Filip of the Belgians and Dutch King Willem-Alexander pictured during the inauguration of the new Terneuzen lock, in Terneuzen, Netherlands, Friday 11 October 2024. This titanic structure is part of a larger lock complex linking the city of Ghent to Zeeland and the North Sea. Similar in size to the locks on the Panama Canal, the new Terneuzen lock will help to cope with the increase in river and sea transport in the North Sea Port region - the merged ports of Vlissingen, Terneuzen and Ghent - while making traffic flow more smoothly by reducing waiting times.

King Philippe gifted King Willem-Alexander a portrait of King Baudouin and Queen Juliana, a fitting tribute since the last two locks built in Terneuzen were inaugurated by them in 1968.
Here's a little video

Nice to see the two of them at an event together. And that was a lovely gift of the Belgian king.

I never thought they were especially close, but the Dutch king calling the Belgian one a ´friend´ shows that they are friendly at the very least.

King Philippe received informer Bart De Wever for a meeting again today, October 17:

What a wonderful gesture by the King Philippe and a really personal moment with the photo of King Baudouin and Queen Juliana from 1968!

Pupils from two Brussels primary schools – the Centre pédagogique Jules Anspach and the Basisschool Leidstar – set off to discover the biodiversity of the Royal Domain of Laeken this morning. Before starting their walk, the King went to meet them. Every year, the Royal Domain welcomes hundreds of pupils from the Brussels Region for walks dedicated to the fauna and flora of this preserved natural setting in the heart of the city.

I saw this on Instagram the other day. It's so awesome initiative by the royal house.
