February 4:
King Carl XVI Gustaf's signature under the ship's name in the bow. The patrol ship HMS Carlskrona set sail from the naval port in Karlskrona to become part of NATO's Operation Baltic Sentry as one of several Swedish ships that are part of Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1). This is the first time the ship has hoisted the NATO flag on board. The purpose of NATO's Operation Baltic Sentry is to demonstrate presence and monitor critical underwater infrastructure.

At a column:
Those of you who mock the king for the misspelling should be ashamed
Ines, the little newborn princess, daughter of Carl-Philip (himself dyslexic) and Sofia, became “Inse” when grandfather the king was going to announce her name at the council: Ines, Marie, Lilian, Silvia. And immediately the reporters in the evening newspapers and gossip magazines are there and are laughing: “Just now: The king said the wrong name – hear the double typo here”.
They should be ashamed. (..)

After last year's successful concert at the traditional Enthusiast Vehicle Exhibition, King Carl Gustaf gets his wish fulfilled. Local band Dollydots returns to Solliden Palace this summer.
Sandra Näslund, one of the band's members:
– After our gig last summer, we were contacted by the organizer of the vehicle meeting for the king. He had received a text message from the King who thought it was nice that girls came and sang. I think people think it's fun with girls performing in a "motor world". The songs that we sing are probably mostly appreciated and performed by guys. It's the rock that Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley played in their time. They're not typical "girl songs".
Dollydots made such a strong impression on the King that they received an invitation to return to Solliden on July 27, for the Enthusiast Vehicle Exhibition.

On the occasion of the nightclub fire in Kočani, North Macedonia, H.M. The King has sent a telegram of condolence to H.E. President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.

Photos from the King and Queen's private trip to Kenya in the beginning of March:

Expressen tells about their trip:
The royal couple with their friends Richard Ohlson and his wife Ylva Spendrup boarded a private jet from Bromma Airport on March 1.
Ylva Spendrup's relative runs the Kisima Farm estate, where the couples headed to pack up at Gundua Guest House. (..)

The King started the trend – now there are two Inse
At the Council of State due to the birth of Carl Philip and Sofia's daughter the king happened to say "Inse" instead of Ines as a name of address, and there was a moment of confusion.
Many wondered if there was anyone named Inse. Now there is.
Two small children are registered with the name, according to the Swedish Tax Agency. One little Inse was born in 2024 and had her name registered on March 11 this year, a couple of weeks after the king's mistake. The other little Inse was born this year and had her name registered on March 20.

Born in 2024 and only registered in March? How much time do parents have to register their child's birth - or do they register a child without declaring its name?

The birth itself is registered by a midwife at the hospital at the time of birth and the child often receives a social security number while still at the hospital. The parents then have three months to register the child's name with the Tax Agency.

Thanks! Interesting that children get a SSN before officially receiving a name.

So two or more parents decided to name their child after a malapropism uttered by the King? That is funny but seems bizarre, to be honest.

Queen Silvia's next work event is on April 28, according to the calendar.

It's not that surprising given how most people I know initially thought it was a pretty and unusual name before we found out about the King's mistake. Personally I was a little disappointed that Inse wasn't going to be her name.
These days many people are looking for names that stand out and choose names like "Tissla, Tiara, Flora, Lykka, Nox, Vilda/e" many of whom wouldn't even have been considered a name a generation ago.

On the agenda for Sweden’s National Day on May 14, there will be Sweden promotion, meetings with Japanese counterparts and cultural events.

Queen Silvia's next work event is on April 28, according to the calendar.

And now we have got the reason to that.
Margareta Thorgren, the Director of the Information Department:
– At the beginning of the week, the Queen underwent a foot operation, a so-called Hallux Valgus. This means that the Queen is recovering and resting at Drottningholm after this operation. The operation went well and the Queen is feeling well.

Wishing the queen a peaceful and relaxing recovery!

The Queen has looked unwell for quite some time… Like she is in pain…

I hope she has a peaceful rest so she can take part in The King’s birthday and the upcoming icelandic state visit !

The Øresund Bridge's 25th anniversary:
As part of the anniversary celebrations on 1 July 2025, H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf and H.M. Queen Silvia will meet H.M. King Frederik X and H.M. Queen Mary on the Swedish side of the connection.
The King and Queen will then travel in a motorcade across the bridge and make a stop on the island of Peberholm in the middle of the Øresund.
At the inauguration on 1 July 2000, the Swedish King and Queen and the then Danish Regent met on Peberholm. In connection with the final section of the bridge being put into place in August 1999, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and the then Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark met on the high bridge.

As much as i love the Öresund Bridge, i fear this will just be seen as a pr-gimmick and a major disruption and annoy people, who will then have to use the Helsingborg - Helsingör ferry instead…

The Queen is still using her crutch and hopefully in not too much pain or discomfort.
