Prince Emanuele Filiberto appeals to Italian institutions and public opinion to demand "the return to the homeland of the mortal remains of the last sovereigns".
King Umberto II and his consort are buried in Hautecombe, France.

King Vittorio Emanuele III has returned to Italy in 2017 and lies in the sanctuary of Vicoforte. His son was less controversial so I can't see why this would be impossible. Though of course it is a nice idea that the last reigning member of the Savoy dynasty is actually resting in Savoy, where Hautecombe Abbey is located.

Prince Emanuele Filiberto gave an interview to corriere.it. In this interview, the Prince revealed that he has been separated for four years and has a partner. He also reveals that his mother recently overcame esophageal cancer. He also talks about the process to recover the Royal Family's jewels that are in a bank in Italy, and says that if necessary, they will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. He also talks about her daughters, saying that Luisa studies law in Spain, and Vittoria studies acting, art, history and has her own company with which she launches and promotes young artists.
Prince Emanuele Filiberto reveals that he has purchased a house in Umbria, Italy, but will only reside in the country when his personal belongings are returned to him. Emanuele Filiberto lives in Monaco.

On Saturday, March 15, the traditional mass was celebrated in remembrance of King Umberto II and Queen Maria José, where they were buried in the Altacomba Abbey. Prince Emanuele Filiberto was present.

Wow, amazing interview. I was moved at times (him remembering his walk to the hospital to see his father, his grandma dealing with Hitler). He can be silly but I've never found him to be unlikeable.

Also, I can't believe his house in L.A used to belong to Johnny Hallyday! How sad that it burned down like so many.
