My dear Polyesco.

Alas it seems Frederik has been the victim of an Australian prank.
I have it from "sources" that Frederik was persuaded to buy these shorts and actually wear them in public!
The reason being that the ehh remarkable pattern serves as shark deterrent.

It doubles as a signal to other Australians that here walks a daft foreigner, so do not break down crying with laughter until he has passed. :D

:previous: That would be about right!  :ROFLMAO:

:previous: How would Mary allow that? Wouldn't she know?

:previous: How would Mary allow that? Wouldn't she know?

I have an explanation for that. It's something seasoned wives do after a number of years of marriage.
It's a well-known fact that most husbands will put on anything their wives suggest (and before that their mothers) either because they have no idea what dress-sense is or because they realize after a couple of years of marriage that is easier simply because men cannot comprehend that the blue shirt they have chosen doesn't match their wives handbag or something like that. So instead of having to change shirt, it's simpler to let the wife be in charge and after a couple of years it becomes a habit.

And that is what she has been waiting for!
Because now it's payback time, for all the timesher husband has slighted her! - Didn't he back on 26th February 2011 say her dress looked a bit tight around her hips? And hasn't he watched the cooking-shows with Nigella Lawson a little too often? And this is when she starts dressing him in all sorts of weird outfits, like the shorts Frederik is wearing or the light red pants our Marie has lured Joachim into wearing. Then they send their unfortunate husbands out in public.Where other wives can quietly giggle, because they know what's going on...! And the men who still have a sense for fashion left in them are in despair. And when the wives have a get-together they exchange photos of their husbands: "Look what I made mine wear! - Top that one"!- And the poor husbands are oblivious...

But lets return to topic.

Here we have Prince Daniel of Sweden doing it again!
http://b.bimg.dk/node-images/147/4/2200x/4147814-france.jpg
Marvel at the work he has put into this ensemble.
He is wearing a completely uninteresting suit. A shirt that absolutely no one will notice and a tie that is so forgettable that is must have taken a long time to find.
He is totally bland.
It's a masterpiece, a work of art.
It's no wonder Daniel is smiling broadly. He nailed it! It is simply not possible to be more boringly dressed.:cool::cool:

But many Swedish men try and follow in the footsteps of Daniel, their great role-model.
Behold this image: https://www.hjart-lungfonden.se/Global/Bilder/Nyheter/Hjart-lungfonden_PrinsDanielsAnslag.jpg

Observe how the gentleman next to Daniel has tried to copy Daniel's style. - It's a fail though!
You must admit he has really tried. A similar sleep-inducing suit. A most unnoticeable tie, like the ones Daniel is in the habit of wearing. But then he flunks! He is unshaven. - Daniel, the true master in uninteresting appearance, would never dream of being unshaven - that might be exciting. :ermm: And in case that isn't enough, there is always the handkerchief in Daniel's pocket to trump any usurpers.

Muhler, are you saying then that Daniel disobeys his wife when dressing in completely boring clothing, (in which case you are contradicting yourself when you state in an above post that men put on what their wives tell them to.)? Or are you saying that Victoria likes her spouse in bland and predictable outfits which she chooses for him! :)

:previous: Completely different rules apply for Swedes. ;)

It's the lifelong ambition of Swedish men to look as grey as possible, just as it is the desire of all Swedish women to see their men dressed as bland as possible.
If Daniel should suddenly appear in something colorful, we can rest assured that Victoria is behind. And it's at the same time a signal to all other Swedish wives that Daniel has said or done something wrong. :ermm:

Thus ends this lecture into Swedish mating habits. :p

At Sandringham today, the suit lives on.

It is a 4 season suit as it it warm enough to beat back the winter chill. It is cool enough to be worn in summer. It is obviously perfect and so why buy any other? Sigh.
And I will say this for the Duke, he feels no need to use hair length to compensate for the thinning hair. That is one no muss, no fuss summer-style haircut. :D

He probably thought: my wife cut her hair, let's support her, I'll cut my hair too. :ROFLMAO: For both of them, let's just grow it back to how it was before.

