Duke Franz and the Royal House of Bavaria 2: 2022 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I am not sure anybody was fooled, but it made me smile nontheless.

Well, it was worth a try ;)

Franz, Duke of Bavaria and his partner Thomas Greinswald attended the celebration for the 50th anniversary of the Alpine region meeting of the mountain riflemen:

An April Fools' joke of the House of Bavaria today :dog:;)

I think many would welcome this as Teckels have a large support base.

I think they should go with the dachshunds. It’s definitely more unique!

Ursula, Princess of Bavaria, attended the anniversary symposium on burn surgery at the Children's Hospital Munich Schwabing:

🤣 That was really funny, and although I was not fooled and immediately recognized the joke, as a dog lover I must admit that I sympathized with the idea of having Teckels in a coat of arms. My parents used to have a dachshund that unfortunately died before I was born and my uncle had dachshunds for many years that accompanied him when he went hunting.

Leopold, Prince of Bavaria, christened a new racing boat "King Ludwig“ at the Munich Rowing Club of 1880 e.V.:

Franz, Duke of Bavaria, as a member of the State Advisory Board of the Malteser Relief Service Bavaria together with Ludwig, Prince of Bavaria, visited the Bavarian Centre for Special Operations in Windischeschenbach:

Franz, Duke of Bavaria, and his partner Thomas Greinwald attended the opening of the exhibition "4 Museums - 1 Modernism" at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich:

How lovely that they went together!

Never forget.
H.R.H Duke Franz of Bavaria, whose family, as opponents of the Nazi Regime, were deportated as special prisoners to Sachsenhausen concentration camp, then to Flossenbürg and Dachau, recalls: "even for a child it was surprisingly clear. I thought to myself: You're not getting out of here alive".

Princess Irmingard's paintings are heartbreaking.

Duke Max Emmanuel attended the commemoration ceremony on April 27th marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Flossenbürg concentration camp. The Wittelsbach family, who opposed the Nazi regime, passed through the camp during the Third Reich.

The darling Duke himself (and Thomas) also attended the Flossenbürg memorial.

It must have awoken a lot of memories for Duke Franz from the hell he experienced there as a child :(

He’s such a humble and sympathetic old man… Happy to see him still being in good form for his age :)

A lovely joint engagement for the siblings :)
Two hundred years ago, Ludwig I was crowned King of Bavaria – at a time of political uncertainty and economic weakness.

He saw his role not in terms of military power, but as a mission of cultural renewal. Under his reign, Munich developed into center of culture and scholarship of European standing, marked by visible symbols of a new identity: Königsplatz, the Glyptothek, Ludwigstraße, and the Bavaria.

At the same time, Ludwig pursued broad reforms: he strengthened the administration, promoted trade and infrastructure, joined the Zollverein, and re-established over a hundred monasteries.

Beginning on May 10, 2025, the Bavarian State Exhibition at the Haus der bayerischen Landesgeschichte in Regensburg will be dedicated to this remarkable monarch to highlight his achievements, his ideals, and a legacy that continues to shape the present.

Does the head of the family ever award nobility titles in their capacity as head of the Royal family, I know the Romanovs and Habsburg used to award titles to some relatives, am asking just for the possibility of the current head to award a title to his partner

No and he can't as there are no noble Titles anymore in Germany. Only the former royal Titles as Part of the surname

The question about privileges of German nobility is still not completely understood by people who aren't living in this country. This article of "Deutsche Welle" explains the history and the facts as they are today:

In fact there are suggestions by the extreme "Left" party to abolish even the titles. As they are a minority I am sure they won't succeed with their plans.

Several members of the family attended a commemoration of late psychiatrist Bernhard von Gudden today, May 21. "The occasion was the blessing of a bronze plate donated by HRH Duke Franz, which can now be seen permanently below the votive chapel.":

Russia and Austria have abolished their titles of royalty and nobility. The Romanoffs and Habsburgs who use or award titles are acting without authorization from the peoples or governments of Russia or Austria, and the "titles" have no legal standing whatsoever.

Franz, Duke of Bavaria and his partner Thomas Greinswald attended a reading of the book “Ludwig I – Dreams and Power” by historian Marita Krauss:
