In an unprecedented gesture, the King has sent a message today to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the arrival of the first gypsies to the peninsula, in which he recalls that they are a people of peace, art and culture that “forms part of our being as a nation”. The programme La cresta de la onda on Radio Exterior has broadcast the words of Felipe VI in which he also recognises that, after centuries, “gypsy compatriots continue to suffer rejection, discrimination and negative stereotypes”.

Even the official video calls them Romani, and not “gypsy”. The former is preferred; the latter is an inaccurate and outdated slur these days.

Not in Spanish, they self-identify as "gitanos" (gypsy) and that's the word the King uses in his address. That's why Spanish speaker posters still use the direct translation in English.

He uses both, and whether a direct translation should be solely used when other people in the community prefer something else is an open question.

King Felipe has met with the presidents of several of the countries that the Princess of Asturias will visit in the coming months. On March 5, she will arrive in Uruguay. It is a pity that she will not be able to meet her father, who has already returned to Spain because he has an event in Barcelona tomorrow.

Well, a large part of Leonor doing this is “being away from home”, and as seeing your dad is contrary to that and no one else on board is getting to meet their parents, perhaps it’s just as well Felipe doesn’t disrupt anything.

Also, I’m still not entirely sure when this man sleeps and Casa Real should publish a video with Felipe’s travel hints!
 
I thought Felipe was still persona non grata in Catalonia? Is that only specific towns, or did something change?
