The Belgian scroll really suits Stephanie. IIRC those earrings are from her family? Always love those, lovely touch that she also brings something from her own family in this historical occasion. And they look so well with the tiara. I can see her repeating that combination in future.
 
Can't lie bit gutted she brought out the Belgian scroll given how it had become the defacto tiara worn by MT for so long, time for a change!
The Empire would have looked amazing but is tricky to pull off (but if ever there is a day to "go big or go home" it is today). The Grand Duchess Adelaide tiara would have looked good on her today IMO.

M-T wore the Adelaide.
 
Indeed she did, with a green dress and emerald jewels bizarrely. MT would have been better in her "usual" Belgian scroll and Stephanie in the Adelaide IMO.
 
Well the Belgian scroll was kind of reserved for the Grand Duchess only during M-T's time and even J-C has only lent it once to Sibilla...also Stephanie has "worn" it in her recent portrait so I expect it's still "GDss only" and Stephanie would go for either the Empire or the Belgian but not any other pieces.

Yes, I agree. But I think the Belgian scroll is considered to be the wearable "big gun" since the Empire is just too much.

It's also a nod to GDss Stéphanie's native country and displays continuity within the dynasty, having been worn by three consecutive Grand Duchesses (plus Princess Sibilla).
Havif said that, I do wish well see HRH with the empire tiara at some point. A State Visit to either Belgium or the Netherlands would be a fitting opportunity.

It’s not that it’s reserved for the grand duchess use only but it’s actually a private property and not part of the family collection, it was going to be sold at auction after the late Josephine charlotte passed away but after the cancellation it was solely worn by Maria Therese so it’s more likely to be the personal property of grand duke Henri
