Pope Francis Current Events Part 5

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
It does indeed feel like we are going 2 steps forward and then suddenly 3 steps backwards…

I still hope and pray that he will make it back - but the positive feeling i had in the beginning of his hospital stay, is gradually sinking i’m afraid…
Yes especially seeing as Pope Francis was admitted to hospital 18 days ago with pneumonia and is still in hospital.
He will miss Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent a very solemn time for Christians.

New update this morning on Pope Francis' health.
Pope Francis rested well overnight and woke up slightly after 8 a.m. this morning, according to a statement published on Wednesday morning by the Holy See Press Office.

The Pope is receiving treatment for bilateral pneumonia at Rome's Gemelli Hospital. His overall clinical condition remains stable, including heart, kidney, and blood values.

Today, at the end of the afternoon, a new statement was released about Pope Francis' health.
The Holy Father also remained stationary today without showing episodes of respiratory failure.
As planned, during the day, he underwent high-flow oxygen therapy and during the night, non-invasive mechanical ventilation will be resumed.
The Holy Father increased respiratory physiotherapy and active motor therapy.
He spent the day in a chair.
Given the complexity of the clinical picture, the prognosis remains reserved.
This morning, in the private apartment on the 10th floor, the Holy Father participated in the rite of blessing of the Holy Ashes that were imposed on him by the celebrant, then he received the Eucharist.
He then dedicated himself to some work activities.
Also during the morning, he called Fr. Gabriel Romanelli, parish priest of the Holy Family of Gaza.
In the afternoon, he alternated rest with work.

So it appears that Pope Francis is stable at the moment, though still receiving ongoing care and treatment in hospital. If he has to miss Lent etc that is sad but it just has to be at the moment. I am still anxious about the Pope’s overall strength at this time, and it doesn’t look as if he will be leaving hospital any time soon.

While i’m still hoping and praying that his return to the Vatican will be in a car, and not in a hearse - it does indeed not look like he is in a state where the doctors will release him anytime soon…

Reading between the lines of what they say, it is clear that his medical condition is very serious and that the doctors is unable to promise anything or make any prognoses…

I also can’t help but wonder, if he makes it, in what condition will he return to the vatican after these demanding treatments, and what will he be able to do ? Francis does not view himself as a desk pope. He loves to travel and he loves to be out among his people.. If that part is taken away from him, i don’t think he will find that easy to accept…

This morning new information was released about Pope Francis' health:

"The night passed quietly; the Pope is still resting," the Holy See Press Office informed journalists on Thursday morning.

New update on Pope Francis' health.
“The Holy Father's clinical condition has remained stable compared to previous days.

He has not experienced any episodes of respiratory insufficiency today. The Pope has continued both respiratory and motor physiotherapy with beneficial effects. Hemodynamic parameters and blood test results remain stable.

He did not run a fever. However, the prognosis remains reserved.

Given the stability of his clinical condition, the next medical bulletin will be issued on Saturday.

Today, the Holy Father engaged in some work activities in both the morning and afternoon, alternating them with periods of rest and prayer. Before lunch, he received the Eucharist.”

Yikes everytime they uses the words ”passed” and ”pope” in the same sentence, i get scared 🤦🏻‍♂️

I agree. At this stage in his life, the ongoing setbacks will take time to recover from.

Yesterday evening, the Pope sent a brief recorded audio-message (where he speaks in Spanish) to thank people for their prayers for his health:
I thank you with all my heart for the prayers you offer for my health from [St. Peter’s] Square. I accompany you from here. May God bless you, and may the Virgin protect you. Thank you."

As it's perfecly normal under these circumstances, he sounds rather weak and tired in the recording

The Pope did sound very weak but it is a positive sign and hope I'm not being too optimistic.

This morning a new update was made:
"The Pope had a restful night and woke up shortly after 8:00," the Holy See Press Office explained in a statement to journalists on Friday morning.

Update on Pope Francis' health status.
The Holy Father's clinical condition over the last few days has remained stable and, consequently, shows a good response to the therapies.

There is therefore a gradual, mild improvement.

The Holy Father has been without a fever at all times. Breathing gas exchange has improved; results from blood chemistry and blood count examinations are stable.

In order to monitor these initial improvements also in the coming days, the doctors prudently maintain that the prognosis is still guarded.

This morning, after receiving the Eucharist, the Holy Father prayed in the chapel of the private apartment, while in the afternoon he alternated between rest and work activities.

The Holy See Press Office also added, that:

As planned, the Pope, after receiving high-flow oxygenation with nasal cannulas during the day, will switch to non-invasive mechanical ventilation during the night.

