In 1971 I graduated from the International School of Geneva, Switzerland. I received my International Baccaleaureat. The man who gave us our diplomas that year - we were the first graduating International Baccaleaureat class - was Lord Mountbatten, Prince Charles Uncle who had been an officer who helped run all armed forces in WWII. My father had been a US Navy pilot serving in WWII and wanted to see the ceremony with me receiving my diploma from Lord Mountbatten. I really had no idea at that time who he was and my father consequently missed seeing one of his heroes give me my diploma. The royals figure in my life in other ways as well. My father came from Asturias in Northern Spain and I notice in the Forum there is reference to the Prince and Princess of Asturias. People are connected in wonderful ways. Maybe each of us on the Forum has some connection to royalty we haven't yet discovered!
