Marius Borg Høiby News & Current Events Part 1: December 2023 -

The Frogner woman wants to lift the restraining order against Marius. The police say no.
The former couple has frequent contact, VG is aware that they have met several times recently. On Wednesday last week, the police questioned the Frogner woman again. VG knows that she and Marius were together that day, in the morning Marius' car was observed heading towards the city center shortly before the interrogation began. He drove her to the city.
The woman's defense lawyer Mette Yvonne Larsen doesn't want to comment, nor do Marius' defense lawyers Petar Sekulic and Ellen Holager Andenæs.
VG has asked the police several questions, including why the police do not enforce the restraining order and what effect a restraining order has when it is broken without sanctions. The police don't want to answer.
– We do not wish to comment on the individual questions beyond what you received last week, writes press manager Unni T. Grøndal in the Oslo Police District.

I thought restraining orders was meant to protect victims from people who had done them harm…

This rather gives the impression of 2 more-than-spoiled brats living far above the law in the Oslo upper class areas, and the police knows it all but lets them be because the arrests are already full of other idiots awaiting trial already…

Or she is a double-victim. Of her idiotic father, who seems to have no problems with Marius abusing his daughter. Which of course raise questions about hos the Frogner woman's father is as a husband.
And a victim of Marius as well.
If she is used to "macho-men" around her and that men are like that, then she is the perfect perpetual victim of an abuser.
She may on top of that be naive, who knows. But a victim, that she is!

Yes, Sure, but she can be a victim and be a spoiled willful stupid person as well. Maybe she doesn't care what Marius did to her and doesn't see it as a crime against her. That is quite possible. The most stupid thing about this particular case is that the police are shown to be useless and ridiculous by letting these two people completely and utterly ignore the restraining order.

Or maybe she's a masochist and she and Marius were (are?) in some kind of BDSM relationship. It's not my thing, but seems like some people do draw pleasure from pain. I remember watching a documentary about "kinky" relationship where one get pleasure from drinking their partner's blood like a vampire.

When Marius issued a public apology to the Frogner woman in August 2024, the woman's lawyer reacted saying the Frogner woman had been wanting Marius to own up and apologize for some time, so the Frogner woman apparently did think he owed her an apology.

Marius is currently not taking legal action to stop the second book of him: "Out of Control: The Revelation of Marius Borg Høiby".
- At the moment, we are not focused on this book, but on the criminal case that will begin in court in a relatively short time, says lawyer Elias Christensen to Dagbladet.

It's interesting that the police aren't using these alleged violations to toss him in jail -- wasn't breaking a restraining order one of the things that landed him jail for a few days early on?

I feel like they're letting all this stuff stack up for some strategic reason.
Its all completely ludicrous and he had the gall to try and block the publications of those books after everything he has been accused with!
The sooner he is put away the better!

I wouldn’t be surprised is she’s not being financially compensated. Idiot!
I think that's very likely.
First of all, I don't believe she will testify against Marius and if she does, she will play it down.
And any good defense attorney should be able to pick her apart.
Marius will in this case, get away with at worst a slap over the fingers.
- Yeah, I thrashed the apartment a little bit, but I wasn't myself, poor little me was drunk and I had issues from being overlooked and sidelined as a child. I'm soooo sorry, bou-hou.
And: Yeah, alright, Marius did stick a knife in the wall, but only because he loves me so... He would never ever hurt me. He's so kind and gentle and misunderstood.

I have few illusions about that one.

Dropping the case against the publisher of the second book could also be because further legal proceedings, which cost a lot of money, are no longer affordable. He himself has no money at all, and his dear grandmother will also reach her limits.
Our tabloid "Bild" reported yesterday that paying the lawyers will cost an enormous amount of money, since they have been working on the case since August 2024, and not just one lawyer, but several.

The headline in the article, which is behind a paywall, was that the Norwegian state, i.e., the taxpayer, will have to pay the enormous legal fees.
I wonder if that is true, what the Norwegian taxpayer will think about it.

Although he's not an exception because that's just how the Norwegian state is, and this was already discussed at the beginning of this thread, I still wonder. With the leaks and Marius's multiple vacations, I really wonder how the average Norwegian feels

On Saturday afternoon, Marius' new car, a gray Tesla Model 3, was parked outside his ex-girlfriend's (Frogner woman) home in an area of western Oslo.
According to informed sources, he was observed with her several times this weekend. After Se og Hør received more information about this, our photographer observed his Tesla parked in a densely populated residential area in Oslo west.

Or alternative excuse: they're role playing. One of his favorite is rape fantasy, the other is somnophilia. The videos was because he's exploring voyeurism. People should not kink-shame him, Europeans suppose to be sexually liberated and be open-minded about it, right?

(I want to believe that her father is a good person and a good father and that's how she convinced him which why he allowed his daughter to meet him again in his presence).

I wouldn't feel comfortable with Marius as a neighbour and especially after him breaking a restraining order.
I would go so far as saying that he appears to care little about the law or anyone else for that matter.
Who on earth is paying for his rent and lifestyle?

