The sapphire and pearl earrings and necklace are so beautiful.

Maria Pia's brooch is so stunning. Oh my God, it deserves to be worn by a Royal for many years to come... :(
I agree, the Maria Pia diamond brooch would be a stunning addition to any jewellery collection. Mathilde and Mary, this is not the time to hold back!

I also liked the sapphire bracelet and the emerald brooch.

A few other pieces from the Christie's Paris auction that I thought are really nice. Whilst Mathilde and Mary are the obvious people I think of, some of these pieces could work well for Victoria and Maxima as well.

Antique diamond brooch: BROCHE NOEUD DEUXIÈME TIERS DU XIXÈME SIÈCLE DIAMANTS

Ruby & Diamond demi-parure: PARURE RUBIS ET DIAMANTS

Mellerio sapphire & diamond brooch: MELLERIO BROCHE SAPHIR ET DIAMANTS

Ruby & diamond necklace: COLLIER RUBIS ET DIAMANTS

Emerald, pearl and ruby necklace - Would be lovely for Maxima: COLLIER DRAPERIE MILIEU DU XIXÈME SIÈCLE MULTIGEMMES ET PERLES

Emerald and diamond bracelet: BRACELET ÉMERAUDES ET DIAMANTS

Beautiful pieces all of them, but the Mellerio sapphire & diamond brooch is a must!!!!!

It would make a nice Christmas gift for Leonor!
It would be fantastic for Mathilde or Mary to buy. The central diamond is a pretty serious one, and either of them would wear the hell out of it!

I thought of Leonor with the fluer de lys and the Bourbons!

I think the have two diamonds Fluer de plus brooches, the one used to be worn by Queen Sofia and the central brooch of Queen letiza’s tiara which she has worn regularly as a brooch!

Yes that's correct they correctly have 2 Fleur de Lys brooches ,there was another one belonging to the Duchess of Galliera!

Queen Mary. She could pair it with the suite of Aquamarine jewels she already owns!
I so hope not. I am quite content for this tiara to be bought by a private collector or be in a museum, and not in use by our royal ladies.

Archduke Otto : Archduke Georg wife has no tiara , Archduke Karl ex wife has a bandeau tiara with emeralds
Archduke Robert : His wife née Savoie has two family tiaras and the great emerald necklace. Prince Lorenz
gave his wife Princess Astrid endly a tiara . He is the only one who has jewels
The Other Habsbourg Archdukes 's wifes has no tiaras but wore a family tiara for their Wedding. The 2 daughters of Empress Zita never wore their mother's big tiara it was sold just after Archduke Otto's glory Wedding. One wore a small bandeau which must still be in the family ant the youngest daughter borowed a Bourbon Parme tiara for her Wedding with a Prince of Liechtenstein.

Sad for such a Royal and Imperial House and they will never buy jewels at Auctions

My suggestions
The Belle Epoque tiara for Princess Eleonore
The Diamond brooch and the Emerald and diamond brooch for Queen Mathilde!
Mary could also just as easily find a good use for the Belle Epoque tiara with her 4 children.

Queen Mary could indeed but has a full jewel vault and is being very creative with her discoveries ,the Belgians on the other hand are in better need of new additions are many decades of mismanagement of the royal jewels,.

If only Mathilde and Mary felt as strongly about acquiring jewellery as we do!

I’m a fairly new reader of this particular thread. I was wondering if there are many specific instances of jewels that have appeared in auctions later adorning a royal body? I have gone back several pages of the thread and read about King Charles purchasing for Camilla before their marriage, but are there any other proven records of jewels being returned or purchased for a member of a royal house? ( Apologies if this has been noted previously - but this thread has been going som time.)

As for in recent years: As far as I know, there has been only one incidence of a tiara being purchased from an auction house: Princess (now Queen) Mary's Edwardian ruby and spinel necklace tiara. And that one was purchased from a small Danish auction house, so the sale might well have flown under the radar. Also, the tiara came at a comparatively affordable price, and I don't think that the royal houses would want to have hefty price tags of their purchases freely available on the internet.

Queen Mary’s recent purchase which includes the necklace/tiara with a matching earring and another couple of diamond earrings were already listed in the auction catalog, also the pink topaz earrings and matching ring, the sapphire brooch purchased by Mathilde were already listed by Sotheby’s.
If I remember correctly the tuti fruity parure worn by maxima was also listed on a auction catalog before being purchased for her.
