I wonder if His Royal Highness will retain his IOC membership after abdicating or give up that as well?

More photos:

Although heavily filtered the photos are stunning.

My only 2 complaints are:
1. In many of the photos the Grand Duchess' heavily tanned face is in such striking contracts to her pale arms and hands.

2. It would have been nice for there to be a photo of her children and grand children.

I don’t see a good reason to give it up. He is clearly still able to fulfill the role. It’s just that his wife is no longer interested in him being the head of state and the expectations that come with it - but I guess he still enjoys to hang out with the IOC crowd once abdicated.

That is possible. Grand Duke Jean relinquished his IOC membership in connection with Henri assuming the regency. But I have no idea if Guillaume has any interest in sports.

Personally I can't see MT allowing Henri to give up the perk of being able to turn up at any future Olympic games with front row seats!
Plus, Henri seems to enjoy it and Guillaume doesn't seem that fussed on sport so its a win win.

Grand Duchess Maria has given an interview to the Luxembourgian version of the ELLE magazine. The edition is out this week:

According to the summary offered above:

The encounters offered in this issue put us on the right track: that of affirmation through reconnection with ourselves. Like Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, who shares with us frankly her joys and sorrows, but above all the meaning she gave to her life. That of giving, love, and transmission. The message of this free woman is clear: "Dare to claim who you are." A rare and intimate testimony that sheds light on a resilient, humanistic, and warm personality who has only been touched upon until now.

Maria Teresa sent a reminder that the Hola issue featuring her interview is out today:

I read the Hola! article. and it looks quite positive. The Grand Duchess spoke about her relationship with the Spanish Royal Family: "I love the Spanish Royal Family very much: Queen Sofia and King Juan Carlos welcomed me with open, kind, and loving arms right after my wedding, and our friendship with Felipe and Letizia has endured".

i enjoyed reading the HOLA magazine interview: in it she mentions they will be retiring to fischbach palace in october. she did her own make up for the photos. she mentions how her knees hurt these days, and the author speculates it is because of 15 years of ballet classes. she mentions periods of sadness/depression (the author mentions her bookcase with many books from david servan schreiber).

she recalls childhood summers spent in anero (spain), and a close relationship with the spanish RF. she mentions her struggles with louis' dislexia. she says she will continue being involved with her foundations after the abdication.

she speaks about going back to cuba with her sister and 2 of her kids, and the impact it had on her to reunite with her roots.

72 threads about this on Noblesse et Royautés , a lot are not positive !
Those comments were mixed indeed but about her posing for the cover of Elle Luxembourg.

The Grand Duchess has become a great fan of -heavily edited- photo shoots in recent years, few other royals will have so many.

But if she continues with this these I would love a double feature of her and her daughter-in-law the next Grand Duchess.

Marengo , the future Grand Duchess , born Comtesse de Lannoy , will never pose for the cover of ELLE Luxembourg . She had a warm and private Childhood but lost her Mother before her Wedding. They waited years to have Chidren and now two lovely young boys
She will be like Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte, a Royal Consort staying with her husband without having her Appartment in Paris or Biarritz.
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa spend in 2023 , 130.000 euros for her dresses and etc..

Yes I think it is clear Stephanie will have different priorities and ways of doing things from MT and I certainly see far fewer /if any magazine shoots in the future.
