King Harald attended the opening of the fair Nor-Fishing 2010 in Trondheim
today, August 17. Nor-Fishing collects approximately 20,000 participants
and has been an important national and international meeting place for the
fishing industry during the last 50 years.

The King pointed out that although there were fewer fishing boats along the
Norwegian coast, the remains have been far more effective.

"Today is not a question of how much they are able to fish, but how much
they are allowed to fish so that the industry will maintain a sustainable
development for future generations", King Harald said.

Yesterday, August 16, King Harald and Queen Sonja attended His Majesty The King's
Guard performance at Palace Square on August 16, 2010 in Oslo, Norway.

Today, August 24, King Harald has opened the ONS 2010 in Stavanger.
The ONS (Offshore Northern Sea) includes an exhibition, conference
and festival and has been an important international meeting place for
businesses within the oil and energy industry since 1974.

Yesterday, September 1, King Harald made a visit to the Norwegian College
of Veterinary Medicine that celebrated its 75th anniversary. King Harald
attended the matriculation ceremony of new students and conferment of
three honorary doctorates, in addition to a tour to the horse clinic.

I'm not sure this really belongs in Current Events, since it won't happen for another year, so mods feel free to move this. :flowers:

The Palace is planning an 11-day U.S. tour for the royal couple in Nov. 2011. It starts in Minneapolis, and they'll spend much of the time in Minnesota, and also visit New York, but the exact itinerary isn't set yet. Exciting for any other American members in the area. It's about an hour and a half flight for me to Minneapolis, and it's ridiculously cheap with some of the discount airlines - I'm definitely going! :)

Queen Sonja and director of the Kremlin museums Elena Gagarina and Widar
Hala viewed the exhibition "Sacred Treasures" from the Kremlin Museums in
Moscow, in the National Gallery in Oslo on September 23, 2010.

The exhibition displays icons, fabrics and objects that have been used in the
imperial cathedrals. More than one hundred works made in the period from
the 1300s to the late 1800's are shown.

Queen Sonja has attended the national conference "Can we eliminate poverty
in Norway" that was opened in Oslo today, November 9, 2010. The increasing
poverty among children is central theme on the conference program.

King Harald today opened the new Defence Joint Operation Centre outside
Bodø. It's part of the Armed Forces' operational headquarters - the only
NATO headquarters north of the Arctic Circle.

Today, December 6, King Harald has attended the reopening of the Holmenkollbanen,
the rail between Majorstuen and Frognerseteren.

Funnily a woman was among the passengers who was photographed during a similar
situation 37 years ago: In 1973 King Olav had used the line as well on the way to
a skiing trip in the woods and had sat next to her, just as King Harald did today. Of
course it's been planned, but nice nevertheless :)

King Harald attended a match between Norway and Sweden during the 9th
Women's Handball European Championships on December 12, 2010, in Hakons
sports hall of Lillehammer Olympic park. Sweden won by 24-19.
