General News about Frederik, Mary and Family Part 21: August 2025 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
She explains in the program that she has (fairly recently) discovered gardening and found an (unexpected perhaps) interest in gardening. She has previously described the almost therapeutic effect in buzzing around in a garden - like so many people do.
- So good for her. It is therapeutic (less for me than for my wife though. If it were to me we'd only have one big lawn.) and you get outside and get some fresh air and something to do and find delight in.

Gardening is sooooo good for you and your mental health.

Will Prince Joachim and Princess Marie meet The King and the Queen ?

This past weekend, Frederik has taken part in the sailing competition, Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.

He has previously won, "The King has also participated in the race in previous years – both as a spectator and as a participant. And in both 2021 and 2022, he won the prestigious BMW Trophy."

Well, according to DM all we royal watchers were talking about was where King Frederik was and what mischief he might be up to.
Now we can stop wondering about what wasn't on our minds anyway...

LOL, I know!! many tabloids were on the case. It's just hilarious that this only comes about for the DRF because of the rule/law of assigning a Regent in case the monarch is away. And they place that dates on the official calendars.
Other Monarchs can go away for weekends and days in between and no one would know unless there is a picture that comes out.

Mary has posed for the Danish giveaway magazine "Ud & Se Magazin".

The magazine accompanied her to the visit in Nigeria and met her for a photo shooting at Amalienborg.

Beautiful photos!

A very nice article. Well written. Nice to get the behind the scenes look into these visits. Not just security but preparation, hiccups, etc.

Mary is one smart woman, I liked her answers.
"Do you see a trip like this as business or pleasure?
"It is clearly a working visit. There is a lot of preparation beforehand. Many interests need to be nurtured and coordinated even before we even arrive. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen the partnership with Nigeria – both in the commercial and humanitarian areas. It is about sustainable development, security, migration… all that is part of Denmark's Africa Strategy. But I also see it as a huge privilege to be able to travel and meet people and hear their stories."
Yesterday I spoke to someone who was also at MeCAHT. She said that it had looked completely different the day before you came – messy and chaotic. Do you think for yourself that it is often a polished reality that you encounter? “
I think everyone, myself included, thinks about making an effort on these visits to make the most of it. And if that means cleaning up a bit, that’s a good thing. But I see what you mean. Getting things out of the way so that it all looks a little nicer on the surface. But I see it as an expression of people wanting to show their best side, which we all hopefully do when we meet a stranger.”"

Great quotes! It is always apparent that Queen Mary does her homework before any of these visits. She is always well versed on the location she is visiting, the people, culture in addition to, the purpose of the visit, the logistics and history of the relationship between the 2 countries. And she has done this since being Crown Princess as well. She is able to have a myriad of discussion with whomever she meets on these trips and not just generalized small talk either...it is specific, issue/region/person focused. She's amazing!

Mary shared some autumn photos today:

A beautiful autumn day, where spiders are actively preparing for winter 🕸️🕷️

Mr Muhler , I read that the Danes have critics about the new Royals enormous representing costs and their often private holidays.

Not the vast majority.
It is a recurring thing published in some magazines and papers and on certain sites.
But as a Regent Couple who in these years are busy representing the country at all sorts of visits and events, their expenses will inevitably go up and that of course also includes Queen Mary's outfits.
The world isn't fair, attention in regards to female royals is very much about appearance. And I, and most Danes I dare claim, expect our foremost representatives of our country to not only behave but also dress for that role.

Also I mean why would anyone begrudge them of having family time. I mean that's important right? So, mostly they've taken time during the school holidays and like all over royals, time during the summer.

Also....increased budget because they are doing more than QMII had been doing especially traveling abroad. And now they have to fund a royal couple when in the last few years they only had to fund the regent. It is just different. In this year alone they've done
3 outgoing state visits
Frederik did ascension visit to Japan
Frederik visited Greenland
Official visit to Faroe Islands
Mary did official visit to Nigeria
Mary just traveled to Egypt

And even though Queen Mary rewears and reworks outfits more than any other royal woman imo, she still does have to add pieces to her wardrobe especially with all the foreign travel to represent Denamrk and the monarchy. Like Muhler said, she is expected to dress accordingly.
