King Harald has sent a message of condolence to US President Donald J. Trump, following the plane crash in Washington D.C.:

King Harald has sent a message of condolence to King Carl Gustaf following yesterday's shooting in Örebro, Sweden:

Your Majesty,We have followed the dramatic events of the past 24 hours in Örebro with sadness and dismay. My family and I pray for comfort and strength for all relatives and those affected. King Harald V invited nearly 150 guests to a party at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
The King and Queen appeared in one of the palace windows.

Photos of the arrival of guests at King Harald's birthday party. In the photos we can see Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Princess Mette-Marit.

Tonight a ❤️ of torches lights up Slottsplassen. A gift to King Harald from his Court, on the King's 88th birthday.

Maybe they for once could supprise and release a group photo, I cant ever think of a non round birthday of the King where the palace has confirmed the party days in advance and even posted photos from inside. Usually he goes away when he has his birthday or accepts som best wishes if he is at a ski competition which often collides with his birthday.

Apparantly the gift from the guests is a mini concert with one of his favorite singers Sissel Kyrkjebø

Nice to see the King and Queen watching from the Palace window.

The Palace released a statement today, that King Harald has a cold and won't attend the start of the Ski World Championships in Trondheim:

The King is sick with a cold

His Majesty the King is sick with a cold, and is therefore postponing his attendance at the Ski World Championships in Trondheim.

"The King is going on another private trip abroad.
King Harald (88) will travel abroad later in March, the royal house's communications director Guri Varpe confirmed to Nettavisen.

– His Majesty the King is on a private trip abroad, and the Crown Prince is regent during the period, informs Varpe.

Crown Prince Haakon (51) will be regent from March 16 to April 5, and will take over all of the king's duties while he is on tour."

Are they going back to Malaysia for a long sun break?

I think they wont take the same risk again. We remember what happened last March to King Harald:

LANGKAWI, Malaysia/OSLO (Reuters) -Norway’s King Harald was discharged from a Malaysian hospital on Sunday and was flying home on a medical evacuation plane after receiving treatment for an infection and receiving a temporary pacemaker.

IIRC they made a statement that they would not travel that far away again.

I have never seen such a statement… King Harald is known to value his freedom to travel and i remember his doctor telling the media during last years health scare when he was questioned why he allowed the king to travel that far away, that noone can force a man who is checked and deemed healthy to stay at home just because he is old…

I may have made a mistake and this statement did not come from the royal family but from doctors or someone else.

King Harald and Queen Sonja have been photographed at the airport Oslo-Gardermoen on Sunday and are said to have flown to Spain to spend the coming three weeks there:

"The Queen admitted to the National Hospital

Her Majesty the Queen was admitted to the National Hospital this evening for examinations due to shortness of breath.

The Queen was transported by air ambulance from the Prince's Cabin in Sikkilsdalen, where the Royal Couple spent the Easter holiday."

It does sounds worrying… It was not that long since she was fitted with a pacemaker…. She has been the personification of good health through her entire life until now…

Wonder if all the stress and worry over her husbands various illnesses and over the behaviour of some of the other family members is catching up with her 🙁

Wishing Queen Sonia the very best and she has always been so robust health wise!

VG has apologised to the palace after they reported by accident that Queen Sonja had died.

This is a very unfortunate mistake, and we are terribly sorry for the incident. We have apologized directly to the Palace and we apologize to our viewers, says news editor Tora Bakke Håndlykken.

The message was visible on the screen as a subtitle in connection with a television broadcast in another news story. The broadcast was shown on Tuesday, April 22 at 1 p.m.

I already knew she had been discharged, but it shocked me.

It reminds me of when they published (perhaps through another outlet) the death of King Harald, except I never knew if it was an accident or malicious intent.

I suppose it was an ”in-case-of-rehearsal” that went wrong when someone accidentially published it instead of deleting it…

BBC did the same a few times with QEII and Philip

Crown Prince Haakon gave an update to NRK this evening during his visit to Poland regarding the health of his mother.

He says that several tests have been carried out but nothing serious have been found and he is very happy for that.

She is discharged but will need some time away to get back on her feets.

He stresses that she is feeling a little bit better but that he does not like at all that she is ill.

The reporter asks if there is reason to worry for The Queen’s health, to wich he replies that there is always reason to worry when someone has to travel by ambulance-helicopter to the hospital, but that he is happy with the care she is recieving.
