First update of the day on Pope Francis' health:
Pope Francis had a peaceful ninth night in the hospital, the Holy See Press Office published on Sunday morning, issuing its latest note to journalists as the Holy Father is being treated for double pneumonia at Rome's Gemelli Hospital.

Pope Francis is still receiving a high flow of oxygen - but has suffered no further crisis, Vatican sources have said.
The sources added the Pope is eating normally, and that clinical tests are ongoing.

Today, late afternoon, a new update on Pope Francis' health status came out:
The Holy See Press Office provided the following medical update on Pope Francis on Sunday evening:

"The condition of the Holy Father remains critical, but since yesterday evening, he has not experienced any further respiratory crises.

He received two units of concentrated red blood cells with benefit, and his hemoglobin levels have risen.

The thrombocytopenia remains stable; however, some blood tests show early, mild renal insufficiency, which is currently under control.

High-flow oxygen therapy continues through nasal cannulas.

The Holy Father remains alert and well-oriented.

The complexity of the clinical situation and the necessary time for the pharmacological treatments to show results require that the prognosis remain reserved.

This morning, in the apartment on the tenth floor, he participated in the Holy Mass, together with those who have been taking care of him during these days of hospitalization."

The Holy See calls upon all the Cardinals resident in Rome, the Roman Curia and all the staff of the Diocese of Rome, recalling the sentiment of the People of God, to gather in St. Peter's Square at 9:00 p.m. to recite the Holy Rosary for the health of the Holy Father. Today's prayer will be presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.

New update on Pope Francis' health status.
The clinical conditions of the Holy Father in their criticality show a slight improvement.
Even today there were no episodes of asthmatic respiratory crises; some laboratory tests have improved.
Monitoring of the mild renal insufficiency does not cause concern. Oxygen therapy continues, although with slightly reduced flows and percentage of oxygen.
The doctors, considering the complexity of the clinical picture, prudentially do not yet release the prognosis. In the morning he received the Eucharist, while in the afternoon he resumed work.
In the evening he called the Parish Priest of the Parish of Gaza to express his paternal closeness. Pope Francis thanks all the people of God who have gathered in recent days to pray for his health.

“Pope Francis rested well throughout the night”, according to the latest update from the Holy See Press Office.

This afternoon a new statement was released about Pope Francis' health:

Today in the late afternoon, a new statement about Pope Francis' health was released:
On Wednesday evening, the Holy See Press Office provided the following update on Pope Francis' health:

"The Holy Father's condition has shown a slight further improvement over the past 24 hours. The mild kidney insufficiency observed in recent days has subsided. A chest CT scan carried out last night showed a normal progression of the lung inflammation. Blood tests conducted today confirmed the improvement seen yesterday.

The Holy Father remains on high-flow oxygen therapy but has not experienced any asthma-like respiratory episodes today. Respiratory physiotherapy is continuing. Despite the slight improvement, his prognosis remains guarded.

This morning, the Holy Father received the Eucharist, and in the afternoon, he resumed his work."

For selfish reasons I want His Holiness to recover. There is so much going on in the world and in my own country right now(USA). And as a Roman Catholic I have always found papal conclaves to be kind of stressful.

So with everything else happening....it would be too much.

I am praying that the pope will outlast this crisis.

New statement:
The Holy See Press Office said on Thursday morning that Pope Francis slept well and spent the first part of the morning resting.
“The Pope slept well during the night and is now resting”, read a brief statement.

New statement on Pope Francis' health released this afternoon:
The clinical conditions of the Holy Father are also confirmed today as improving.
Today he alternated high flow oxygen therapy with ventimask.
Given the complexity of the clinical picture, further days of clinical stability are necessary to resolve the prognosis.
The Holy Father dedicated the morning to respiratory physiotherapy alternating it with rest, while in the afternoon after another physiotherapy session he gathered in prayer in the Chapel of the private apartment located on the 10th floor, receiving the Eucharist; then he dedicated himself to work activities.

This morning a new statement was released about Pope Francis' health:
The Holy See Press Office said on Saturday morning that Pope Francis slept well and spent the first part of the morning resting.

"After a quiet night, the Pope is resting", read the brief Holy See Press Office statement.

This afternoon a new statement was released about Pope Francis' health:
"The Holy Father's clinical condition remained stable.

He alternated between non-invasive mechanical ventilation and long periods of supplemental high-flow oxygenation, maintaining a good response to gas exchange.

The Holy Father does not have a fever and shows no leukocytosis [high white blood cell count].

His haemodynamic parameters have always remained stable; he has continued eat on his own and has regularly undergone respiratory physiotherapy, in which he cooperates actively.