Not only that, but doesn't that person think about the impact the image of Marius driving around in a Tesla, not caring about restraining orders and seemingly living a pretty carefree life, has on not only Marius but the NRF?

Sometimes, in dark moments, I wonder if this can get even worse for the NRF?
It can!
Especially if Marius is let off lightly.

It could come back to haunt the Crown Prince and especially the holiday to Portugal this year.
I think they have been very unwise with some of their actions.

They don't even have to "invent" kinky stuff.
The Frogner woman is an adult, she does not feel like she is a victim and she does not acknowledge that she is a victim, that alone should be enough.
The prosecution can present expert after expert saying she display every sign of being the victim of an abusive relationship, if the victim disagree that's it, isn't it?
Any parent who is seeming fine with having his daughter anywhere near Marius can't be much of a dad in my opinion. In fact it makes me wonder if this devoted father and Marius aren't two pieces of the same cloth?
Fortunately I don't have much personal experience of abusive relationships but I imagine that if you have grown up in a household where your father was abusive/manipulative then you may well grow up considering this to be normal?

A little bit...
If Marius get off lightly (no prison or a suspended sentence) I can actually see the CP-Couple throwing a party for him. The thought that I can seriously envision that happening is slightly shocking to me!
I sincerely hope they wouldn't do anything that tone-deaf, but...

Why wouldn't they throw a party for him, if he gets off lightly? They are rewarding him now with an apartment with about 4000 € rent and a new 35000-50000 € Tesla? Or does Marit Tjessem pay them too?

Trond Norén Isaksen writes at his column about the Royal House also about the Marius case:
2026 will be marked by the trial against Marius Borg Høiby, possibly also an appeal. With the exception of the most unrealistic royalists, everyone understands that this will be very negative not only for Høiby, but also for the Royal House – especially the Crown Prince Couple.
The only thing the Royal House can do to offset the negative publicity the trial will entail is to maintain a high profile during the seven weeks, be out among the public as much as possible and thus focus attention on what they are doing. (..)

Hopefully I am not being naive, but I think that Marius is going to face significant consequences for his actions. Re the Frogner woman, there is ample independent evidence against Marius, so even if she does not cooperate or even backtracks, there is still the trashed apartment, the knife in the wall, audio of Marius being verbally abusive, the Frogner woman's injuries, statements that she gave to authorities in the immediate aftermath, statements by other people, and last but not least, the statement that Marius himself issued. Also, IIRC Marius' previous attorney said that Marius pled or will plead guilty to some of the charges, including those involving the Frogner woman, although the charge was a lower charge than intimate partner violence.

A number of people have expressed frustration regarding how long it is taking to get Marius to trial, but I am willing to bet that it has taken this long because law enforcement has gathered a mountain forensic evidence and witness statements. I suspect that a big part of their case is going to be to nail Marius based on his patterns of behavior when it comes to partner violence and the sex crimes.

In a seminar on January 20, participants will receive a review of the legal and press ethics framework in court. There will be practical information about working conditions in the courtroom. The goal is to enable journalists and editors to best understand the press ethics and legal framework for covering a major trial like this.
Organizers are the Norwegian Press Association, The Norwegian Union of Journalists and the Association of Norwegian Editors.
Target group: Journalists and editors who will cover or be responsible for covering the trial of Marius Borg Høiby. The seminar is particularly intended for journalists who do not have much experience with legal and criminal journalism, but will be useful for anyone who will cover the trial.

That is an excellent idea and hopefully one that accomplishes its goal. When journalists are ignorant, they will frequently misinform the public as well.

On a related note, could anyone recommend a good resource for the readers here on TRF to familiarize ourselves with the fundamentals of how criminal trials work in the Norwegian legal system?

Its in Norwegian but I guess AI or Google can help

Acting editor-in-chief at NRK, Sofie Gran Aspunvik confirms, that the Marius' case will also be spoken about at NRK's annual program "The Year with the Royal Family". The program is supposed to reflect the year they are leaving behind, so that means that the events and issues that have characterized the year will be addressed, she says.

The ongoing discussion about Crown Princess Mette-Marit's health has been deleted as off-topic.

Even if you had relatively normal parental figures, it can sometimes take victims months or even years to reconcile themselves with the fact that they've been abused. This can be anything from gaining an insight, to getting new information that sheds light on a former action, to overcoming shock, to overcoming a bout of full on dissociative amnesia. I do imagine it is worse if you have had a difficult upbringing with your father and also if it also involves a partner you care for. I have no idea happened in the case of the Frogner woman. None of us truly do. She certainly does not seem to see herself as a victim right now, but, speaking generally, how people view their partners and their relationships can change with time. Her perspective may evolve.

But, for the purposes of the trial, I think that you are correct that what she is currently saying will carry a great deal of weight. So, it will probably help Marius at least in the charges in direct relation to her and possibly more broadly. I only hope that she does not come to regret this later because of the above.
