Princess Alexia's Fashion and Style Part 1: September 2023 -

It's a very nice dress but I am not 100% sold on the color on her ginger self. Seems to wash her out a bit and make the dress appear to be wearing her.
I have to agree. I love the dress, but it doesn't flatter her coloring.

I like the hair. The dress is lovely but a little too deep of a cut on top. I didn't even notice her lashes like some others did.

Guess I’m in the minority here. I don’t really care for this look. She looks like she’s attending a completely different event than everyone else, for one thing. Plus- I just don’t really care for the outfit in general.

Except for the red bag and shoes. Nice pop of color. And I like the shade of red.

the red bag is from Delvaux, this most famous bag it is not for young people!

The day isn’t super-formal but I would have worn the jacket to something else or a solo event. You can tell she’s been studying on her own in London, though!

Is she wearing wedges, or chunky heels, or regular ones?

It seems she's a rockstar

I think she looks great, young -despite the Delvaux bag- and very her. Compared to the Van Vollenhovens and Laurentien she certainly was not underdressed. She also didn't overshadow her elder sister, which is good.

I like Alexia’s take on The New Look!

Well her mother famously wore a jeans jacket to queen’s day in her early years as princess (which raised many eyebrows at the time), so I guess she is just following her mother’s example.

Kudos to her for wearing comfortable and sensible shoes. I just know her mother and sister's feet were hurting at the end of the day.

Regrettably that's the only positive thing about the look. The skirt is way to baggy and envelopes her petite frame. The matronly Delveaux bag also doesn't suit her.

it is maxima's I presume? It looked out of place for the outfit and empty so pointless
I’ve always thought that carrying these clutches (mainly) or purses is ridiculous when in a situation that you’re greeting the public, shaking hands, holding flowers…Some will say that it completes the outfit but I’d rather have my hands free. Certainly, anything they might need could be carried by a lady in waiting or protection officer.

Queen Máxima's Delvaux is a Belgian bag, it might have been a gift of Queen Mathilde at one point, perhaps during the state visit. And Mathilde is also the godmother of Alexia. In Flanders even younger women buy it, I was in Antwerp on Kings Day and saw a Flemish woman in her early thirties with a shopping bag of Delvaux (with a real bag in it, I assume). But of course in Antwerp people tend to dress up and spend a lot of money on clothes.

I find the clutch silly too, but it gives them something to do with the hands. And they are perhaps simply copying the example of their mother,

Yes, it's Máxima's Delvaux bag, see here: Máxima - June 2024

The bag is expensive retailing between 6-8 thousand USD. Queen Máxima does have a rather extensive and expensive handbag collection. This one just didn't fit Alexia. A clutch would've been more age appropriate.

As the second daughter and not the future Queen, Alexia can be edgy with her clothes as demonstrated here
I thought Alexia hairstyle was really lovely and her outfit worked perfectly.
