The King will be on a private trip to Nairobi between March 1 and 8. Since it is a private trip, the court does not want to say what is on the agenda.
– It is a private trip that we do not comment on, says the Director of the Information Department Margareta Thorgren.
“During this trip, he is prevented from fulfilling his duties as head of state,” writes the Marshal of the Real Fredrik Wersäll in a document to the Ministry of Justice.
Crown Princess Victoria acts as temporary regent during the King's trip.

Trousers and a jacket are the norm for the Crown Princess both in everyday life and at work.
Victoria prefers to wear trousers in pastel or strong, signal colors.
Princesses Madeleine and Sofia have also embraced the spring trend.

Daniel, Estelle and Chris were this evening at the HockeyAllsvenskan's hockey match AIK-Djurgården Hockey at Hovet Arena. Daniel's friend Patrik Vrbanc was also with them. Chris seems to be an AIK fan, just like Daniel and Estelle.
HockeyAllsvenskan is the second-highest league in the Swedish ice hockey.

Daniel and Chris seemed to have a great time watching ice hockey:

Victoria, Daniel, Madeleine and Chris attended yesterday evening Chair of the Board of H&M Karl-Johan Persson's 50th birthday party at Rosendals' Garden. Karl-Johan had his 50th birthday already on March 25, but had a party to 180 guests yesterday. Madeleine and Chris arrived already at 19.00, and according to Svensk Damtidning the last royal car left the party at 03.00. Victoria and Daniel came from the back door, not good photos of them coming. A lot of singers performed at the party: Linnea Henriksson, Mauro Scocco, Jackie, Lisa Nilsson, Miriam Bryant and Petter.
Karl-Johan and Leonie Persson are Victoria and Daniel's very good friends, Stefan Persson is one of the King's best friends and the whole Persson family are friends with the royal family. Karl-Johan's father Stefan Persson is Sweden's richest person and Karl-Johan is 27th richest.
Svensk Damtidning was there to cover the party.

Aftonbladet's paywall article has a photo of Victoria arriving, she had the Selam Fessahaye suit we saw already in Nigeria in April.

Jonas and Stephanie Bergström were also at the party. From left: Jonas Bergström, Natalie Werner (Adrienne's godmother), Stephanie Bergström, Dag Werner.

I didn't realise Madeleine and her ex still mixed.

I didn't realise Madeleine and her ex still mixed.

They have always been in the same circles, so it is clear that they will meet sometimes in various events.
Almost all Madeleine's friends are also Jonas' and his wife's friends (Stephanie was also Madeleine's friend). Madeleine's good friend, Adrienne's godmother Natalie Werner was the toastmaster at Jonas and Stephanie's wedding, Madeleine's best friend Louise "Lussan" Thott attended the wedding, as did Katarina von Horn etc.

In Hat Couture – Royal Hat Fashion in the Royal Armoury, royal hats from the museum’s collections are shown for the first time in a separate exhibition. The headpieces have belonged to Queen Louise and Princesses Sibylla and Margaretha, and have been worn in accordance with the royal dress code on both festive and more everyday occasions.

A Debated Family Portrait
Welcome on November 12 to a lecture and panel discussion about John E Franzén's iconic portrait of the young Bernadotte royal family – a work that has been both acclaimed and debated. The portrait that hangs at Gripsholm Castle turns 40 this year.

Queen Silvia says at SVT's "The Year with the Royal Family", that Victoria is a wonderful person. She is warm, nice, knowledgeable and interested. She takes it seriously.
The Queen highlights the importance of Victoria finding a balance between her future responsibilities and family life, and that Estelle and Oscar grow up in peace. The children’s upbringing is a central part of the royal family’s everyday life, and the Queen emphasizes how valuable a stable childhood is – both for the children and for the parents: Estelle is 13 years old now and she and Oscar have had a guaranteed peaceful childhood. It is a valuable time for children but also for the parents, knowing that the children are getting the childhood they need. Which makes them also calm. The children being given this time allows Victoria to prepare for the future at her own pace, with the King by her side as support.
Queen Silvia is very grateful for how the King is handling the situation and the support he is giving his daughter. It is clear that he takes his responsibility very seriously and prioritizes both Victoria and the well-being of the family. They should all be very grateful that the King really takes this so seriously. To give Victoria the time she needs. And he is fine. And he is doing well, his health. He is by her side.
The media also writes about the Queen's thoughts:

So, is Silvia kind of defending that her husband is not abdicating? Given that she keeps stressing that people should be thankful the king is giving her and her family time?!

Well, her husband never had a normal childhood and neither did Victoria and her siblings, all of which caused problems. So, yeah, the king is kind of doing his good deed by letting his grandchildren grow up peacefully.

“Defending him not abdicating” is ridiculous. His health is fine, his grandfather lived to 90-whatever, and no one is expecting him to, whatever happens in other countries.

If the latter would be the case, there would be no point in praising the king for 'giving Victoria the time she needs' - that is only applicable if abdication is on the table. Otherwise, Silvia would be praising her husband for being fortunate enough to still be healthy/alive and not yet dying and that makes no sense to me.

See the excerpt below: "Queen Silvia is very grateful for how the King is handling the situation and the support he is giving his daughter. And, of course, what happens in other countries (especially in Denmark) is relevant for Sweden. People see that and wonder when CG will hand over to his heir, just like his cousin did in Denmark.

Polls in recent years have shown a slim plurality in favor of the King abdicating at an unspecified time in the future, as opposed to remaining on the throne until his death.

In 2023 it was 43% to 38% in favor of a future abdication; in 2024 it was 38% to 34%.

It makes sense then that Queen Silvia addressed the issue.

What I find interesting is that she apparently focused on the advantages of King Carl XVI Gustaf not abdicating now, rather than explaining the benefits of having monarchs reign for life. It gives the impression that Carl XVI Gustaf is currently not dead-set against a future abdication, regardless of what he and his family members have said in the past (and we know from, among others, his cousin and friend Queen Margrethe that monarchs are capable of changing their minds on this issue).

Expressen writes about the exercise The King and Victoria participated on 28th November:
The King and the Riksdag (Parliament) are practicing for war - 50 chosen ones will lead the country
The King, Crown Princess Victoria, the government and the Riksdag have practiced for a “war Riksdag” and a “war government”. It is the first major joint exercise in just over 30 years. (..)

“The Royal House’s support for agriculture is magnificent”
That the Royal House is involved in Swedish agriculture in particular is not obvious. Especially not when issues linked to agriculture, the environment and climate are becoming increasingly politically charged.
I spoke at the Rural Economy and Agricultural Society's conference. And it wasn’t exactly a context where you would expect to see Prince Carl Philip with an aide-de-camp. But there the prince was, involved in issues about the future of agriculture. A telling picture of the Royal House’s interest in agriculture, a genuine commitment that extends beyond the spotlight and ceremonies. And this makes it somewhat unique in the central government.