He has not experienced any further episodes of bronchospasm.

The Holy Father remains alert and oriented.

He received the Eucharist on Saturday afternoon, then devoted himself to prayer.
The prognosis remains guarded."

Pope Francis does appear to be maintaining his strength and is in stable condition, at the moment anyway. Time, as with all things will provide a solution one way or another.
Everyone prays of course that the Pope will recover. If he doesn’t that will be a severe blow, but at least this man has lived a full and rich life, advocating for others and for world peace.

I have a bad feeling about this when I consider his age and frail health at the moment. I don't follow a lot of Vatican news but the pictures I've been seen lately and the ones I remember of him from few months or years back show how his health has been taking a bad turn in a short time.
Let's hope for the best for the Holy Father.

Sunday morning update on Pope Francis' health:
On Sunday morning the Holy See Press Office reported that, "the Pope is still resting following a peaceful night."

Today, at the end of the afternoon, a new statement was released about Pope Francis' health:
"Today, too, the Holy Father's clinical condition has remained stable. The Pope has not required non-invasive mechanical ventilation, but only supplemental high-flow oxygenation. He does not have a fever.
Given the complexity of the clinical picture, the prognosis remains guarded.
This morning, the Holy Father participated in Holy Mass, together with those who have been caring for him during these days of hospitalization. Afterward, he alternated rest with prayer."

The latest updates on the Pope's health

Ive been following these updates on Pope Francis’s health every day and, thank heavens, they have been as candid and clear as can be. I am not a Roman Catholic obviously and I dont know why I care so much. Its just that Pope Francis has imo been an extremely good Pontiff, and in times like the world is facing now we need leaders of good will, mercy and justice for all, whom he represents.

I agree… I’m also thankful that the vatican doesn’t leave much over for speculations but lets people know on a daily basis how the pope is…

That’s the most effective way of fending off gossip media rumours and all the false ai-generated stories that are flooding all over internet…

Pope Francis has really made himself a respected voice with authority even far outside of his church when it comes to promoting decency, humanity and peace - in a world where there seems to be less decency, humanity and peace for every year… His voice is definitely still needed…

He will ofcourse be succeeded one day, and at the age of 88 with a fragile health, that day is no longer far away… But he will be a hard act to follow and i hope they won’t have to think about that question just yet 🙏

The Pope is taking comfort with all the prayers and good wishes and even outside the hospital where those nuns have been holding daily vigils.
The Pope did release a message where he said 'he was living his time in hospital as an experience of solidarity with people who are sick and suffering everywhere, and thanked his doctors for their care and all the well-wishers for their prayers'.

This morning another update was given on Pope Francis' health.
"Pope Francis slept well throughout the night", the Holy See Press Office said on Monday morning.

After he woke up, the Holy Father had breakfast and began the day's therapies. A further update on the Pope's condition is expected Monday evening.

Breaking News:
Pope Francis suffers two episodes of acute respiratory insufficiency
On Monday evening, the Holy See Press Office released the following update on Pope Francis’ health:

“Today, the Holy Father suffered two episodes of acute respiratory insufficiency, caused by a significant accumulation of endobronchial mucus and consequent bronchospasm.

Two bronchoscopies were therefore performed, with the need to remove large secretions.

In the afternoon, non-invasive mechanical ventilation was resumed. The Holy Father remained alert, oriented and cooperative at all times.

The prognosis remains guarded.”

First update of the day on Pope Francis' health:
Pope Francis slept well throughout the night after suffering two respiratory insufficiencies on Monday, according to the Holy See Press Office.
“The Pope slept through the night and now continues to rest”, said the Holy See Press Office on Tuesday morning.

This afternoon a new update was made on Pope Francis' health
The clinical condition of the Holy Father today has remained stable.

He has not experienced episodes of respiratory failure or bronchospasm.

He has remained without a fever, always alert, cooperative with therapies, and oriented.

This morning he transitioned to high-flow oxygen therapy and underwent respiratory physiotherapy.

As scheduled, tonight he will resume non-invasive mechanical ventilation until tomorrow morning.

The prognosis remains guarded.

During the day he alternated between spending time in prayer and at rest, and this morning he received the Eucharist.

He seems to recover briefly and then alas have set backs as with last night.
I don't have a good feeling about the Pope's health.
Neither do I I’m afraid. It appears to be two steps forward one day and the next day three steps back. And the physical stresses of these setbacks and his constant treatment would be a strain on someone twenty years younger than Pope Francis.

It does indeed feel like we are going 2 steps forward and then suddenly 3 steps backwards…

I still hope and pray that he will make it back - but the positive feeling i had in the beginning of his hospital stay, is gradually sinking i’m afraid…