The Pope will follow the spiritual exercises, which begin tomorrow, in spiritual communion with the Roman Curia. The text of the Pope's Angelus will be distributed as done so already on recent Sundays.

Tomorrow, the medical update may not be published, given the stability of his clinical condition, but the Press Office will still provide information to journalists.

Even though the prognosis is very guarded (as is natural) ‘gradual, mild improvement’ does at least give some cause for optimism. Wonderful that, weak as he is Pope Francis has been able to record messages of thanks.

This morning a new update was made about Pope Francis, who remains hospitalized.
The Holy See Press Office has reported that, "overnight was quiet and the Pope is resting." The message came on Sunday morning, 9 March, regarding Pope Francis, who has been receiving care at Rome's Gemelli Hospital since 14 February.

The situation seems to have stabilized to some degree over the recent days…

The pope has a long road of recovery ahead of him and fingers crossed that he can enter that road with no new major setbacks !

Pope Francis has spent his 24th consecutive day in the hospital.

This morning a new statement was released about the health of Pope Francis, who remains hospitalized.
The Holy See Press Office released a statement on Monday morning to provide an update on the Pope's recovery.

"The Pope had a quiet night, and is resting," read the statement.

According to the statement released this afternoon, Pope Francis' health has been improving.
“The Holy Father's clinical condition remains stable.

The improvements recorded in previous days have been further consolidated, as confirmed by both blood tests and clinical findings, as well as by the Pope’s good response to pharmacological therapy.

For these reasons, the doctors have decided today to lift their guarded prognosis. However, given the complexity of the Pope’s clinical picture and the severe infection present at the time of hospitalization, it will still be necessary to continue pharmacological treatment in a hospital setting for a period of time.

This morning, the Holy Father was able to follow the Spiritual Exercises via a video link with the Paul VI Hall; he then received the Eucharist and went to the chapel of his private apartment for a moment of prayer.

In the afternoon, he again joined the Curia's Spiritual Exercises, following them via video link. Throughout the day, he alternated between prayer and rest.”

I am so glad to see this gradual improvement in the Pope’s overall condition, though of course everyone must still be a bit cautious about it, considering his age. Very happy that he is getting lots of rest as well. The body often heals during sleep.

I think the Pope has a long road of recovery ahead and there may not be any over sea's visits for some time.
I'm think given his age we must very cautious.

A new statement has now been released regarding Pope Francis' health.
The clinical condition of the Holy Father has remained stable in the context of an overall complex medical picture.

The chest X-ray performed yesterday has radiologically confirmed the improvements observed in the previous days.

The Holy Father continues to undergo high-flow oxygen therapy during the day and non-invasive mechanical ventilation during nighttime rest.

This morning, after following the spiritual exercises in a link-up with the Paul VI Hall in the Vatican, he received the Eucharist, dedicated time to prayer, and then continued with physical therapy.

In the afternoon, after joining the spiritual exercises of the Curia, he continued with prayer, rest, and respiratory physiotherapy.

Today marks the 12th year of the pontificate of Pope Francis!

This Saturday's update on Pope Francis' health.
The clinical condition of the Holy Father remains stable, confirming the progress observed in the past week. High-flow oxygen therapy continues, progressively reducing the need for non-invasive mechanical ventilation during the night.

The Holy Father still requires hospital medical care, as well as physiotherapy and respiratory physiotherapy. These therapies are currently showing further, gradual improvements.

The Holy See Press Office also informed journalists that Pope Francis spent most of his day with therapy, prayer, rest, and some work.

Tomorrow, the Angelus will be distributed as on previous Sundays. And the next medical bulletin is expected to be released on Tuesday or Wednesday, while the Press Office will continue to provide journalists with some general information during the evenings.

This afternoon, a new photo of Pope Francis was released, the first since he was hospitalized.

New update on Pope Francis' health:
The Pope's condition is stable with slight improvements thanks to respiratory and motor therapy.

He is using high-flow oxygen therapy with nasal cannulas less frequently and, at times, can do without oxygen therapy. At night, he uses non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

The swelling in his hand, seen in the photo taken and published yesterday, is due to reduced mobility, but it has already improved today.

The Pope spent the day in prayer, resting, and doing some work.

The next medical bulletin is scheduled for Wednesday. Tomorrow evening, the Press Office will provide journalists with some general updates, as it did today.

It’s good to read of the slight but notable improvements in Pope Francis’s health. He has had a long period as Pontiff which must have been quite stressful at times. Pope Francis appears to be a man who wishes to do his duty to the end. I’m just wondering whether a period of complete rest, relaxation, a life without any worry, might be the way to go from now on. In other words retirement.
