Royal House of Denmark shares new photos of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie at the Invictus Games.

Great pictures of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie at the games! The interaction between them and the athletes puts the attention on the athletes. Good to see!

Yesterday, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended a reception hosted by the Danish Ambassador to the United States in honour of Morten Bødskov, Minister of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, who's on an official visit to the United States:

Post by the Danish Embassy in US posting photos of a Spring dinner held and where Prince Joachim gave what sounds like a very entertaining speech

Thank you for sharing! Princess Marie attended as well (see the last photo of the gallery), so I've moved your post over to this thread here.

DR1 in particular has aired several clips of Joachim on the job. That comes as a consequence of a debate of what Joachim will or should do once he returns to DK. It is expected that J&M will return to DK next year, or if his posting is extended in two years. In that light there has been a focus on what it is he is doing in USA. You may find quite a few articles and videos on Dr.dk.

Joachim has been both praised for his work and he has managed to present himself and the work he is doing in a very human way that also shows an enthusiastic and dedicated side of Joachim that we usually don't see. - When something really works, it's a yes-moment for Joachim! And he show it. People like that. - There will of course always be people who don't like Joachim, and no matter what he does, it's not good enough.
However he has been praised highly by people within the defense industry and people who actually know what they are talking about within the defense industry, like the specialized media Olfi,dk and Danish Industry. And contacts have been established and agreements have been made, so Joachim has earned his apanage while in Washington.
It has been said about him before that he could have a fine career within diplomacy and that he is very good a business meetings.
His job has basically been to knock on the doors of US defense firms and get them to try and meet Danish defense companies to learn what they may have to offer. (And keep in mind that DK is already the country that supplies most of the sensor systems of for example the F-35 fighter.) Most of the time it's Brigadier Joachim who is doing the talking, but when it can open doors then it's Brigadier Prince Joachim who is talking. He uses his title sparingly, but where it matters.
The result is, according to the Danish ambassador, that now it's representatives from US defense firms, who are very close to executive decisions who approach the Danish embassy and not junior representatives who can basically only ask questions and write a report.
So he has been doing well.

The question is of course what to do with J&M once they return to DK. The Regent Couple are very busy these days and they will be doing a lot of traveling abroad and they will also spend a lot of time at the office and it's here an experienced royal couple like J&M can come in. It is presumed that will take over a number of protections from the Regent Couple and that means Marie will be much more visible. She will basically be the next Benedikte. Here there and everywhere perhaps with relatively little press, but still out and about. And she is good at that so that should work well. It is also more or less expected that Joachim will remain in the military, probably at the Defense Command or the Ministry of Defense. He has gained a lot of experience as a military-diplomat that is valuable which he teach other senior officers and he can still act as a go-between between Danish companies and foreign governments, military representatives and defense firms. It is not expected that he will accept a no doubt lucrative job for a defense firm, given his royal status.

We shall see.

J&M's presence in DK should come in useful now that the next generation has taken the baton, and now that their kids aren't really all that old to be helping with duties etc as they have to mind their studies, specially the youngest, who i believe will not get an appanage. even if Christian has been more involved lately, an extra couple of hands at this moment are surely welcome. i think the 4 would make a great team.

I think a more visible Princess Marie would be most welcome to many danes… Some may have a mixed view of Joachim but i don’t think i have ever heard a bad word being said about Marie…

And Joachim has indeed gained a deep knowledge and experience in diplomacy and military affairs now, that i’m sure the danish foreign and defense ministries wants to continue to use…

And i’m sure they could be a good help to the royal couple now in the ”transitional years” when the children are still too young to become working royals, and QMII are beginning to slow down…

Benedikte who seems to be the one of the 3 sisters who are in the best health, may still have some years in her as a working royal, but i’m sure the addition of Marie would be most welcome

It's such a blessing that F&M and J&M have good relationships. Otherwise Fred would have become another William :/

True this seems the mostly case, but I seem to remember that it didn’t sit well when the titles of Joachims kids were removed. But I’m guessing probably it was more of a Margrethe decision and less of a Frederik decision? In any case they seem to have recovered from that.

If i recall correctly, The King hinted in an interview that the relationship with his brother was a little bit complicated… But Frederik has never been a man of big and dramatic words (i guess he heard enough of that in his childhood with his father) so that could mean a lot….

It will be interesting to see the dynamic between the 2 families when J & M moves to Denmark…

But as Frederik and Joachim has met several times since the accession, i don’t think they are down to ”Frederik IX & Prince Knud” levels

Joachim and Marie were the ones that hinted that the relationship was complicated.
I don't recall Frederik saying anything but that he loves his brother.
It's best to work out anything away from the press. At least in public since Frederik has become King, they have greeted each other warmly.
Marie and Mary were also seeing having a good chat at the Egyptian state visit.

Yesterday, December 5, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended a joint Christmas reception of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands in Washington, D.C.:

At a memorial ceremony held on Monday, Princess Marie delivered a speech honoring fallen allies and those who served and sacrificed alongside American forces.
