Luxembourg Grand Ducal Castles, Palaces, Residences & Burial Sites

I don't think they'll be much in Luxembourg at all. They'll most likely spend most of their time in the south of France - either in Biarritz or their holiday home near Bormes-se-Mimosas. Nonetheless, they will still need a place to stay for when they are in Luxembourg.

It was mentioned in the divorce case of Louis and Tessy that he lived in a Paris property belonging to the family. Do we know which part of Paris this is? Is it a historic residence?

The family owns a building in Paris and each child has their own apartment. I don’t recall Tessy and Louis ever living in Paris, as far as I know, they lived in Florida and London. It would be pretty weird if they did live there and Scarlett would have lived there too when they were still together, but that’s just me.

As far as we know, if any of the kids move or want to buy a house/property, it’s under one of the kids name and Grand Duke Henri, and if they want to sell it, they need his permission. No property (real estate or other assets) is under daughter or son in laws name

Not sure this is the correct place to ask this, but does anyone know where MT and GD Henri will reside/retire too?

From what I did read somewhere here in the Forums, they will move. I mean to remember it was to Fischbach castle. So, Guillaume and his family move out of there and the Grand Duke emeritus (?) Henry moves in. They swap their residences.

They will mainly be based in France. A few years ago MT was already talking about how much she looked forward to her husband retiring in a couple of years and the two of them living in Biarritz most of the time.

Yes, that has been confirmed by the GDC. But I am sure they will spend a lot of time in their apartment in Biarritz which they bought in 2020. See this article by RTL

When Louis founded his mediation agency in 2021 his address was 5 Rue Weber, 16th arrondissement.

The building according to "street view" doesn't look very large, just three apartments I would guess. But it is possible that while Louis is living there permanently, the other two apartments are for the use of family members whenever they are in Paris.

Have Grand Duke Guillaume V and Grand Duchess Stephanie already moved into Berg Castle? Will the residence they were going to build on the grounds of Breg Castle be built? Will Henri and Maria Teresa move into Fischbach Castle?

It was decided that Henri and M. Teresa would move to Fischbach, if they spend much time there at all. I also read that Guillaume and his family are planning an extension to their residence in Colmar Berg. I imagine that everything has been completed by now. They had enough time for it. And although we often have construction delays in Germany due to a shortage of skilled workers, I can't imagine that this would delay a move or an extension in their case.

I'll look for the link but one of the Lux online newspapers said the family would all be moving next year - MT and Henri to Fischbach and Gui & Steph into their new "annex" to Berg Castle.

I assume they wanted to focus on one thing at a time and maybe the move just wasn't possible in the time given.

I also suspect that MT and Henri will actually likely pretty move be moved out of Berg Castle and spend time overseas until they move into Fischbach.

I remember that after the abdication of Grand Duke Jean they switched homes not direct afterwards but about 1 year or so later.

Found it - luxtimes -

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume will officially take over his father’s office on 3 October, but he is not due to move from his residence in Fischbach to the family castle in Colmar-Berg until 2026.

Henri and Maria Teresa will continue to live in Berg Castle for the time being, the Ministry of State has confirmed, and Guillaume, Stéphanie and their two children will stay in Fischbach until next year. It will then be all change.

In fact, the article says Gui & Stephanie's new residence won't be ready until 2027.

The building looks modest but in an "old money" way. And it's in the prestigious 16th arrondissement.

As good as it gets.😉

According to the court ruling of December 4, 2018, Prince Louis was then living in Paris with his sister in a “family property”. He had moved there after he separated from his wife in 2016.

“34. Very sadly, the marriage broke down in the summer of 2016. The husband moved to Paris where he currently resides with his sister in a family property. The husband expressed an intention to the court to move out of this property and into rented accommodation funded by himself as soon as he is able to afford to do so.”

That wasn’t stated in the court judgment. Was there somewhere else where you read it?

What was explained to the court was that the Administration of the Property of HRH the Grand Duke of Luxembourg (ADB) sometimes purchases property outside Luxembourg that is meant for the use of the entire family, but in these situations, the ADB does not purchase or hold the property it in its own name for legal reasons. Instead, a family member acts as an intermediary and owns the property on contract with the ADB. (See paragraph 11 of the judgment.)

Sorry, I haven't been online and just seeing this. I believe it was either posted here or on the more snarkier royal gossip forum (RD). I believe you can find it on the court documents. I just remember this part significantly as it stood out, and the fact that GD Henri gives them a some pocket money for travels (this was funny to me because they all have the very exclusive AE black card!)

And yes, I believe they live in the 16th in Paris!

Thank you for the response. I’m afraid whoever told you that Grand Duke Henri co-owns all his children’s property was misinformed. :flowers: There were only two published court judgments from Prince Louis and Princess Tessy’s English divorce case, and neither of them states that.
