On January 13th Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako privately attended Uzuka Toshiyuki's Recital "Viola's Final Movement" at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan in Taito, Tokyo. Uzuka (85), a long-time friend and professor emeritus at the Tokyo College of Music, has been teaching His Majesty viola for over 40 years. As an encore to the nearly 2.5 hour concert, he performed "Towards a Shining 'Reiwa'" which he composed for Emperor Naruhito's enthronement.

Uzuka also composed a piece titled "Romance" for the couple's marriage in 1993.

Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako may visit Mongolia in July. The Japanese and Mongolian governments are working on a visit to coincide with Mongolia's national festival "Naadam" which is celebrated July 11-13. If realized, this could be Their Majesties' third state visit following Indonesia and UK.

Then-Crown Prince Naruhito visited Mongolia in July 2007 for the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations. He attended the opening ceremony of "Naadam" in Ulaanbaatar and paid tribute at a memorial for approximately 2,000 Japanese, who were detained and killed by the former Soviet Union after WWII.
