Today H.M. The King is 78 years old.
The King was born at Haga Palace on 30 April 1946.
The King's birthday is a public flag day. The birthday is also official salute day in the Armed Forces, which fires salutes from the country's salute stations at 12.00 today.

We have good news: The grandchildren have a little gift coming and they will be at the Palace to celebrate.
- Yes, there are plans for that, says Margareta Thorgren.

The King will make an entrance to meet the people's tributes and receive flowers from the children.
- That's how it has always been, says Margareta Thorgren.
On the balcony above the western vault, the members of the royal family will show up for the day.
Thorgren tells that there will be a private celebration in the afternoon and evening, but doesn'r reveal more.

On Wednesday, April 30, H.M. The King's birthday is celebrated at the Outer Courtyard of the Royal Palace.
11.15 The Life Guards' Dragoon Music Corps marches in and performs music program
11.40 The Royal Swedish Navy Band marches in.
11.45 The King comes out from the Western Vault to meet the Royal Guards from the Jämtland Ranger Corps, I21. The Royal Swedish Navy Band plays a parade march. Then the King goes to the Royal Guards' wing to the commandant's reception.

12.00 Salute of 21 shots fired from Skeppsholmen.
12.18 The King comes out on the Outer Courtyard
12.20 The Royal Guards from the Life Guard come in with The Army Music Corps
The children will have the opportunity to leave flowers to the King. The public is given the opportunity to pay tribute to the King, who together with other present members of the Royal family appears on the balcony above the western vault of the Palace.
