Yeah it’s a shame that her husband had to screw his legacy up so drastically. He went from being known for restoring democracy to his country to being known for cheating on his wife with hundreds of women and being corrupt in other ways.

Yes and no. In the eyes of the Spanish public, certainly, but I think JC has viewed himself as the villain ever since the tragedy with his brother. He’s got a lot he’s both compounded at this point and is still seeking redemption for.

I didn't even think about that, what a terrible thing to have to carry around :( My guess is that if Leonor has a son she'll likely name him Alfonso.

I can only imagine how it must feel to know there are people who think you assassinated your brother to get a shot at the throne when in reality it was a tragic accident that you would do anything to take back. I truly don't envy Juan Carlos in that regard.

Didn’t even realize it until now but pun not intended.

But Alfonso was younger, it was Juan Carlos who was the heir!

As for Leonor and her eventual son - We don't know if her grandpa will still be alive then.

Exactly, the eldest was Pilar, but as a women, no throne. Then JC then Margarita, Alfonso the youngest.

Queen Sofia has to endure Barbara Rey whose campaign 'Sleep like a Queen' is all over the streets of Madrid.

Barbara Rey is not even her real name.

It was up to Franco to appoint the heir, he chose Juan Carlos over his father. Juan Carlos may not be alive when Leonor has children but Leonor may still want to honor her ill-fated great-uncle.

I think their relationship is akin to JFK and Jackie’s, JFK also had several mistresses with the most famous being Marilyn Monroe but Jackie stayed with him till the end (which sadly proved to not be long due to JFK’s assassination).

Queen Sofia must be so used to having to put up with her husbands shameful antics and always has a warm smile in public.
Poor Sofia behind the scenes!
