Still active today, aged 93, Arne Ljunqqvist began his anti-doping career 53 years ago in Sweden. He has fought against doping in sport from leading positions in the major sports organizations: World Athletics, the International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency (which he co-founded in 1999). In 2012, he expanded his work by forming a foundation with the mission to combat the use of doping agents also in society, especially aimed at young people - Professor Arne Ljungqvist's Anti-Doping Foundation.
Professor Arne Ljungqvist:
"I am of course extremely honored and grateful for this monument. Et Purus touches the world of sports as well as our society. It celebrates pure health in all its forms and forms bringing with it a strong message of winning with excellence – by competing fairly and that honor the truth.”
Et Purus - The History
At his 80th birthday in May 2011, Arne Ljungqvist was awarded a sculpture idea created to honor his global crusade against doping. It depicts the classic "No 1" hand gesture, which is used worldwide by all cultures to mark a victory.
The monument was sculpted by artist Sassona Norton. It got the name "Et Purus" in Latin, which means "And pure". Ten years later the first bronze monument was unveiled in Monaco by HSH Prince Albert II – Et Purus No 1.
Now the day has come for Et Purus No 2, in Professor Ljungqvist's hometown of Stockholm.

Easy to accuse a person like Marius as he is vulnarable to that from any lost soul anywhere...
No proof...just a couple of disappointed girls...oh pluueezzee...The hopeless cry baby generation..NEXT!
As above , with due respect , Lucien , Marius has already admitted the first set of charges , including the physical violence he inflicted on the first complainant . His explanation being , that he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol . An addiction that had had him in its grip for almost a decade , and for which he has had treatment . Which he admitted he had not taken seriously , promised to take any more treatment seriously . Not an excuse , and now the police have obviously received credible evidence with which to charge him for other offences . I sincerely hope the victims , and Marius get appropriate help . I also hope IA , and SM are getting good advice .

King Carl Gustaf met the media on the second day of the Folk och Försvar (Society and Defence) Annual National Conference in Sälen.

“Now it’s serious.”
That’s King Carl XVI Gustaf’s assessment of the troubled global situation. He urges Swedes to prepare.
– If you prepare, you will be calmer and safer and you can help family members, friends and acquaintances. I think that people speak much more clearly, in a completely different way than they did a few years ago. Because now it's serious. Then you should inform the public. They are curious and want to know more. The more you know, the calmer and more confident you become in yourself and your surroundings. It's a completely different seriousness than it was before.

The wars in the world are creating general anxiety, says King Carl Gustaf. He believes that the will to defend Sweden is strong.
– If things were to get even worse, we know that there would be many who would stand up and want to join in.

The King: The security situation worse than during the Cold War
– We are building up the defense and the will to defend. It costs money, it takes time and we also need capable officers and men. But I feel that the will is there. There are no discussions about where we want to go. To create security for Sweden.

The threat from Russia needs to be taken seriously, the King thinks. He himself is involved not least in the issue of Gammalsvenskby in Ukraine, where descendants of emigrating Swedes still live. He and queen Silvia have visited the village. The King and Queen are closely following what is happening to those who are still in the village.
– Before the war, we had a lot of contact with the village and tried to help in various ways. Both the Queen and I feel very, very strongly for the inhabitants of the village. Not everyone has died, but many have been forced to flee. They have nothing left. We had contact then. I feel very, very strongly.
Do you talk a lot with the Queen about the unrest?
– Of course. Our commitment is very personal because we have met many people in the village.

The King: We are willing to protect our integrity and freedom

King Carl Gustaf agrees with the Prime Minister who said during the inauguration of the conference that there is no war in Sweden, but neither is there peace.
