Princess Beatrice seen driving to her parents' home, Royal Lodge, in Windsor, on Monday.

It's terrible how the press is now watching the daughters and interpreting their facial expressions. What did they expect? That they would smile for the cameras in such a serious situation that also affects them because it concerns their parents? Maybe they should be left alone for a while, at least.

Is it correct for the Daily Mail to refer to Royal Lodge as "grace and favour" when Prince Andrew has paid to lease it from the Crown Estate?

Royal Lodge is not a grace and favour home for Andrew. He has paid for a lease, on an arms-length basis. However, it was a grace-and-favour home for the Queen Mother.

I guess she was putting up a 'brave face' because of the press intrusion taking photographs of her while visiting her parents knowing that those photos will be scrutinized.

In my belgian newspaper more of a whole page with the translation in french about the comments of Andrew Lownie , historian about the withdrawal of Andrew's tittles. Did someone of you read this in english ? Terrrible!

This is probably in the wrong thread really.

I’ve seen quite a lot from Andrew Lownie in the past week maria-olivia, many interviews.

He said the paperback edition will now have information in it that was blocked from the hardback edition by the publishers and the lawyers.

That’s because the mood has changed now Andrew is no longer a Prince. People, the general public, are becoming aware of things they might not have know before. (I’m paraphrasing.)

To me as an Australian, and this is my life-long Royal Family, it seems surreal that Andrew has been made a commoner.

It is not a “hot, hot, hot” topic here this week, but my local library bought eight copies of the Lownie book … unheard of. Any other book is basically one copy if it is purchased at all. And all eight copies are currently out … I was going to read it.

Also, our 60 Minutes Australia put a three year old episode up on YouTube less than two weeks ago … only about one police officer’s experience of dealing with him … and it now has over two million views.

I think people, here at least, are interested.

But to me personally, the removal of Andrew’s Prince title, and expulsion from Royal Lodge, seem so extreme … well it makes me feel much more is to come out at some stage.

It can’t be that the recent publication of Ms Guiffre’s book was enough to warrant what the Royal Family have done to their family member Andrew … it seems so extreme of them to me.

My library didn't even have the book on it's 'to buy' list two months ago, and now it has 12 copies in stock, with a hold queue of 124 people 😲 Recent events have obviously stirred up a great deal of public interest.

Oh my goodness GordonHasNoPants, so many copies and still that long a wait list.

(The paperback edition will be out before you get to it.)

And it must be similar for you in Canada as it is here in Australia.

This isn’t just the British Royal Family, it is our Royal Family.

The general public didn’t really demand this action … turning Andrew into a commoner … nor the government. It was his own family that did that.

Instead of drawing a line in the sand, I think it has opened the gates for greater scrutiny in many areas/other people.

I really wonder what is to come.

It is most unfortunate that Princess Beatrice has to be scrutinized by the press. Also, she is being scrutinized when the event is not a joyous one such as a princess having gotten engaged.

What is to come , the lifes of the Princesses will change completely.

The Outward Bound Trust, which Andrew had supported for decades before his resignation as patron in 2019, announced on Friday that Beatrice has become deputy patron, while the Duke of Edinburgh has become royal patron.
I don’t know if it was intentional to announce this after Andrew’s loss of titles or how she was chosen as deputy patron. But it’s certainly a very nice gesture toward Beatrice, whether from the Trust or the Royal Family. Congratulations to Beatrice on the new appointment.

It was reported in late September that Princess Beatrice’s six-year tenure as a trustee of Outward Bound was coming to a close.

(This was prior to Virginia Giuffre’s autobiography and the York parents losing their titles and home, but after the release of the book “Entitled” and the leak of Sarah, Duchess of York’s 2011 email to Jeffrey Epstein.)

At the time, Outward Bound’s head of marketing said Beatrice's contribution was 'greatly valued' and 'a new role' would be announced 'in due course'.

Royal watchers wondered if this "in due course" was the charity’s manner of diplomatically severing ties with Princess Beatrice due to the York family scandals.

But given the latest news, it looks like Outward Bound meant exactly what it said.

I always suspected she might given a micro role or some unofficial behind the scene stuff during William’s reign, hmm this seems on par with my thoughts, either way it’s great to see the working family supporting Bea.
