Today, HM The King receives the Chairman of the EU Military Committee, General Sean Clancy
Glad we got a photo - from DRF Instagram

DRF Facebook

He is in DK to discuss common purchase, production and pooling of weapons, ammunition and equipment within EU. That is the practical issues. Funding is something the politicians decide.
As much if not most of Europe is reaming at a feverish pace, it's more practical to cooradinate and order and produce as a bulk, rather than a lot of EU countries competing about the same thing which will result in the prices being driven up and some countries missing vital equipment when they need it, so it's better to share.

Added to the calendar today for today.
HM the King receives members of the government. Frederik VIII's Palace, Amalienborg, at 12:30.

Busy morning and day for Frederik.
More on the government changes

and some nice "dance" moves by the King

More from today, nice start for Sports week

"This year's European Week of Sport marks its 10th anniversary and was held this time in Denmark as part of the Danish EU presidency."

Yes, there was a minor government reshuffle today. Three ministers moved to new ministries.
It is pretty much expected that the PM will announce a general election after the annual state budget has been agreed on over the next couple of months.
The time seems right for a winter-election, both for the PM's party, the Social Democrats, as well as for the largest of the other two coalition parties, the Liberals (which is not left wing, but right leaning.) The third coalition party, the Moderates, is having a meltdown right now. Too many loons in that party IMO. Too bad.

You may recall that I mentioned the socialist Unity List the other day, they may have a fairly good election, if it's called within the next three months.

Whatever, it will be interesting to see if we will continue with the current bi-partisan government coalition. Akin to Labour and the Conservatives forming a government in UK under a Labour PM.

The DRF has posted King Frederik's speech at the opening of European Week of Sport

"Something special happens to us when we move together. Whether we are beginners or trained athletes, sport releases endorphins, lifts our spirits, and brings us closer to one another. We thrive when we are active together. We nourish that deep, human urge to connect, to participate, and to belong.

In preparing for my 50th birthday, I came up with the idea for Royal Run – now one of the largest community runs in the world. Since then, it has taken place every year in five cities across Denmark. Whether the preferred distance is one mile, five or ten kilometers, the idea is simple: everyone should feel welcome to join."

Love his reference to the Royal Run here. It is very fitting and relevant. His one idea years ago has grown to an event that now has more participants than the marathons of Los Angeles, Boston and New York combined!! That is quite an accomplishment. Using sport as a way to bring the community together.

HM the King held a public audience on 6 October 2025 at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. At the audience it is possible to express gratitude for an order or medal as well as for a royal appointment or dismissal.
77 people were in audience.

That is quite a full day of public audiences. Glad to see they post photos of some of the attendees to put focus on why they received their order/medal.

Nice that this time we got pictures of the King!

From one of the attendees

"- He was really nice and smiling – and down to earth."
"- We also talked about the hunting lodge in Trend, because my childhood home is just two kilometers from the lodge, so I told him that I know the area really well. He said that they really like coming there, says the North Jutland native"

Busy day of public audiences for the King. Also nice that we got photos of the King and also some behind the scenes photos of the individuals waiting as well.

And as usual some of the visitors look like vagabonds. Meeting the King personally one to one is a once in a lifetime experience for not that many people, so at least make an effort. Try put on a tie. Or use a comb.
It's not that they are forced at gunpoint to meet King Frederik on the contrary they've accepted their order/decoration which means they are pleased and they went to the audience, because they wanted to, so no excuse for dressing casual IMO.

It's like inviting guests over for a nice three course dinner with an expensive wine and the best china on the table, only to have your guest showing up in jogging outfit. It's lack of respect.

And an interesting piece of info: The audience lasted three minutes. Apparently the allocated time.
so 77 x 3 = 231 minutes. Divided by 60 = 3.85 hours. Plus waiting and getting a short briefing about the next person seeking audience. Let's say one minute. That's additional 77 minutes for a total of 231+77 minutes = 308 minutes. Divided by 60 = 5.13 hours. Uninterrupted that is and in a steady flow without any waiting and no breaks. So I'd say all in all around 6 hours. Fortunately King Frederik like meeting people and is good at remembering people as well.

Thanks for that breakdown Muhler. It shows that these public audiences are literally an all-day undertaking for King Frederik when he does these public audiences. It is good to know the logistics involved. I may just start counting these as individual engagements..lol. ;)

King Frederik received the Ambassadors of Norway, Israel, Belgium, Ivory Coast, Finland, Egypt, Ghana and the United States today, November 5:

It's a delight to see some of the ambassadors showing up in national attire (if they have such a thing of course).
Let's go through some of the ceremonial again. The future ambassadors are received in alphabetical order of the name of their countries. So the US ambassador was the last one.
They become the official new ambassador when they present their credentials to King Frederik. (They get the credentials back, BTW).
King Frederik is in full gala, because the ambassadors are received according to the protocol as if they are the head of state of their countries. Because traditionally the ambassador was the personal representative of the head of state and was supposed to have the ear of the head of state. - Which is why an attack on an ambassador is considered such a big thing.

Always nice to see the tradition of white tie dresscode when recieving new ambassadors being maintained.

These pictures are wonderful. Not only do we get Frederik in uniform but I like how the pictures highlight different details of the event. Wonderful tradition.

Some more photos from the ambassador's welcome. Lovely to get glimpses inside

King Frederik X attended the official opening of the European Quantum Technologies Conference 2025 (EQTC).

To the surprise of too many King Frederik does actually have a keen interest in scientific developments and has had it for many years, but the press rarely write about out. They always tended to focus on him attending sports events. As a result he was, and to an extent still is, perceived as a little shallow and less than intellectual.
