The Prince of Wales today sent a message to rugby coach Kevin Sinfield who undertakes a physical challenge to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charities:
Who knows who is responsible for nominating the "person of the year" at this magazine? Arent' there other international known magazines who nominate people? I guess so. The editors have a meeting to decide who will be on their cover of their next publication and they are discussing it and made that decision. Some of them might have made different suggestions, but as it is (at least I hope so) decided democratically those who were in the majority made the decision. What reason has been given? I truly don't understand her nomination. Unfortunately, she had a really hard year due to her cancer diagnosis and treatment (as undoubtedly many others worldwide) but I fail to see how that could make someone a contender for person of the year.
It was in connection with the right for privacy for public figures around health matters. Her experience with social media that the press then felt they had to report on led to a media storm. It opened the conversation when are public figures entitled to privacy. It is for others to decide if it warranted a nomination I do not have an opinion one way or another. What reason has been given? For TIME, it’s simply about being the most notable person of the year. (‘Who has made the most news?’) Doesn’t matter who you are or what you do. And Catherine had a lot of people talking this year, including all the pre-cancer idiocy. What reason has been given? I truly don't understand her nomination. Unfortunately, she had a really hard year due to her cancer diagnosis and treatment (as undoubtedly many others worldwide) but I fail to see how that could make someone a contender for person of the year.
The one time I saw a Christmas themed photo card, it was the former King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia's very poorly edited photo card with their grandchildren in the mid-2000's. As far as I know, they've not done a Christmas photo card again. However they typically choose to release one that is about the Nativity. Are people going to write this every year.... "I wish they released a card with christmas theme". Royals have NEVER done that.
I think it’s more a different picture from what has already been released to the public. It’s a nice picture but I personally will remember this from their video and not as a Christmas card picture. Are people going to write this every year.... "I wish they released a card with christmas theme". Royals have NEVER done that.
That's not true, there might be different traditions for each family but there are most certainly royals who prefer christmas themed cards. Two give only two examples:Are people going to write this every year.... "I wish they released a card with christmas theme". Royals have NEVER done that.
But it is the British forum that this is being discussed, The British royals usually issue a family photograph .That's not true, there might be different traditions for each family but there are most certainly royals who prefer christmas themed cards. Two give only two examples:
- the Monegask family releases a christmas themed card each year! See for example this year's photo.
- the pictures of the Luxembourg's heriditary grand ducal family are also clearly christmas-themed.
The claim was that 'royals' don't do that. There are many other royals than the British royals. It's not 'unroyal' to release a christmas-themed photo. But it is the British forum that this is being discussed, The British royals usually issue a family photograph .
As I said the thread was discussing the British royals , in particular the POW family Xmas card and that the card did not have a Xmas feel to it.The claim was that 'royals' don't do that. There are many other royals than the British royals. It's not 'unroyal' to release a christmas-themed photo.

Jesam, I make no apologies for saying something others have said previously. There’s absolutely no reason why The Prince of Wales’ family shouldn’t choose to take a different path, just because traditionally British royals haven’t chosen to do this. As the Monagasque family have shown, you can embrace a family theme and make it festive.
