To me he will go to a High School.Strange the word Académie.
Thanks. By 'high school' I suppose you mean 'hogeschool', which would be 'a university of applied science' or polytechnic or something along those lines, i.e. a type of teaching-focused higher education (in contrast to a more research-focused university). To me he will go to a High School.Strange the word Académie.
That's not correct, it was also used in the press release from the court. In the French version it says "une académie" and in the Dutch version it says "een academie".The word "academy" was used by a journalist, not by a press release from court.
This news makes me wonder if he will eventually stay in the Army even after finishing the Academy for a full time career, serving his country this way considering he cannot be a full time royal while he is (and will be for a few more years) the "spare" of the RF.
Prince Gabriel, as part of his training at the Royal Military Academy, will be going to the Académie Militaire de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan in France for a five-month Erasmus term starting this month. He will study geopolitics in English.

I agree with you, he has to maintain a certain lifestyle, but he's still doing the full 3 year course, so, as I said before, perhaps he'll pursue other interests once he finishes his studies at the KMS, but so far he seems to really love it (which is great).A full time carreer in the army, as in for the next decades you mean? I don't see that happening, if only for the fact that he will have to provide for himself and the army salary does not finance an upper class life style. I would imagine a trajectory as his cousins Amedeo and Joachim will be more likely and he will end up in a discreet but well paid carreer path such as finance eventually. But we will see.
If he is in active service, I am not sure if he will be able to pursue a master's degree immediately after graduating from the Royal Military Academy as he will have to report to his assigned unit for specialist training and/or operational deployment. His Erasmus starts this month! Only Eléonore left at home.
I also believe Gabriël will stay in the army. Although he'll only be 22 when he graduates next year, so he could still pursue a master's degree in *something else* somewhere else. We'll see.
Of all the royals out there, the Belgians are the one who looks more austere and prone to live a more down to earth lifestyle (but maybe they're just more discreet about it unlike other royals). So I can see Gabriel doing that, especially since he has opted for the full course at the RMA and I am sure he has some savings/funds that can help him living as a prince in the meantime. On the other hand, if he decides to live as a civilian, I don't see him pursuit a finance career: his current studies are suggesting something different at the moment. Given his A Levels in maths and physics a scientific/technological field is more likely.A full time carreer in the army, as in for the next decades you mean? Gabriel’s uncle and cousin work at a bank in Switzerland (and did spe ialize in that area), so that was what Marengo was referring to, more than just banking in on your name in London. I'm quite sure the latter would not fit Philippe and Mathilde's expectations for their son (and spare).Lots and lots of aristocratic men without an academic profile of economics, but with an international network of rich, influential people work in the banking industry. Why do you think London is so popular among these circles? They all work in the city. Not necessarily with numbers or on the floor, no they bring in the clients and at the same time they get a huge salary and bonuses. Will Gabriel do the same, no idea but I'm certain he won't go for a career in the military. His name will get him into any branch he's interesed in anyway.
I agree with @Somebody when they says it would completely go against Philippe's and Mathilde's upbringing principles if their children "milked" their names and titles. Surely they have their perks and we saw it when Elisabeth was front and center during her graduation in Oxford, but P and M have always given their children space to explore and fulfill their interests freely but especially without any interference or privilege.Lots and lots of aristocratic men without an academic profile of economics, but with an international network of rich, influential people work in the banking industry. As we have discussed in another forum, a military career in most cases is not a life-long career anyway.A full time carreer in the army, as in for the next decades you mean? And also King Albert II too!He looks kind of like his father!
