84% of Danes like the speech.

Some praise all around especially highlighting the youth and volunteers.

Some behind the scenes photos

I watched parts of the video and read the whole speech and actually said "Wow!"

I am deeply impressed! Had I been in Denmark watching from my living room I would given him a standing ovation and a round of applause.

The speech was very cohesive despite the various and different elements. I love the personal touches how he spoke about him and Mary being parents of teenagers and seeing how young people view the world and how a hug and just listening can make a better impact. I liked that he mentioned Joachim and Marie settling in and also Queen Margrethe enjoying her new life.

I also love that he mentioned the importance of nature and the day to day work of the average Dane. The school teacher, the engineer...etc.

It was a beautiful and heart-warming speech and I bet Queen Margrethe is immensely proud!

I loved the speech. I think it was a very cohesive speech given how many things it needed to cover. It did not feel disjointed. The transitions within the speech were smooth and did not cause the listener to lose their place while watching. And the delivery was great. I must admit even reading the transcript I got a little emotional. When a speech that is meant to be given outloud can grab you just by the written version you know that's a good speech.

Love the black and white images. Great photos..very artistic.

A slightly larger version of the photo after the speech - for those who desire to feast their eyes on King Frederik...
Of more interest to others perhaps is that we get a better view of the desk, the flowers and the background.
I notice he has not changed the photos of his children on the wall, they are still toddlers.
The Greenlandic artwork to the right, the flowers. And the IMO slightly confusing wall map.

I think it's a good idea for FX to keep the cue-cards. Cue-cards enables him to do something with his hands - not least considering that he was, and no doubt will be nervous giving these speeches.
It's a bit akin to newsreaders beforehand. They always had a phone on the desk and sometimes when there was a glitch they were called. The reason was not to give informations, the newsreader would get the relevant information anyway, but to keep the poor soul occupied, so he/she wouldn't just sit there for loooong minutes until some technical issue was fixed or it was decided to move on.
This video illustrates the issue of giving a speech on TV very well:

clearly teleprompters are neither appropriate nor euro-friendly! Thank you for sharing the Yes Prime Minister example but wonder whether an English translation of the Speech could also be provided … mange tak and happy New Year!

Information on the vase on Frederik's desk, "The "King's Vase" was created by King Frederik and Queen Mary in collaboration with glass artist Anders Raad."

Numbers wise, viewership was up (as expected imo)

About the desk/table used

"The table is an exquisite piece of craftsmanship, created by carpenter L. Pontoppidan as a wedding gift for Princess Margrethe and Count Henri de Monpezat.
Prince Henrik used this table in his daily work, and now our King has chosen to continue the tradition by using his father’s desk.
Enclosed are pictures from the speech, along with a newspaper article highlighting the table’s remarkable design, while also crediting the architects Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for their outstanding work."

A nice node to his parents in using this table I think.

What a lovely nod to his parents. There was so much symbolism during this speech.
1. The way he entered the room showing that a new era was entering with a new monarch
2. The photos of the kids behind him
3. The vase representing Mary and him and Mary together - including some nods to Australia with the flowers
4. Greenland and Faroe Island visible behind him showing the realms of the Kingdom of Denmark
5. The desk being a wedding gift to his parents and the desk his father used daily

I thought the optics were on point!
