These days, the Prince of Oettingen-Spielberg's administration, on behalf of the Hochaltingen-Oettingen United Charitable Foundation, is once again distributing Christmas gifts.
34 residents from Fremdingen, Hochaltingen, Wilburgstetten, and the town of Oettingen, who have fallen on hard times, have received support. The foundation is providing a total of €35,000 this year.

History:
Hochaltingen-Oettingen United Charitable FoundationIn 1523, Baron Walter zu Hürnheim established a hospital foundation for his estate of Hochaltingen. The proceeds from this foundation were used to build and maintain a hospital in Hochaltingen. This hospital, which today would be called a retirement home, benefited needy, mostly elderly, people. The Lords of Hürnheim were succeeded in the lordship by the Lords of Welden, from whom Prince Johann Alois I of Oettingen-Spielberg acquired the lordship, including the foundation, in 1766.
Prince Franz Albrecht I of Oettingen-Spielberg, father of Prince Johann Alois I, founded a charitable foundation in and for Oettingen in 1726. A central component was the substantial hospital at the Oettingen Wörnitz bridge, which was completely destroyed by aerial bombs on February 23, 1945.Both foundations were merged in 1950 to form the "United Charitable Foundation Hochaltingen-Oettingen."

The foundation's charter stipulates that only persons who have their permanent residence in the former Welden territory, or later the territory of the Princes of Oettingen-Spielberg, and whose need must be proven, are eligible for support.
