It was nice to see King Juan Carlos and the Infanta Elena out and about in Cambados

Infanta Elena is not a member of the Royal Family, and therefore she is not going to fulfill her mother's official agenda. Queen Sofia has a very limited number of official activities. Much of her activities now are not institutional but they are related to her Foundation, and they will postpone them. Now with Queen Sofia currently out of action ,the SRF now only have 2 working Royals -The King and Queen and they are both in the Netherlands next week.
I wonder if Infanta Elena might start to perform some of her mothers duties while Queen Sofia recuperates?
The Infanta has carried out a number of official duties since 2014 despite her downgrade.Infanta Elena is not a member of the Royal Family, and therefore she is not going to fulfill her mother's official agenda. She has one or two events a year that are related to things she has been involved with for many years, such as the Paralympic Committee or the awards ceremony for the National Heritage Children's Painting Competition... the same thing happened with her aunts. But that does not mean that she returns to more relevant events on the official agenda. The Infanta has carried out a number of official duties since 2014 despite her downgrade.
It maybe a political decision ,there was also an annual memorial Mass to the Monarchs of Navarre which has also gone by the wayside
The day of the Red Cross is another one.
All the more reason not to get involved - including not starting a rival award scheme. At some point they might start being invited again if the political constellation changes.
