King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will pay a state visit to Cyprus from March 4 - 5, 2025,
it was announced today.

His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Máxima will pay a state visit to Cyprus at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides. The visit will take place on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 March 2025.The state visit is a confirmation of the good bilateral relationship, with special attention to cooperation in the areas of security, education, culture and making both economies more sustainable.The Netherlands and Cyprus have been closely linked within the European Union for over 20 years. The geographical location of the island of Cyprus makes the country a strategic bridge between the EU and the Middle East. Through further cooperation, the Netherlands and Cyprus contribute to a safe, stable and sustainable Europe.

That is rather unexpected. I am not sure there ever were any Dutch state visits to that country. One wonders why this was chosen.

None at all. Unexpected,and surprised.Even tho a EU member,Cyprus hosts thousands of Russian nationals,completely ignoring the EU sanctions as the Oligarches have more to offer.....
