The King participated yesterday when the Purveyors to the Court from all over Sweden met at the Royal Palace.
Becoming a Purveyor to the Court is an honorary award given to companies as proof that the company's products or services are appreciated by a members of the Royal Family. Purveyors to the Court are appointed by His Majesty The King.
Today, there are 130 court suppliers in Sweden and all were invited to this year's Purveyors to the Court Day, which was arranged in the Bernadotte Library.

The King's speech, he said among other things:
"My ancestor Karl XIV Johan initiated an organized appointment of Purveyors to the Royal Court in the early 19th century. Since then, the Royal House has continued this fine tradition. My grandfather, Gustaf VI Adolf, appointed as many as 1,100 purveyors! Today, the corresponding figure is 130. But I would say that the demands on quality – in both products and service – are higher."
