'Josephine. Distant in time - but close to me'
That is the title of the latest book by Princess Christina and Carl Otto Werkelid. Meet the author duo during an evening at the Royal Palace!

The event is on November 20.

Princess Christina and Carl Otto Werkelid were in Falun on October 4 at The Swedish History Days conference to tell about their book of Joséphine.

Princess Christina tells about her cancer treatments at the website of Radiumhemmet's Research Funds:
Princess Christina has suffered from cancer not just once, but twice in her life.
- I am deeply grateful for the research progress of recent years that has enabled effective treatment methods for difficult cancer diseases.
As a public figure and royalty, talking about one's illnesses was taboo for a long time. Princess Christina has chosen to be open about her cancer diagnoses.
- For me, it has always felt obvious to tell. When you undergo treatment and, as in my case, become isolated, it is also good that people know why.

Oscar Magnuson was interviewed at TV4's News morning yesterday, he has designed a tealight candleholder to the Tobias Registry, the Swedish registry for blood stem cell donors. The registry was founded in 1992 by the parents of Tobias Storch, who died at the age of 17 while waiting for stem cells.
Nicole Silverstolpe, the CEO of Tobias Registry, tells that the registry has given a flower bouquet to the blood stem cell donors as a thank you. But they were thinking that they needed a more sustainable gift and started thinking if they knew someone, who could design it. And then they remembered Oscar Magnuson.
Now the Tobias Registry gives the tealight candleholder as a gift to the blood stem cell donors.
Oscar tells how he designed the candleholder. He also tells about his mother's blood cancer diagnosis, how it affected the whole family. Princess Christina is doing very well, has been healthy for some years already, her blood stem cell donor was a perfect match.

Designer Oscar Magnuson's gift to the Tobias registry - gives more chances
Finding donors for the Tobias registry is literally a matter of life and death. Designer Oscar Magnuson and Nicole Silverstolpe, CEO of Tobias Registry, discuss the importance of stem cell donation. Oscar's mother, Princess Christina, underwent a transplant following a blood cancer diagnosis – a decision that deeply affected the entire family. A donor from Germany gave hope in an otherwise dark period, and Oscar describes how the transplant was life-saving, the only alternative to a limited future.
Oscar Magnuson talks about the commitment to the Tobias registry - wants to pay tribute to stem cell donors, inspired by his mother's journey with blood cancer

The Tobias Registry is part of the Tobias Foundation. Victoria has been the patron of the Tobias Foundation since 1993.

Tord Magnuson and Erik Grönwall, Swedish rock and heavy metal singer, singer-songwriter and actor, at Confidencen (Ulriksdal Palace Theatre) in January.
Erik Grönwall writes:
"A couple of weeks ago, I was honored to be invited by my newfound friend, Tord Magnuson, to visit Sweden’s oldest theater - Confidencen at Ulriksdal Palace.
Tord and I first met when he kindly invited me to sing at Her Majesty the Queen’s 80th birthday celebration (...)
When I stepped into Confidencen for the first time, I was completely captivated by its charm and rich history. Dating back to the 18th century, this breathtaking theater has been restored to reflect its original grandeur. From its incredible interiors to its intimate stage, Confidencen is truly a time capsule of art and culture.
I couldn’t resist asking Tord if I could record a video in this magical space - and today, that dream became a reality! I can’t wait to share the result with all of you."

Princess Christina was awarded the Timmermansorden's scholarship in memory of Bo Setterlind on December 15, 2024.
"Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnuson, has worked throughout her life in both healthcare and aid to the needy, as well as in cultural life and the church. Following in the footsteps of her foremothers, whom she has also meritoriously and personally highlighted in writing, she has done everything in accordance with the motto of the Carpenters' Order: 'Fear of God and love of humanity'"
"Today it was announced that Timmermansorden's scholarship in memory of Bo Setterlind for 2024 will go to Princess Christina Fru Magnuson, among other things for her many years of work, in the Red Cross, for the vulnerable. Unfortunately, Princess Christina was unable to attend the church service, with subsequent coffee, due to her sister's funeral."

Princess Christina attended on September 22 at the "Festspill på Slottet" -concert at the series "Music at the Palace". Unfortunately no photos of her, but a lady writes
"It was a great pleasure that HRH Princess Christina was able to attend this evening."

Princess Christina's interview here, starting at page 16, parts of it:
Princess Christina underwent an allogeneic stem cell transplant in 2017 using donated stem cells from one of the international registries that the Tobias Registry collaborates with.
“I still go for annual check-ups but have long since fully recovered and feel eternal gratitude for the excellent care I received,” she says.
– It turned out that I had a pre-stage of leukemia called myelodysplastic syndrome, MDS, and I was told that the only way to treat this disease was to undergo a stem cell transplant. This was something completely different from my first cancer diagnosis, where I was told early on that the prognosis was good, says Princess Christina, explaining that she decided to accept the transplant after consultation with her family.
– We had been told that the treatment would take time and that it could entail risks, so it was not an obvious
decision. Moreover, I was 73 years old at the time. But it would turn out that the decision to accept was
the right one.

I admit everytime i see an update in this thread i quietly prays that it hasn’t happened anything bad to Christina again - and is relived everytime i see that it hasn’t…

We’ve nearly lost her twice… Let that be enough times 🙏

Princess Christina attended yesterday the premiere of the Swedish documentary film "Alexandra - syns vi inte finns vi inte" at Bio Skandia in Stockholm. The film tells about Alexandra Charles von Hofsten, who greeted Christina warmly upon arrival.

Princess Christina has had knee surgery
It wasn't just the hat that stood out at the inauguration. The princess leaned on a colorful cane and told visitors that there was a reason she had to bring it with her.
- I had knee surgery, that's why I have the cane with me...
Tord Magnuson, who was also on site at the Royal Armoury, told Svensk Damtidning that Christina had her knee surgery at Sophiahemmet at the end of May.

I suspected she had had a surgery as she did not attend the Polar Prize Award and attended Princess Ines’s christening on crutches..

The 2025 Guldarken Award is presented to Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnuson
The Guldarken is presented to one or more people who have made significant contributions to HIV through their commitment, research or other activities. It has been awarded annually by Noaks Ark since 2016.
The National Confederation Noaks Ark awards The 2025 Guldarken Award to Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnuson for her very significant contribution to HIV/AIDS as a leading vice-chair of the then Noaks Ark/Red Cross Foundation during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Quote from Princess Christina: "The strongest memory I have of my time as a board member of Noaks Ark-Red Cross is the feeling of warmth and love that flowed towards visitors in the building on Drottninggatan that the organization then operated in. Despite the difficult and distressing situation many found themselves in, this was something that distinguished all employees, volunteers and guests. That is why I accept the fine award that Noaks Ark is presenting with great gratitude."

Princess Christina received The 2025 Guldarken Award at lunch at Mälarpaviljongen yesterday
Princess Christina received a speech of praise when she received the Noaks Ark's Guldarken Award for her many years of commitment to the work against HIV and AIDS at a lunch at Mälarpaviljongen's Bakficka. Many of those who have been involved in Swedish HIV and AIDS work since the 1980s were present. An emotional princess received the award from the former Chief of Staff Jukka Aminoff, who read the motivation and gave a personal speech to princess Christina. He described Princess Christina's importance as a front figure during the late 1980s and early 1990s – a time when HIV and AIDS were still surrounded by great fear and widespread stigma.
Princess Christina warmly thanked for the award and was met with new applause.
– I am overwhelmed and moved, actually. But if you remove about half of the kind words, we will end up closer to reality. There were many of us working at that time.
She described the period as both difficult and significant.
– It was a fantastic time in many ways: scary, frustrating, interesting and actually fun too. We met so many fantastic people. Some are no longer there, but many are still here. A huge thank you to everyone who came up with this.

At today's Nyhetsmorgon (News morning) they showed princess Christina receiving The 2025 Guldarken Award on Monday, and Nyhetsmorgon's Jenny Alversjö interviewed her after the ceremony.
Christina says that the Award came as a surprise, really. It had been a while since she had been actively involved in this. The memories just came flooding back.
Christina looks back on the difficult times during the 1980s and 1990s with mixed feelings.
– Interesting and exciting but also frustrating.
What was frustrating?, asks Jenny Alversjö.
– Above all, the ignorance and fear that people showed. The stigma surrounding those who got sick and the many who died. Young people, it felt difficult, Christina says.
Christina says also that then it felt that she grew then as a person and that she would carry the experiences with her through her whole life.

Vicky Andrén Magnuson posted before Christmas photos of their Christmas tree which she and Désirée had decorated in their new home. They moved in the autumn to a new apartment with Vicky's boyfriend Fredrik Daun. Charlie is their cat.
