General News for the Wales Family 4: August 2025 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I just saw the clip with Orla on the Wales' social media. She s absolutely adorable.
My family had two (English) Cocker Spaniels, so I am very delighted to see this beautiful girl.

This was a very interesting conversation between William and Canadian actor Eugene Levy. Even though the article said questions weren’t scripted, I find that a bit hard to believe. William was quite candid and open during this visit.
The entire show is from The Reluctant Traveler streaming on Apple TV.

Please move if this is in an inappropriate place

There are some posts on page 1. :)

I dont think the interview is scripted, I don't think that's usual these days. However, I do think they sent in some questions in advance, which is mostly standard practice for any interview. I am so curious how they picked this particular show for this particular message from William. It makes sense that they wouldn't work with a Netflix-produced show, especially when there are other options.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have won a legal battle with a French magazine over an article and pictures published of a family holiday in the Alps in April. A French court has found that the publication infringed the family’s privacy.

KP's statement:

“Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales, have been successful in legal proceedings brought in France against the owner of Paris Match, which published a grossly intrusive article and long-lens paparazzi photographs of their private family holiday in the Alps in April.

The ruling affirms that, notwithstanding their public duties as members of the Royal Family, Their Royal Highnesses and their children are entitled to respect for their private lives and family time, without unlawful interference and intrusion.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are committed to protecting their private family time and ensuring that their children can grow up without undue scrutiny and interference. They will not hesitate to take such action as is necessary to enforce those boundaries."

I can't remember reading any report that they sue anyone.

William told the producer of the show that his family was looking forward to watching The Celebrity Traitors (when he handed him his OBE).

Prince William's full interview with Luciano Huck on Brazilian television.

Some coverage:

Archive - We told children everything about Kate’s cancer, says William

Excerpt:

Appearing on Brazil's Domingão com Huck on Sunday (09.11.25), he said: “Every family goes through difficult times and faces challenges together. How you deal with those moments makes all the difference.

“We decided to tell our children everything, both the good news and the bad. We explain to them why certain things happen and why they might feel upset.

"Children understand far more than we sometimes give them credit for.

"Sometimes they ask tough questions, and we don't always have the answers. But we have decided to talk about everything openly. That honesty keeps us united.

“Many questions might come up without answers – I think all parents go through that. There’s no rulebook for being a parent, and we chose to talk about everything...”

Actor Humphrey Ker shares recollections about attending Ludgrove and Eton with Prince William.
Note-The interview originally appeared in The Telegraph, but I don't have an archieved link.

Thanks for sharing.
This is an interesting interview that basically confirms how different the two brothers are. How fortunate that William is the eldest, who takes his role as future king seriously. Harry would certainly have been overextended.

I'm increasingly convinced that his life in California is exactly right for him.

Hi. I found the archieved interview with Humphrey Ker if anyone is interested.

It’s debatable how much Ker really knew William as the ‘sharing a dorm thing’ is emphasised quite a lot. And at both Ludgrove and Eton (which Harry entered just after his mother’s premature death) he wouldn’t have known Harry at all due to the age gap.

It is also notable that Ker feels sorry for royals, including Charles and William. The phrase ‘gilded cage’ is used by Ker in the same way it was in ‘Spare’.

‘Again, I just feel so sorry for them. It’s that gilded cage thing. It just looks miserable. I think what Charles would really have been happy doing is running some eco business out of his house in Gloucestershire, just quietly getting on having a nice time with Camilla and the dog.”

The interview also mentions that Ker had not seen or spoken to William for many years prior to them recently bumping into each other at Wrexham football club. So he can say 'it just looks miserable', but what is he basing that claim on? He knew William for a time at school, but he is not a close friend now, or a BRF insider, so in the words of the Big Lebowski, 'that's just, like, your opinion, man' :)

I'm quite sure many members of the BRF would be perfectly be happy living an upper class lifestyle in the country with dogs and horses, but perhaps they have found a way to make peace with the gilded cage thing, and are all perfectly happy with their current lives.

