Princess Tsuguko will visit Nagasaki for the Takamadonomiya Trophy 57th National High School Archery Championship on August 7. She will watch the competition at Kakidomari Stadium and attend the awards and closing ceremonies.

Afterwards, Princess Tsuguko will visit Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims and lay flowers for the victims. This will be her first visit to Nagasaki on official business.

Princess Hisako visited Shiga Prefecture August 1-2 for the 55th National Mamasan Volleyball Tournament. She is Honorary Patron of the Mamasan Volleyball Federation Nippon.

On June 28th, Princess Tsuguko attended "Connecting with the Nation Chapter 2 ~Learn about the efforts of companies cooperating with UNICEF~" which as attended by about 20 people from UNICEF Campus and UNICEF affiliated organization from across the country.

In the first half of the event, she discussed the current situation of children in Uganda.
  • "Uganda has a high poverty rate, with 41.7% of the population living in poverty."
  • "The influx of refugees from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo is also serious."
  • "Only 69% of people have access to running water, and there are many issues with regard to sanitation."
In the second half, Saraya Co., Ltd. Director Daishima Hirotsugu spoke about how Saraya Co., Ltd. decided to support Japan Committee for UNICEF, why they chose Uganda as the country to support the One Million Handwashing Project, the changes they have seen among the people of Uganda, and how to combine business and charity to find sustainable ways of involvement.

She also met with representatives of four atomic bomb survivors' organizations, including Shigemitsu Tanaka (83), chairman of the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Victims' Council, and Tama Honda (80), chairman of the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Survivors Association, and spoke with each of them.

The men's team was won by Aichi Sangyo University Mikawa High School, representing Aichi Prefecture, and the women's team was won by St. Mary's Girls' High School, representing Gifu Prefecture.

On August 25th, Princess Hisako attended the 40th Takamadonomiya Trophy Nippon Budokan Calligraphy Exhibition awards ceremony at Nippon Budokan in Chiyoda, Tokyo.

 
Princess Tsuguko will attend the finals of the various divisions of the JAPAN CUP 2024 Cheerleading Japan Championships at Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Shibuya, Tokyo on September 1st.

I get very excited every time Princess Tsuguko takes part in official events. I don't know if she is the one who decided to take part in sporting events or it is her mother who advises her on which events to attend. In any case, I'm happy that she goes to these matches; it's since September last year that she started going to the stadium regularly.

On August 29th, Princess Hisako attended the opening ceremony of JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW 2024 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture.

Later, Princess Hisako visited "Harmony in Diversity: Pathway to Cultural Exchange with the World" at Tokyo Fuji Art Museum (TFAM). The Indonesian arts and culture exhibition and promotion is a collaboration between the museum and the Embassy of Indonesia in Tokyo. She also visited "Impressionism: From Monet to America - Worcester Art Museum Collection," permanent exhibition "Western Paintings from the Renaissance to the 20th Century" and "American Photographs - The Lineage of Modern Photography."

Her visit ended with tea party and herbal medicine with the Indonesian Ambassador and his wife, museum director, exhibit curators, and others.

Princess Hisako will visit Yamagata Prefecture September 14-15 for the "36th Starry Sky City · Blue Sky Town" National Convention held in Asahi town. Her agenda includes visits to Kuki Shrine, Asahi Nature Park, floating islands of Onuma and Asahimachi Roadside Station.

On September 7th, Princess Hisako attended the Japanese Sailing Team's report session for the 33rd Olympic Games at Nippon Seinenkan Hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The event was attended by 7 athletes who competed in 4 events.

Keiju Okada and Miho Yoshioka won silver in the Mixed Dinghy 470 competition, Japan's first sailing medal in 20 years. Okada and Yoshioka each received a bonus of 2 million yen from the Japan Sailing Federation and another 2 million yen each from the Japan Olympic Committee (JOC).

After the convention, Princess Hisako visited the illuminated Kuki Shrine, the only shrine in the world where air is the object of worship, as well as a stargazing event.

On September 15th, Princess Hisako completed her 2-day visit to Yamagata Prefecture. After touring the floating islands of Onuma, she went to Asahimachi Roadside Station where she saw specialty products of Asahi town such as 10 apple varieties and pies. People gathered at the station to see her off. A farmer said "Princess Hisako had a refined manner and looked radiant.

On September 13th, Princess Hisako visited the "Otto Habsburg: His Life and Legacy" exhibition at the Minato City Local History Museum in Tokyo. She was guided through the gallery by Anna Aulner-Bálint (Hungarian Ambassador to Japan), Georg von Habsburg (Hungarian Ambassador to France and Otto's son), Krisztina Merényi (Director of the Liszt Hungarian Cultural Center), and Kazuhiko Saito (Director of the Local History Museum).

On September 24th, Princess Hisako attended a lecture on Nikos Kazantzakis' work "Travelling in Japan" and reception for Olga Kefalogianni, Greece's Minister of Tourism, hosted by the Japan-Greece Society at Sumitomo Kaikan in Minato, Tokyo. Kefalogianni is on an official visit to Japan for "Tourism Expo Japan 2024."

On August 7th, Princess Hisako was present when representatives of Sorimachi Tech Group presented BirdLife International Tokyo with 515,556 yen in donations, collected from employees over a year from July 2023 to June 2024. This is the 5th year since the Sorimachi Tech Group used penguins as its mascot.

For the first time, Nagasaki hosted the sports festival aimed at people aged 35 and over. A total of 13 sports, including soccer, volleyball, and softball, were held at 25 venues in 10 cities and towns, with approximately 7,000 people participating. [Yomiuri]

I found some of Princess Tsuguko's past events:

In September 2013, she attended the final of the Grass Ski World Championships in Shichikashuku, Miyagi Prefecture.

She met some Czech athletes and one of them, Barbara Míková, described the meeting with Tsuguko: "The Princess came to see the end of the championship. She came to her mother's house, who attends them every year. During the race she cheered for the athletes. She was very nice and friendly. She hurried, so our meeting was short".

On May 26th, 2023, Princess Tsuguko attended a ceremonial reception to celebrate Georgia's Independence Day in Tokyo.

The event organized by the Embassy of Georgia in Japan was attended by about 200 politicians, representatives of the Japanese economy, media and culture, and Georgian citizens residing in Japan.

We knew that Otto von Habsburg had regularly visited the Land of the Rising Sun; his correspondence, notes, and photographs in our archives thoroughly documented these trips. However, we were unaware of our namesake’s significant role in forging the imperial house’s international relations after the Second World War. During the preparatory work, it became clear that emphasising these historical ties would fit well into Hungary’s EU Presidency programme on the island nation and provide a platform for strengthening Hungarian-Japanese diplomatic and cultural relations ...

On October 1st, Princess Hisako and Princess Tsuguko attended the Ceremony of the 2500th anniversary of Emperor Itoku (reigned 510-477 BC) at the Imperial Palace, Tokyo.

Other Imperial Family relatives attended as well. Itoku is known as a legendary Emperor among historians as his existence is disputed.
