Yes hereditarytitles, wonderful here.

We walked from Pavlos and Marie-Chantal's house in Cheyne Walk along to Kate and Pippa's flat and then onto Diana's flat.

I was surprised how close these places are to each other, especially the first two.

Interesting to see where these famous people live/have live.

I hope you also get to see some of the countryside places royal, noble and rich people have lived or are still living. Years ago I was so obsessed with visiting many of those great old country residences. We mainly went to Dorset and Devon, just beautiful, not only the houses but also the countryside. Great Britian is really very special when it comes to the preservation of those old buildings.
I never made it to London yet, but travelled several times to other parts of England.

Wonder why those blue plaques aren't on the buildings?
I can see why they wouldn't be placed where famous people are currently living, but why not on places such as Diana's flat?

It has to be of historical significance and those places are not. I certainly don't want to see blue plagues because members of the married in royal family lived there.

I remember seeing a big sign in front of Diana's flat, it was in one of the pictures Sun Lion posted in another thread which is about Kensington Palace IIRC

Edward Pettifer, the stepson of Tiggy Pettifer, nee Legge-Bourke, William and Harry's former nanny, has been named as one of the victims of the terrorist attack in New Orleans.

"He was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew and a friend to so many," the family said in a statement.

"We will all miss him terribly. Our thoughts are with the other families who have lost their family members due to this terrible attack. We request that we can grieve the loss of Ed as a family in private."

That photo is from Christmas day?
It really is a wonderful photo of Catherine!
Yes, it is, taken on December 25, 2024 :flowers:

And the Prince of Wales sent a wonderful message:

The new photo was taken by Matt Porteous at Windsor last summer.

Every birthday is special, but I can't imagine how much more special a birthday feels after going through a life-threatening ordeal and coming out on the other side. I hope Catherine has a wonderful day and an year much better than the last one.

The Times is reporting that the Prince and Princess of Wales will begin awarding royal warrants later this year. It will be the first time since the then Princess (later Queen) Mary that warrants have been issued for a Princess of Wales.

Worth remembering:
Camilla and Diana both married Charles after he was already Prince of Wales and had begun granting Royal Warrants
Elizabeth II was never Princess of Wales
George VI was never Prince of Wales
Edward VIII wasn't married while Prince of Wales

So Queen Mary being the last Princess of Wales to grant Royal Warrants makes sense.

I can't see Catherine granting lots, especially as Camilla hasn't granted all that many - she has granted 14 in total so far.

Doesn't explain why Diana didn't.

Well William and Catherine have actually been married longer than the time Charles and Diana were together before their separation. That could play a part. Or Charles didn't want to share the spotlight with his wife. I do think its a bit different Diana marrying Charles who had already been granting Royal Warrants (presumably) vs William becoming Prince of Wales while long married to Catherine. It feels more natural the conversation about whether to include her a grantor of Royal Warrants would come about IMO.

I agree the period of time they have been married, also Catherine appears to have grown into her role.

It's probably just to do with people available. Back in the day there was HM, PP, QM and PC. It's just to promote British companies.

Apparently, Charles only started granting Royal Warrants (by permission of the queen - so it was not his decision) in 1980, so I don't think that was the issue per se; nonetheless, the queen seemed to have had the opinion that members of the royal family first needed to show that they were worthy of certain privileges and honors and that they didn't just come with their position.