William has obviously reached the stage where he has realized: Okay, I'm balding. What to do?
Combover (Hentehår? (*)) Nah, that looks silly when you are pretty young and it looks even sillier as you grow older.
Shave it all off? Nah, unless your skull has a sexy shape. William is not in possession of such a skull.
Get a wig? And be ridiculed from here to eternity?!? Nah.
A hair-transplant? Hmm, depends on from where they pick the hair... Otherwise the result may be spots of curly hairs on the head...
Got it! - Get a perpetual five millimeter haircut. Easy to maintain. Can be combed with a sponge. Saves shampoo. And it makes one look almost SAS-like-cool.:D

Help, please! I need an English translation for hentehår. It's basically letting the hairs on the part of your head that still has hairgrowth, grow long. Dividing these hairs and comb half of them over the bald spot.
Here are two examples of hentehår: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HdR7Tz0StWI/TTarzW4qAHI/AAAAAAAAKF4/yuzb92LE4sA/s1600/Henteh%C3%A5r+1.jpg

Combover it is. Thanks Hernameispekka. :flowers:

Hahah, Exactly! I've heard it called "Robin Hood hair" here in Sweden because you take from the rich and give to the poor :p But I think the "proper" name is a "Combover"

Your posts about Swedes are simply nauseating.

LOL! :ROFLMAO:
I think Frederik has a wonderful style (no giving credit to Mary here);)
His beautiful shorts look fantastic with his surfing shirt, and is a great way for his kids to spot dad on the beach.

Daniel has started the year, like he left 2015 with his nice but bland suits and ties
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CYdJjsRWQAAhTQP.jpg

Frederik on the other hand besides looking dashing in his uniform for the New year receptions, has made a simple grey suit look better with a fantastic tie (its the little touches that count alot) ;)

the year is still young but my hopes of Santa having brought William a new suit or tie are being shattered ;)

I find them hilarious and a highlight of these forums. To each their own I guess.

Me, too.

Santa is wise and learned long ago not to waste his time trying to make William wear less boring clothes.

Perhaps Mette Marit could persuade Haakon into another pair of shoes by buying him a present of some new black ones? Or are Norwegian males under the same house rules as Swedish ones?

Speaking of house rules, it appears that both William and Harry decided about ten years ago that on all occasions when a suit needs to be worn blue is best. Maybe they believe it matches their eyes and is therefore flattering? Boring as all heck, but flattering. If only they would take a look at Frederik's wardrobe!

I think blue is the generally agreed on diplomatic suit. I've noticed politicians etc wear it alot. It's not as solemn or dressed up as black, not as "hip" as grey and not as "professor" as brown. You know how politicians have people deciding what kind of shine on the shoes is the best one. Too shiny and you offend the workers, too scruffy and you look like you don't care etc. :p So maybe William and Harry are going for safe, unnassuming and non-offensive? :p Or... you know... they like blue? :p

Price Charles is "hip'!!!!! Well every other year maybe, but he certainly has a variety of greys, blues and blacks in his wardrobe. Hard to believe he leaves his sons in his sartorial dust!

Honestly, Charles is always so well-dressed that I wonder why William and Harry don't follow him suit!

I seem to recall that Prince Charles was critiqued for wearing a blue suit at Diana's funeral when everyone else wore black. His response was that this was Diana's favourite suit.

IMO Harry is often better dressed (in terns of style/elegance) than William especially here lately.

Henrik might have retired but his "spirit"/ fashion sense still works on in his son Joachim :D

a bright purple vest, the inside of his coat lined in bright baby blue. :ROFLMAO:

for me, there is nothing wrong with blue suits, but at least get some variety in ties :whistling: ...baby steps, and then we can venture into grey suits ;)

Men's suits are very often subdued and so it is important to contrast colour. Here a brown suits is lifted with a light shirt, crisp pocket-handkerchief and contrasting tie:

With a dark suit, an unusual tie in a light colour can look great:

I always like it when Frederik wears a scarf with his suit:

Here, a blue suit looks great with the shirt and tie:

Now, let's have a look at a royal gentleman who has never been afraid of challenging the dress-codes. PH. Who is here seen wearing a suit and a tie, which in monarchies left unmentioned would cause a collective nervous breakdown.:eek::eek:

This is beyond extraordinary!

:previous: a mustard color suit with a red panda tie...only Henrik :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

That suit and tie would delight me separately, but the combo thrills me to bits! Yay, Henrik! :sun:
