I don't know if this is the appropriate place for a news/picture thread of Princess Benedikte and her family. But I figure she is a Danish-born royal even if she is married to other nobility now.

I love this picture of Princess Benedikte and her husband Prince Richard. They are not photographed very often, but Princess Benedikte is a great source of support to her sister, Queen Margrethe, and often acts as Regeant when other members of the family are busy or out of the country.

Sorry, I guess I should've elaborated more instead of just copying and pasting IBL's text. I just assumed that everybody knew who she is. (The phrase at work is when you assume you make an ass of you and me! )

Princess Nathalie is the youngest daughter of Princess Benedikte, sister of Queen Margrethe, which makes her a niece of the Queen and a cousin to Princes Frederik and Joachim. Nathalie has an older sister Alexandra, married to Count Jefferson von Pfeil, and an older (unmarried) brother Gustav.

Jeg har haft hudkræft og bagefter kræft i lysken i venstre side. Jeg er blevet opereret to gange og skal nu i gang med kemoterapi.
Det bekræfter prins Richard nu offentligt, efter at Billed-Bladet, i sidste uge omtalte hans sygdom. I begyndelsen prøvede familien i Berleburg at holde enhver snak om kræft inden for hjemmets fire vægge, men efter Billed-Bladets artikel har man indset, at det er bedst at stå frem og bekræfte fakta. Ligesom dronning Margrethe altid har været åben om sine sygdomme, er hendes søster og svoger det nu også.

The article mainly says that he has skin cancer and groin cancer. It says he has been operated on twice and that he is resting. He will be undergoing chemotherapy.

I feel so badly for Prince Richard and his family. Nobody should have to suffer with cancer. It is a terrible disease.

Both are very beautiful and they have lovely skin but Princess Alexandra is the one who is in the left side of Prince Gustav, wearing sort of a black accessory in her neck. Princess Nathalie is the one who is on the right side. She is wearing the gown which is blue on the upper side and red on the lower part.

I would say that Princess Benedikte probably does smoke. Her sister, Queen Margrethe II, is a chain-smoker. In fact, Queen Margrethe came under fire several years ago when she lit up at a medical center which helped patients suffering from asthma. When asked if she had a problem, the Queen replied, "There is no problem."

They are a very quiet, dignified family. Among the three siblings, I though Princess Benedit grows old the better.Still slim, poised, and elegant.

Tactless. Hope it was a case of a very bad habit, and not a case of queen-itis.

When asked if she had a problem, the Queen replied, "There is no problem."

That is about all she can say.

As an aside, it amazes me to read how some people can smoke and smoke and not suffer the consequences. Maybe the Queen falls into this category.

And then again, I hope its not a case of denial, or denying that one is in denial.

Just imagine if she had said yes ..... the 'crisis' that would then begin, and the slumping of the Danish economy and so on ....
