Compared to the funeral mass for Pope Francis, there will be likely far fewer heads of state in attendance at Leo XIV's inaugural mass, which makes things easier for the Vatican protocol. I wonder if they will go back to the traditional order of precedence and have the monarchs sit together in the front row.

Surprised to see Crown Princess Victoria attending (though it is not yet officially confirmed by the swedish royal court)

The nordic countries have usually been represented by their ambassadors at the papal inagurations.

Will we see the privilege of white in action?

I'd imagine that prince Albert II and Princess Charlene will also attend.

Victoria's attendance has been confirmed - put to the calendar.

From the Netherlands:

H. M. Queen Maxima
I suspected that, after missing the late Pope's funeral, Queen Maxima would attend the inauguration of the new one.

Yes, it's very likely. In 2013, at the inaugural Mass of Pope Francis, Queen Paola and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore white. I don't think Queen Sofia of Spain attended (Spain was represented by the then Prince and Princess of Asturias).
It was a formal dress code, Felipe was in full uniform, Maxima in a long dress, the Spanish PM in white tie.

No confirmation so far from the new popes native country… The First Lady, The Vice President and The Secretary of State are all catholics

The Ex President ,the former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and so on.
No news either on the Irish President ,he was very frail looking at the funeral of Pope Francis and his wife was sobbing her eyes out.

Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy will attend the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV.

Although he is still married, Emanuele Filiberto is publicly adulterous (or so it seems). Should he be denied communion? What would the traditionalists who aupport no sacraments for remarried people say about that?

The Prime Minister was raised as a catholic too, so I suppose him being there makes more sense than that of the King.

First inauguration with privilège du Blanc for Queens Mathilde and Letizia , last time for Grand Duchess Maria Teresa , I hope she will wear a Veil .

Anyone from Denmark?
No. There is no confirmation from Denmark or Norway so far…

The scandinavian countries have usually been represented by their ambassadors to the papal inagurations so we’ll see how they do…

It looks like JD Vance will represent the United States at the inaugural mass.

Danish magazine Billed-Bladet has contacted the Palace for a statement whether King Frederik and/or Queen Mary will attend and were told that they won't.

Queen Mary represented the Danish royal house at Pope Francis' funeral ceremony on Saturday, April 26, but neither the Queen nor King Frederik will attend the papal inauguration on Sunday.

The royal house confirms this to BILLED-BLADET

The Scandinavian kingdoms have tiny RC populations ,especially Denmark so I don't expect to see the Danish King or Queen.

This is an odd thing to say. John Paul the first’s reign lasted 33 days. Who knows what the future will hold.

:previous: Of course, nobody knows when the end will come but it is reasonable to expect that the current pope will live for another 4 months. If he does, it will be Stephanie of Luxembourg who -under normal circumstances- will attend the inauguration of the next pope (which might very well be 20 years away).
