Prince of Wales, Current Events 2: Oct 2025 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Do you mean that William will not be King for another 15 or 20 years .
I do not think the poster was referring to Robert Irwins popularity in Australia just that he is Australian.
Yes. I was referring to the fact that Robert Irwin is an Australian citizen and that Australia is currently a constitutional monarchy.
As for his popularity or that of his family members, I have no opinion. :ausflag2:

No, I meant that there will probably be a referendum on a republic in Australia in another fifteen to twenty years. By which time younger Aussies, too young to vote in general elections now, will be voting on the issue.

And yes, Robert Irwin is Australian. His mother Terri Irwin is an American and perhaps because of family ties, career opportunities or whatever, both Robert and Bindi Irwin have spent a lot of time doing things in the US lately.
The people in the USA during Steve Irwin's year were very emotional about his tragic passing because he was a regular fixture in USA TV programs. The love for him from the generation that grew up watching his appearances was transferred to his daughter when she did Dancing with the Stars.

Having her brother on the show and inviting Prince William in was a PR hit. Plus, if Robert gets more job opportunities in the USA, because he's starting to look like a young Brad Pitt, then he should take them.

BTW Prince William visited Robert in Africa during filming last year, they are aquatinted with each other and that's why he was probably asked to surprise him with a video call in Dancing with the Stars

And then again this year from Brazil

In another fifteen to twenty or so years? Most unlikely, imo.
And Robert Irwin, who isn’t extraordinarily popular in Australia anyway, seems to be spending a lot of time over in the US in past months, along with his sister Bindi and her American husband who seem to have settled there.
Maybe not among the older set in Melbs, Curryong, but he's got a huge amount of younger fans, particularly in his home state!

Can I make a prediction I might not live long enough to see? One day a future King William will knight Robert and Bindi Irwin.

The 20 year old has a furious fanbase on that show from his generation. I'm more his dad's generation since he was 2 years younger than me.

[…]
His son was too young to know him, or remember his dad and yet he acts like him. Humble, charismatic and appreciative of anyone that takes the time to talk to him. I now see why Prince William has become involved in Robert's projects, both lost one of their parents at an early age and both know how to be grateful when people approach them as extensions of that magic personality Princess Diana and Steve Irwin projected toward others.

Robert is actually a very decent young person, as is his sister. It’s very easy for people to look at them with skepticism given the showbiz aspect and if you don’t know too much of their background. The Irwin kids were brought up well-grounded and that, in my humble opinion, comes through on-screen and in their interactions with other people, particularly those who have met them in everyday circumstances. I think that William and Robert share many similarities and interests in environmental issues that have seen them build something of a rapport, which is a good thing. I hope your prediction comes true @Toledo!

I think one of the people standing next to him is the CEO who slept rough with him many years ago. Sometimes I have the impression that some people think he mainly visits sports events, but the fact that I remember who is working at a charity shows IMO how consistent he has been for a long time already.

I also understand that he has had an history of making private and unannounced visits to Centerpoint over the last 20 years.

Adjoa Andoh looks very happy to receive her Member of the Order of the British Empire from The Prince of Wales today. For those who don't remember, during coronation, she commented the balcony appearance was "terribly white".

Great engagement. Do we know if the Princess might be doing something similar for her military affiliations?
Its a tradition in the British military for "junior ranks" to be served Christmas dinner by those higher ranking than them to show appreciation and thanks for all they do at Christmas time. So Catherine's military affiliations will almost certainly have done the same, even without her being there.
