Today (January 30) marks the 21st Anniversary of Queen Alexandra's death. A requiem was held today at the Oplenac Church in Serbia:

Queen Alexandra made several attempts at suicide.

Yes, it was a pretty awful marriage, beset by financial troubles and made worse by King Peter's despair about his country's plight and his own exile. He and Queen Alexandra were very young when they married and very much in love but it all soon descended into volatily, exacerbated by Peter's heavy drinking. He became an alcoholic.

On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the passing King Peter II, a memorial service was held at the Royal Family Mausoleum of St. George in Oplenac, wreaths were laid at his tomb. On behalf of Crown Prince Alexander, a wreath was laid by Mr. Predrag Markovic, member of the Crown Council.

Today, 52 years have passed since the death of His Majesty King Peter II of Yugoslavia on 3 November 1970.

"My mother, Queen Alexandra , passed away on this day in 1993 in East Sussex, England.

Dear mother, you will always be in my prayers and in my heart.
