Long time lurker, first time posting

Hi all,
I have been reading posts from time to time for some years now. But decided it is time to contribute to this forum as well.
Living in The Netherlands and I am a massive history buff. I have sometimes jokingly said that I know more about Queen Elizabeth I than I know about Queen Elizabeth II.
Recent royal events catch my attention when the more serious press writes about it. I try to ignore the gossip, royal life is interesting enough without all the fake drama.

Anyway, I am hoping for some interesting discussions from time to time, when work allows it.

I can completely relate to preferring history over gossip — it’s so much more rewarding to look at the bigger picture and long-term context. Queen Elizabeth I is such a fascinating figure; no wonder she draws you in.

Welcome to the forum on your first post and hope we get to see you around in the many threads in here, from current events to historical characters and countries. You never get bored in this place, many times I find links of historical characters I've never heard of and I end up doing more research on the character, and the places and times they lived in.
