In relation to their state visit to Sweden, Mary was honored as a A Knight of the Order of the Seraphim.

"Last week, the Queen of Denmark's Seraphim shield was published. 🇩🇰 Queen Mary was appointed a Knight of the Order of the Seraphim in connection with last year's state visit from Denmark. A Knight of the Order of the Seraphim always receives a shield painted upon his appointment. During the life of the Seraphim Knight, the shield hangs in the Royal Palace.
🛡️ Queen Mary's shield is two-part and shows the Royal Coat of Arms of Denmark and the Queen's personal coat of arms. The coat of arms is crowned with a Danish royal crown and surrounded by the blue ribbon of the Order of the Seraphim. The shield is painted by Royal Coat of Arms Painter Leif Ericsson."

In the forth picture you can spot Frederik's shield, received as Crown Prince.

Looks like it will be an interesting and jampacked 3 days for the King's visit to Japan. It is clear that his participation is meant to be that soft diplomacy that opens doors and makes meetings happen. He's had years of experience in these types of trips when he was the Crown Prince and heir. Looking forward to following the events on this trip.

Indeed, busy 3 days and it's Danish promotion all the way. Now that hike at 7am wow! My day is just starting figuring out the coffee lol. But it's not the first time, I remember he has done runs with veterans in Washington DC. And in San Francisco with the Danish Bridge program.
Looking forward to it.

King Frederik doing sporty things and statesman things. Lol. And, yes...huge Danish promotion during the 3 days. Very important, especially now.

Together with a reminder for the start of the upcoming visit to Japan the Palace shared a few photos of previous visits:

Great photos and video of the first day of the trip to Japan. Great welcome! And first day of a very busy/packed schedule. Looking forward to the remaining 2 days of the trip!! And what a difference from his first trip to Japan (his first solo foreign trip as a very young Crown Prince) to decades later as King. Just wonderful! He truly learned on the job and prepared for years to the role he knew he would have to fulfill.

Yes. I have enjoyed some of the pictures from 1987, such growth but that comes naturally with taking on the role bit by bit from the start.

King Frederik's speech at the opening ceremony for the Denmark Day at the Expo 2025:

Love this article - quite a lot of security around King Frederik it seems! And wow about the briefcases!

Excerpt:
"In the midst of the international attention, King Frederik became a natural magnet for both the press and the public.

The security measures were clearly turned up, and according to BILLED-BLADET's reporter, the king's bodyguards were equipped with something as James Bond-like as bulletproof briefcases. The discreet "ballistic briefcases" can unfold and act as protective shields in case of danger".

This visit is considered very important because DK and Japan has a long history of close diplomatic ties and Japan is considered an ally of DK in East Asia. DK is traditionally very fast to establish diplomatic connections whenever a country becomes a nation. That happened when Japan was forcefully opened and it happened already during the American Revolution in regards to what became USA. And it is still the case today. We are a small trading nation, so it's important to be out there before the competitors.
We also have a considerable export to Japan, not least high quality agricultural and dairy products which the Japanese consumers are willing to pay extra for.
But this is not just about trade, it is also about strengthening the political links between Japan and DK. It absolutely helps that King Frederik and Emperor Naruhito are on very friendly terms. Which may explain why he is supposed to meet the Emperor, which is not a given thing for foreign visitors.

Both Japan and DK are most interested in cultivating alternative markets as a result of the economic policy of the Trump administration and one way of doing that is to visit/host well-known and old trading partners.
Greenland is also interested in Japan as a place to export fish. Fish as you know is a very popular dish in Japan. Greenland has gained some access to the Japanese market, but I can't say how much. Anyway, given the size of the Japanese market, Greenland will hardly be able to export more than what can be considered a niche in Japan.

Thank you @Muhler for the deeper understanding of the importance of this visit. One thing the DK has done, imo - especially via Frederik and Mary during their time as the Crown Prince Couple - was to develop close and friendly ties with many countries. The soft diplomacy and statesman/woman experience and expertise of both King Frederik and Queen Mary has given DK a foot in the door of many places that would not have happened without their ability to go on those charm offensives around the world. For example, when they had their official visit to Japan years ago, I recall thinking how it seemed a level higher than just a normal official visit. The same thing for other official visits they did. They've put in the work and now reap the rewards that soft power/diplomacy. They are truly statesman/woman.

Here are some more photos of the final day today:

Very nice photos from the third. Busy.
Last event on the agenda was a meeting/dinner with the emperor.

Photos released on the Instagram of the Imperial Family of Japan:

According to reports, Princess Aiko was also at the dinner with the Emperor and King Frederik
It's seen as a sign of the closeness between the DRF and the Imperial Family.
I understand the Dutch royals are also close with the current Japanese Emperor.

They are. Masako’s parents lived in the Netherlands for a long time. One of the few (or only?) holidays outside of Japan by the then crown prince and his family was to the Netherlands where they stayed at Het Oude Loo, property of the Dutch royal family.

During his trip to Japan he also meet with companies from Greenland
"- It was an honor to meet the King and experience how he wanted to hear about Royal Greenland and Greenland out of his own interest. We could clearly feel his love for the country and his respect for the fishery"

"The timely visit by His Majesty coincides with Japan reaching final steps before its fourth offshore wind tender round. Thereby bringing the Japanese government even closer to realize its target of 10 GW auctioned off by 2030."