IMO William has found a way by keeping family life separate to work life, he draws a line.
We see the children as and when appropriate but in return he expects privacy around holidays etc. I appreciate there are posters on here believe he should be more transparent around holidays but do we really want to return to the days of William and Harry’s childhood of banks of photographers and long lens on the beach.
There needs to be a balance.

The Princess of Wales shared a video with a reflection on Autumn.
MOTHER NATURE: AUTUMN

Autumn - a season of reflection, growth and deeper connection. Embrace the beauty found in change, as we prepare for winter’s rest. C

I like Catherine’s videos (I always do), but you can see she clearly filmed some of it back in September (when it wasn’t yet fall and she wore the “sober autumn outfit”).

Autumn is September, October and November here, for meteorological purposes :) . But it might have made more sense to release the video in September!

I may well be shot down in flames for this, but I find the video, although including some beautiful autumnal images of the natural world, rather romanticised and twee. I just don’t think most people in the UK will identify with this.. I find it a little self indulgent, which is not a sentiment I would usually associate with the Princess.

Perhaps the Princess’s experiences of the last couple of years have encouraged her to indulge some of the dreams that are all her own- even the romanticized and twee ones- many middle-aged women want something that doesn’t just cater to the wants and needs of others. As long as she doesn’t record a country and western album or join the Real Housewives of Windsor, I’m inclined to cut her some slack.

I like that Catherine is doing something she obviously wants to and gets enjoyment from. My slight quibble is that she has time to do this but not to make a visit to a charity on its 20th anniversary of its building (not saying she was asked to and refused at all). I suppose for me, I think the video and the series of videos are great as an addition.

The timing does seem slightly odd to me as we are approaching the end of what most people would call Autumn in the UK (but I can't remember whether the other videos were released at start of end of their respective seasons), but I think W&C and their staff do tend to plan all things public to ensure everything gets coverage of its own (just as we know the RF as a whole do this).

The video series seems to be very well received on social media. People who didn't like the previous videos, don't seem to like this one, but that's life. I think Catherine's cancer diagnosis and treatment has had a profound impact on her, and she uses these videos to express some of her feelings about how much the natural environment has help her through it.

I think these are two different things. IMO it's much more flexible to make a video or write a letter, than to have a live engagement. For example, if she's not feeling well and she doesn't turn up to something that will just be released later as a video, the public probably won't find out and I assume this would avoid discussions on why she is absent. She then can turn up and do the video on a different day, so we still get to see her doing something. At least I have the impression that this is a way for her to be seen, like when she met the Scouts a few months ago, while still having a reduced agenda.

One person’s “romanticized, twee, and self indulgent” is another’s soothing (and in Catherine’s case, “healing”).

I really don’t see how releasing less than ten minutes of video over the course of an entire year (and that is meant to give a bit of hope, comfort, and relaxation to others) is “indulgent” at all — otherwise the normally private and self-effacing Catherine doesn’t tend to reach or speak out like this.

It’s not like she’s asking people to purchase anything associated with it. As I said with the last one, it’s art. It may not be to everyone’s taste, but she can make some if she wants.

Well said, I totally agree. Personally, I thought it was yet another lovely video from her, and like many overseas viewers (read the comments on social media!), I enjoy listening to her speak. We're heading into hot, humid, stormy weather here which I dislike, so I love to see the progression of the northern hemisphere's Autumn and Winter!

Exactly. It's just a series of short videos with her voicing her thoughts. People have the choice to view the videos or pass them by.

Prince William at the Walnut Tree Inn in Mere yesterday!

“It was our great pleasure to host HRH Prince of Wales for lunch at the Walnut Tree Inn yesterday, a big shout out to Lisa, Grace and the kitchen team for looking after him so well.”

One commenter said that Prince William visited the Duchy of Cornwall farmers in Mere.
