General News for Charles III and Queen Camilla Part 2, February 2024-

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Charles has always tended to go to Birkhall (on the wider Balmoral estate) this time of year, he use to go up with Camilla straight after Christmas - usually after the Boxing Day shoot at Sandringham until February, now Charles stays at Sandringham a bit longer as he is host. They seemed to head up after the worst of the snow this year - though as we saw from Church visit last Sunday there was still a lot about.

It's due to be about 7 degrees C /45 degrees F in the Balmoral area tomorrow. It's not the North Pole :) .

It could be that the main building is not well insulated, so in that case, it would not be a great place to stay during winter. However, as Charles regularly has gone up to Birkhall in winter over the years, I am sure he ensured that it was properly insulated.

The Queen Mother extended Birkhall in the 50s and a smaller extension again in the 80s and then again later so a lot of Birkhall is much newer than Balmoral. I imagine Charles also did work when he took it over.

I suspect there is nothing stopping them using Balmoral in winter but tradition means it is used in Summer and probably in part for practical reasons - the heating would need to be cranked up high in winter to heat such a large castle.

It is good to see The King visit a church that is not one of the usual suspects. I know that there are security and other logistical concerns, but I hope to see him and other royals do similar.

It sort of is one of the usual suspects. The late Queen always visited this church as well, it is part of the Sandringham Group of Churches. Services are shared between all the churches so the late Queen (and now Charles to a lesser extent) will visit many of churches in the group as they alternate services.

This Sunday was the turn of Flitcham's St Mary's the Virgin Church to host the Mattins service so Charles went there (as presumably nothing would be on at Sandringham's St Mary Magdalene Church.

The King is to feature in a documentary for Amazon Prime, focusing on environmental issues. Interesting move away from the BBC and ITV.

Amazon is the main competitor to Netflix, where Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are featured. Interesting!

Was this step by the King inspired by his runaway son and his wife? Or is it a sign of the times, that if you want to reach a big audiance you have to go to the streaming networks?

Anyway... I will watch it! It is not a cooking show and King Charles ideas were always interesting! I remember, I was still young then, when he came to Berlin/Germany to visit the quarters in the east of the city, the former communist part - It was the best the communists could do, but it was not more then social housing, the infamous "projects" in America.

Then Prince Charles' idea: Turn them from concrete grey to bold colorful. Good man!

BTW He was all about organic food, before green became a political color. He is a bit excentric, but in an interesting way! Go, Your Majesty!

I would say ahead of his time.

Assuming that it'll be available on Amazon Prime worldwide, I would assume a sign of the times. The BBC website won't usually let you watch if you're outside the British Isles.

Yesterday, February 2, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended Sunday Church Service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham:

A very poignant message to mark World Cancer Day!
In the past year both the King and Princess of Wales had their own battles with cancer.
