
Princess Ingrid Alexandra has a study technique she learnt in the army
step by step.
– I try to break things that feel very big into smaller pieces. If I have many tasks at the same time, I focus on one at a time.

She didn't express sympathy for the victims imho. Her statement about 'everyone affected' is very generic: "And of course for everyone affected by the matter."

Both Social Geography and Political Economy seem very relevant for a role as queen: one helps to understand the human side of society while the other helps to understand its institutions. Glad to read that she is genuinely interested.

Her focus on her grandparents seems telling; she didn't have to refer to her grandparents when talking about her public role but she choose to do so (instead of taking her father as an example). I also like reading how it is the queen who tries to stay in touch as the king isn't that digitally savvy.

I think it would be impossible for her to go into any specifics and not ignite a firestorm, but she wanted to indicate she understood she and her family weren’t the only ones affected by her brother. Sometimes it’s called diplomacy.

I fully understand that she has to be diplomatic but because of that she was not able to express her sympathy for the victims. If she would do that, she would acknowledge that there are victims... which would put her in a difficult spot with her brother (and parents).

She said what she had to say and what she needed to say. I’m not sure what you’re trying to do other than nitpick someone’s phrasing.

If you understand subtleties, you know what she meant — or will nothing other than “I have the deepest sympathy for everyone allegedly afflicted by my brother” qualify (which you seem to acknowledge is unworkable)?

I am ok with her statement as well and don't think she could go much further than saying what she is saying now: this is really difficult for me as a sister, my parents and also for other people involved (which includes Marius as well as his victims - and (other) family members of both the accused and his victims).

Ingrid's comments re her brother's situation were sincere but also diplomatic, given that the trial hasn't yet occurred. She is not responsible for what her brother or her parents did or didn't do. Given what she has said, I do think she will express more direct sympathy for the victims after her brother is convicted (assuming conviction). Ingrid has no fault in this situation, and it would be difficult for any of us to answer these questions if our own brother were accused of these crimes.

The only thing I think she should have left out of her interview was that her parents are her role models. That is NOT a good look considering the way they have allegedly covered up for Marius. She would have been better leaving that bit out.

Maybe people have to stop reading stuff into every single word/sentence.

This discussion reminds me of the endless discussion we had about that one sentence about her half-brother from her 18th birthday speech, were people (on this forum) were like "how could she have said that".

The Palace shared some photos of the latest interview together with a message wishing good luck to all those who are in the exam phase:

Exam season is in full swing in both Norway and Australia! 🇳🇴🇦🇺

According to Australian superstition, it means trouble in the exam if you haven't started studying before the jacaranda trees are in full bloom.

The purple trees have been blooming for several weeks already, but we wish you good luck anyway - whether you opened your syllabus early or at the last minute! 💜📚✨

I think it's an okay answer, could have been a tad more forceful, a mention of how serious the situation is and how she hopes and trusts that justice will prevail. But that's just me. As such, the statement is more "poor me, poor us" and "everyone" affected by the matter, no victims for now, I suppose. I think the Norwegian RF is a family first, above everything and everyone, kind of RF, in contrast to the Danes and the British.

IA is heir to the heir but the Marius issue will follow her throughout her reign. I hope her parents have a plan in place rather than leave her to deal with him, or worse, expect her to give him leniency in public and private because he's her brother.

A very lovely video of Ingrid Alexandra at Sydney's zoo has been shared by the Palace today 💕

As the Christmas spirit fades, we take a look back at when Princess Ingrid Alexandra met some of Australia's most iconic residents 🐨🦘🇦🇺

Sydney's Taronga Zoo is a leading institution for the conservation of endangered species. Through targeted breeding programs, research and outreach, the zoo works to ensure the survival of both Australian and international species that are at risk of extinction.

NRK has made a summary of her most public year so far, with some other quote that was not included in the year with the royal family

What does it give the princess for the path you are taking, to be able to stand side by side with grandfather?

– I think it will give me a lot in the future, and it gives me a lot now. I get to see and learn from how he does things, says Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

– He is very empathetic and good at meeting people. And it is also very nice for me personally to do those things with him.

And the whole context of the Sverre Magnus question..

-It's very nice. I think Magnus is very good at official work, and that we work very well together, the princess tells NRK.

– I still think of him as very little, but he has actually become quite an adult. I think it's nice to see him in such settings too.

– Does the princess imagine that he is someone she could need by her side in the official role in the future?

– I definitely think that I will need Magnus. But he must also be allowed to find his own path, and find out what he wants to do, she says.
- So I think it's a conversation that we will have in the future and find out what will work well for us.

The parents says this:

It is important for us to facilitate her to create her own role. We can offer advice, but it is much more important for us that she has a good process with those who work at the Palace, says Crown Princess Mette-Marit to "The Year with the Royal Family".
- I think it is important for her to have ownership of and not least motivation for what she does, she says.
-So it is nice that she has chosen to do a little different things. And then her main task now is to be a student, says Crown Prince Haakon.
